Visiting one of the best archaeological wonders of the world

For a change today I wanted to write something different. I usually write finance-related articles are blogs that are mostly about Hive and the great opportunities we have on Hive. Today I took some time to write an article on a place that I'm going to be visiting. Right now I'm traveling to this amazing place.

India is full of many beautiful places and architectural wonders. As an art and architecture lover, I'm fortunate to be born and live in a state that has so many such Giant structures. Though religion was one of the biggest reasons why these Giant structures were born, I really admire the way the kings have built these places. Not just temples but they have also built their palace and other spots in a similar manner.

I wanted to take a break from work and it has also been a long time since I traveled places. The place that I'm going to be visiting today is called Gangai Konda Cholapuram. This is a small village near Jeyankondaan in Tamil Nadu, India. The beauty of this place cannot be described in words. If we look at this temple we will not even believe that it would have been possible for humans to build such giant structures.

This site is a world heritage site and is being maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. Every year many people from different parts of the world come here to admire the beauty of this architectural wonder. If not for religious reasons, I don't think the kings would have got the inspiration to create such perfect architecture. Today with all our modern technology and equipment we build dams and bridges and fly-overs. But they hardly last for a century. But structures like these live for nearly 1000 years. The temple that you see in the above image has been there for 1000 years.

Many great people have visited this temple in the past and have described the beauty of this temple. An interesting piece of information about this temple is the fact that King Raja Raja Chola's son King Rajendra Chola wanted to build exact replica of the same time that his father built. This was not because he wanted to prove that he was greater than his father but interestingly he proved that there is nobody equivalent to the skills of this father and many people in history accepted that fact.

These are some great places that should never be missed. Not for religious reasons but one can visit this place to admire the beauty and wonder how much effort would have gone into building this and it still stands strong today. The technology they had used to bind the rocks is still amazing.
