I lost all my hard earned Hive today. Someone from discord posed as a tech support for Hive and fooled me in giving him my private keys. I feel so stupid right now. How can I be so naive?

I was just so desperate to transfer my Hive to Binance. You see, I've been trying to transfer my Hive to my Binance wallet but I always get the same error. I did this for hours and I always get the same error. I tried different private keys and I still can't transfer my Hive to my wallet. I was really getting frustrated by it so I tried to look for someone who can help me. My search lead me to discord thinking that discord was where the help was gonna come from.

I posted my issue but no one answered until someone DM'ed me saying he was there to help. I wasn't familiar with this whole discord thing and I was under the impression that it was just another hive application designed to help hive users.

So me and the tech support guy(Who went by the username:misstion) did some troubleshooting and he was really convincing telling me all these techy process that im not very familiar with. So I just did what he asked me but the issue was still the same. I still can't transfer my hive to my wallet. We were troubleshooting this for hours and still nothing. At this time, I just lost hope of it all. Then he asked me my private keys so he could validate my wallet on his end. I was hesitant at first in giving him my private keys but I was desperate. I just wanted it to be over. I was thinking if I can't transfer my Hive to my wallet then what's the point.

So, out of desperation I gave him all my private keys hoping that he would be the one who can solve my problem. But the problem was not fixed on his end as well.

Now, my brother @baninan was trying to troubleshoot my issue on his end too. And he figured out what the problem was. It was just a case of slow internet connection. So he tried to transfer some of my Hive to his wallet and it worked.

So I just told the tech guy that the issue has been fixed and that it was just an issue with slow internet. So we ended our conversation and I thank him for assisting me in my issue not knowing what was about to happen a few hours later.

It was already late so I said we'll just transfer my Hive to my wallet the next day and went to sleep. When I woke up, I grab my phone to check on my wallet and all my Hive was gone so I thought maybe my brother went ahead and transferred my Hive to his wallet. But when I scrolled down this is what I see..

I was worried and confused at the same time. So I DM'ed my brother and he told me he didn't do it.

And that's when it hit me. The tech guy who I was talking to was a scammer. I felt so heavy and angry I couldn't believe my hard earned Hive was gone. I worked so hard to earn those Hive and in just a snap it was all gone. I felt so stupid I just punched the wall out of anger.

How could I have been so stupid?! I guess your judgment gets clouded when you're in a state of frustration and anger. And the scammer took advantage of that.

So my brother tells me that we need to change all the private keys in my account since it's been compromised. And so we did. Luckily, the scammer didn't change the password of my account. So now my account is safe.

I don't know if there's any way of getting my Hive back or ban the scammer's account from using Hive so he can't scam any more Hive users.

I also want to say that it would really be helpful if there was a 24/7 customer support to address all kinds of issues within peakd, and Hive in general. I mean, Hive let's face it, still has a lot to improve on. And adding a customer support department would really improve the Hive users experience. And it's one way of ensuring that these type of issues will not happen again in the future.

If you're new here like me, my advise to you is to never give away your private keys no matter who it is asking for it. I learned that the hard way. So let this be a lesson to all.

And to the scammer, I feel sorry for you man.
