I WROTE THIS SONG OUT OF PAIN IN MY ROOM

Let me give you the background story that motivated this song. Growing up, my parents did their best to shield me from the world because of the area I grew up in; I grew up in the ghetto. I didn’t get to meet people outside the scope of family friends so what I got to know about humans, I learnt from my TV screen and books. I saw life in rainbows and colors, believed everyone and everything could be good if you wished it.

Until I got to the University

I’ve always been told the University changes a person and honestly and I finally understand. I was slammed by the harsh reality of life. I experienced heartbreaks, betrayals and hurt from different people and in different form. It was a really traumatic life changing experience but I am grateful for it. I am grateful because it made me love myself more, brought amazing friends and I made amazing memories. The experience molded me and made me understand life a whole lot better.

I’ve learnt to love me because that’s who matters to me the most. If I can’t love me, then I can’t love others. That’s how important loving me is. Which is why I wrote this song to remind myself that in the end, taking care of me is what matters.

I hope this inspires you to love you too.

Wow... I feel so emotional right now
Your composition is superb and speaks with loud voice to the heart..
You know, I am seriously against parents locking up their children in the box and not allowing them to learn and explore the community and the wider world... When that child happens to go out it takes only the grace of God for that child not to miss it..
Educating children socially matters too, they should be taught tactics on how to approach life and it's tentacles, because no matter how parents choose to shield their children from the wider world there comes a time when they child will be left to shield his or her own self and the hope is that nothing happens to the child that cannot be corrected again...
Am glad you are doing better from your experiences and have understood better methods to how to approach life by first loving your own self...
