Teaching, more than work, is satisfaction. (WEEK 195)

"The educator is the man who makes difficult things look easy ."

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

I have had several jobs in my life, some I liked more, others less and others not at all. There is everything in life, you learn from everything and they are necessary experiences to grow.

But thinking about which of them was my favourite involves many things.

I believe that there is no perfect work, because perfection does not exist, at least in this earthly world.

Each one had its details, its pros and cons.

Then I thought, which of all of them gave me the most satisfaction in life. And the answer is teaching. Teaching others what I know.

That has included giving computer classes as well as painting classes.

But the detail that made that job special, was not only to make known what I knew, but that my students were older people, people who perhaps didn't have a good memory or comprehension and who needed to be taught with a lot of patience.

I think patience is cultivated every day, exercised and learned.

I have been enriched by the experiences of these people. Many of them were at the end of their lives and they told me their experiences, past stories and in the middle of the classes they could talk about everything and I was the one who listened to them.

Many were alone, or with people around them, but they didn't pay attention to them.

I was very sad to know that many of them were forgotten by their families. They told me: my children are very busy. ....

I learned a lot from them, I think I learned more than they did. They are the living experience.

Many of my female students said to me: I love you like a daughter. Tears were inevitable.

With some of them, after almost 6 years, I send messages, some of them good morning, good evening or other.

Others have left this plane and with others I have lost contact. But I carry their stories with me.

Sometimes they send me messages saying, I have forgotten everything you taught me because I have not practised it anymore, but I remember our talks, the mates, and your sweet words. They still call me teacher.

That has been my favourite job because it has been the one that has given me the most satisfaction and from which I have learned the most. There were many years of teaching, and my soul will always love teaching, I think I was born that way.

What I always valued most in my students was that at that age, 60, 70 and 80, they wanted to learn something new. I always admired them and they know it.

Searching and searching I found some photographs of the classroom where I taught computer classes, when I was just starting out and it was set up for that and some photographs of the painting classes. I didn't use to take many pictures back then, but here they are.

As always @galenkp, thank you very much, today you brought back great memories, full of emotion and experiences. I've even taught painting on Saturdays.

Big greetings to all and I wish you all a fabulous weekend.

What a beautiful story you tell and denotes great courage (things that not everyone has for this profession and no, it is not for everyone). I was a computer teacher for a couple of years and I discovered it wasn't my thing, patience is not one of my virtues and I had children between 4 and 14 years old (imagine how it ended hahaha).

What beautiful moments. I was always told that teaching adults was the best thing to do and reading this proves that it is. The most beautiful thing is the human contact and the relationships that were formed. Greetings my love.

I am glad that teaching is this important to you. Yes, we also learn while teaching, we get as much as we give. That is so nice, right? Also, the older students tell me a few times that I am like a daughter to them ;))

When they say that it fills me with tenderness, many didn't have children and a beautiful relationship was created. Thank you @mipiano!❤️

It is true that you have had many jobs, at least you have shown us several and very different from each other, I remember you working for a Chinese. Your current work is admirable and just look at the number of comments on your publications. And, as a person you are an example, what you tell us today is admirable. Most people would have forgotten about your students, we usually remember people who can be useful to us for something, in work, business, studies, but genuine friendship, as you show in this publication is a rarity. A hug and happy weekend... here it is snowing.

Teaching others is always satisfying, feel proud, because it is not an easy task, in older adults, also many are educators but not all have the ability to teach and if they remember you is because you did and left something good in them.

What a beautiful work experience, being an educator is not easy, especially with elderly people, as you say, it requires a lot of patience and understanding.
The links you still have with them are great.
I appreciate you sharing these beautiful experiences dear friend @avdesing

I remember reading some of this in Throwback Thursday, and loved it at the time as much as I do now as more details come to mind. That part where you get his words and the tears in your eyes were inevitable is beautiful and says a lot about you. Not everyone has the talent to teach, let alone senior citizens. You not only have the talent, but the patience and love that is required, and it is something that sometimes is discovered with practice, you are one of those teachers that life was building little by little. Your post is beautiful, it is always a total happiness when I agree with your writings, I send you a hug and I wish you the best of Sundays my friend!...

Sometimes it's interesting to know how difficult or easy it is for teachers to teach. This helps us to understand whether we can become teachers ourselves. I'm glad that I have support in my studies thanks to https://royalwriter.co.uk/ , but I also realize that teachers need to be able to do many different things. Reading the articles, I can better understand what I can do and what I can't. I'm grateful to have support and thanks to that I have time to learn different information.
