WHILE studying at the Universitas Malikussaleh Political Science Study Program, Jefri Susatio diligently wrote student press releases to be submitted to journalists in Lhokseumawe and its surroundings. He writes releases comfortably because he often attends journalism training for students.

Due to the frequency of writing releases and reading news that has already been broadcast, finally Jefri's writing skills are increasingly being honed. He can even choose the news angle that journalists like, so journalists from various media who receive releases don't have to bother changing angles and editing.

But, so far, Jefri has not thought of becoming a journalist. The intention to become a journalist for the youth who was born in Air Joman, Sumatera Utara, January 15, 1990, only emerged after he graduated in December 2012.

“Initially I wanted to get a job that is not alienated from work results. I can enjoy my own work. I think journalism is the right job. Moreover, in the past, several senior journalists seemed very fun," said Jefri.

He saw his senior who was a journalist capable of speaking and writing with various references. While walking around the USU Employment Services Center, he saw a job vacancy as a reporter at the Medan Tribune. “I applied and was called to take the test. Starting from psychological tests, interviews, to medical tests.”

Eventually he became a journalist. Until now.

Jefri is now an editor at the Tangerang Tribune for a while. His daily duties are to provide projections for reporter coverage, to ensure that reporter coverage can be carried out according to projections.

He also edits reporter stories and writes content for online. Routinely check TribunTangerang readers and business parties meet clients.

"I also served at the West Papua Tribune, took part in preparing the media for publication and served three months after its launch," added Jefri.

While at the Medan Tribune, he served as editor of special coverage for the Medan Tribune/Tribun-Medan.com daily. This means that Jefri is required to be able to work multitalented because he is an online editor as well as a print editor.

Because he enjoys working as a journalist, Jefri enjoys sleeping in the morgue or going for days on end without returning home. He enjoys doing in-depth coverage of disaster areas and mingling with the community.

"When he was just a journalist, the Chief Editor of the Medan Tribune, Mas Abdul Haera HR, said that being a journalist must have high enthusiasm."

He defines the meaning of the spirit of journalism, no matter how bright a journalist's brain is, if you are lazy to go to the field it is useless. You won't get any good news. "Reporters have to go to the field, become foot workers, then the facts obtained in the field are then worked on using their brains," Jefri warned.

Consistent going into the field, writing descriptions related to events and features made him always trusted by the office to cover big events, such as the crash of the Hercules plane in Padangbulan, Medan, the eruption of Mount Sinabung and flash floods in the Dwi Warna waterfall area.[]
