Process in pictures - Proceso en imágenes

Just as the world is fractal, that world is full of figures and shapes. Lately, I have seen a lot of art related to this theme, and today, everything I have seen has inspired me to work on this theme. But unlike what I do in art, where I have the image in my mind and try to design what I see in my head, this time I experimented with different images that had geometric figures or shapes on a face to see what I could achieve.

I really liked the result, as if it were a kind of surrealist abstract. But at the same time, these shapes made me think of almost the same thing as fractals and patterns. Many times in life there are pre-established forms, beliefs, many of which may be wrong, false, or not good for a person, but we believe in them and repeat certain behaviors or attract certain things that we often don't want, such as a bad job, a poorly paid or abusive job, and we don't realize that we are repeating the same pattern over and over again.

This comes from patterns in our minds that may come from our family or society, and there is always a reason for them. Getting rid of them is not easy, but it is necessary in order to live a different kind of life.

Design process

The design was created entirely in Photoshop CS6 with eight royalty-free images and 19 layers, without using AI.

To create the background, I used two images with different shapes. I placed the second image on top of the first in two layers, changing the tones in one layer using Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation. The blending modes used are Darker Color and Focal Light. On top of this, I placed an image of geometric shapes that I arranged in three layers, one flipped vertically, and used the Strong Light and Overlay blending modes.

Between these last three layers, I worked on the woman's face in three layers, previously erasing the background. I used the darken, focal light, and lighten blends. Then I made two more layers with focal light to place on the sides of the design, and on one of the woman's eyes I placed the violin with the focal light blend, while on the other side of the face I placed the image of the cats with the screen blend.

Finally, I worked on the image of the jasmine and one of the flowers within the image of four flowers. In the first case, I made four layers that I placed in different parts of the design with the screen blend, and in the second case, I made two layers and applied the darken and focal light blends.

The animation is done completely in After Effects, working on the opacity of each layer and adding lights in the form of clouds for better contrast.

Al igual que el mundo es fractal, ese mundo está lleno de figuras y formas. En el último tiempo he visto mucho arte referido a ese tema y hoy todo eso que he visto, me ha inspirado para trabajar ese tema. Pero a diferencia de lo que hago en arte, donde en mi mente tengo la imagen y trato de diseñar lo que veo en mi cabeza, esta vez experimente con distintas imágenes que tuvieran figuras o formas geométricas, sobre un rostro y ver que era lo que podía lograr.

El resultado me gustó bastante, como si fuera una especie de abstracto surrealista. Pero a su vez estas formas me hicieron pensar en casi lo mismo que los fractales y los patrones. Muchas veces en la vida hay formas preestablecidas, creencias, que muchas de ellas pueden ser erróneas, falsas o no buenas para una persona, pero que se cree en ellas y se repiten ciertas conductas o se atraen ciertas cosas que muchas veces no queremos, como por ejemplo un mal trabajo, un trabajo mal pago o abusivo y no nos damos cuenta que repetimos una y otra vez el mismo patrón.

Eso deviene de formas que están en nuestra mente que pueden venir de la familia, sociedad y que siempre tienen un porqué. Deshacernos de ellas no es fácil, pero para poder vivir otro tipo de vida es necesario.

Proceso del diseño

El diseño está enteramente realizado en Photoshop CS6 con ocho imágenes libres de derechos de autor y en 19 capas, sin utilizar IA.

Para crear el fondo usé dos imágenes con distintas formas, sobre la primera coloqué la segunda en dos capas, donde en una le cambié los tonos en imagen-ajustes-tonos saturación. Las fusiones usadas son color más oscuro y luz focal. Sobre esto puse una imagen de figuras geométricas que dispuse en tres capas, una volteada verticalmente y usé las fusiones de luz fuerte y superponer.

Entre estas tres últimas capas trabajé el rostro de la mujer en tres capas, borrando previamente el fondo. Usé las fusiones de oscurecer, luz focal y aclarar. Luego volví a hacer dos capas más con luz focal para poner a los lados del diseño y sobre uno de los ojos de la mujer puse el violín con la fusión de luz focal, mientras sobre el otro lado del rostro puse la imagen de los gatos con la fusión de trama.

Finalmente trabajé la imagen del jazmín y de una de las flores que está dentro de la imagen de cuatro flores. En el primer caso hice cuatro capas que dispuse en distintas partes del diseño con la fusión de trama y en el segundo caso hice dos capas y les coloqué la fusión de color más oscuro y luz focal.

La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste.
