Walk through the cobbled stones of Obernai, Alsace in France
Today I invite you to discover lots of images of the pretty village of Obernai in Alsace, France
which is a picturesque village where nothing is missing to show the Alsatian charm, and that we visited in August of last year (my in-laws is Alsatian 😊)
Obernai is the second most visited town in Bas-Rhin after Strasbourg, especially for its beautiful half-timbered houses.
A small tourist town but which nevertheless remains very accessible for photographs of streets that are not too crowded 😉
The marketplace
this place hosts a market every Thursday morning, and this, since 1301 ..!
Here we see the tower of the chapel, Kappelturm, which is a belfry dating from the 15th and 16th century, whose spire rises to 60 m,
and the town hall that we see next to it, a 16th century renaissance style building classified as a historic monument in 1900
here we can see enthroned in the middle of the square, the Sainte-Odile fountain which was built in 1904 in homage to the patron saint of Alsace 😊
By now operating a U-turn, we can admire behind the fountain of Ste Odile, a white building surmounted by a bell, that is the old corn exchange, la Halle au blé which once housed the municipal butcheries, in the 16th century, then the storage of grain in the 19th
This renaissance-style building has been a restaurant since 1969 which has also taken over the name "Halle au Blé"
One can see on the chimney one of the many stork nests which one finds everywhere here,
this bird is very widespread in the region and is even the symbol of Alsace😉
We now engage in the picturesque pedestrian streets of Obernai in order to admire the typical architecture of its houses and the charm of their half-timberings.
That's it Hivers !

Thanks Pix 😁
I love the Alsace region. It's so colorful. I haven't been to Obernai yet though so it's nice to see photos of the city. It looks awesome. I didn't realize that it was the second most visited city in the region after Strasbourg. Interesting. I would have thought Colmar or Riquewhr would hold that title.
You are right with Colmar and Riquewehr, they are both beautiful towns ! I will go in Alsace in my in-laws next week-end, I wonder if I will have a nice weather to have some nice shots there 😊
I hope you do get good weather. There has been so little of it this year, at least for us. We finally had a week of sunshine this past week. It's been nice. I hope it continues.
Looks like a great place for Tourists. Hopefully I can visit someday🙂
thanks for your appreciation @d1homid 🙂
It is very beautiful, @barbara-orenya!
