Sharing in family (EN-ES)

Greetings and blessings, dear friends. I hope you are well, enjoying a special weekend with your family.

On weekends we make family plans to go out and share a good part of the day. I have already told you that sometimes we just walk, visit parks and relax, enjoying the scenery. Other times, we go out to the malls and have a nice lunch.

This time, we went to the Andino Mall, and after browsing the stores, we went to the food fair. I was looking forward to eating some of the delicious Arabian food that I like so much. Here in Bogota, we have not seen many restaurants offering this type of food.

The last time I ate an Arabian dish was on my birthday, because among the gifts to spoil myself was to visit a very famous and luxurious restaurant, but, in the end, although we enjoyed it, we agreed not to return to that restaurant, because we knew we could find other alternatives for a better price.

On our way out, walking through the food fair, we found Shawarma Kaiser a small place, but big in flavors. There, we decided to stay because, in addition, the service was wonderful from the beginning. To convince us, they gave us falafel croquettes that were delicious.

Los fines de semana hacemos planes familiares para salir y compartir buena parte del día. Ya les he contado que algunas veces, solo caminamos, visitamos parques y nos relajamos, disfrutando del paisaje. Otras veces, salimos a recorrer centros comerciales y aprovechamos de comer algo rico.

En esta ocasión, nos fuimos al Centro Comercial Andino, y luego de recorrer tiendas, nos fuimos a la feria de comida. Yo tenía ganas de comer alguna de las exquisiteces de la comida árabe que tanto me gusta. Aquí en Bogotá, no hemos visto muchos restaurantes que ofrezcan este tipo de comida.

La última vez que comí un plato árabe fue el día de mi cumpleaños, pues entre los regalos para consentirme estaba conocer un restaurante muy famoso y lujoso, pero que, a fin de cuentas, a pesar de que lo disfrutamos, coincidimos en no regresar a ese restaurant, pues sabíamos que podíamos encontrar otras alternativas por un mejor precio.

En nuestra salida, paseando por la feria de comida, encontramos Shawarma Kaiser un local pequeño, pero grande en sabores. Ahí, decidimos quedarnos porque, además, la atención fue maravillosa desde el principio. Para convencernos, nos regalaron croquetas de falafel que estaban deliciosas.

We decided to try three different dishes to compare flavors. My daughter, who had previously eaten there, recommended my husband to order the Shawarma, which he could choose between mixed, falafel, meat or chicken, he chose the latter. The portion of protein was generous and the flavor was exquisite, with just the right combination of spices and seasonings to stand out for its flavor but without being excessive. My daughter, for her part, fell in love with the falafel croquettes we were given at the start, and that's what she ordered.

As for my dish, this was, unbeknownst to me, the most elaborate of them all. I ordered a "Combo Bowl" which included hummus cream (chickpeas with tahini and olive oil) and Babaganosh (roasted eggplant with tahini, garlic and olive oil), accompanied by Arabic bread, kibbe, tabbouleh salad and drink. The combination of flavors and textures enchanted me and transported me to those visits to the Arab Club in Cumaná, when we enjoyed this delicious gastronomy, also as a family.

Decidimos probar tres platos distintos para comparar sabores. Mi hija, que anteriormente había comido allí, le recomendó a mi esposo que pidiera el Shawarma, el cual podía escoger entre mixto, de falafel, de carne o de pollo, él escogió este último. La porción de proteína era generosa y el sabor exquisito, con la combinación exacta de especias y condimentos para destacar por su sabor pero sin que sea excesivo. Mi hija, por su parte, se enamoró de las croquetas de falafel que nos dieron al comienzo, y eso pidió.

En cuanto a mi plato, este fue, sin saberlo, el más elaborado de todos. Yo pedí un "Combo Bowl" que incluía crema de hummus (garbanzos con tahini y aceite de oliva) y Babaganosh (berenjenas asadas con tahini, ajo y aceite de oliva), acompañado de pan árabe, kibbe, ensalada de tabule y bebida. La combinación de sabores y texturas me encantó y me transportó a aquellas visitas al Club Árabe de Cumaná, cuando disfrutábamos de esta deliciosa gastronomía, también en familia.

There is something better than a delicious meal and that is enjoying international dishes like these with the company and conversation of my husband and daughter. Between the three of us we tried all the dishes, commented on our favorite flavors and agreed that we should come back.

Although we didn't plan it, this outing went better than expected as we ended up very satisfied and happy with our lunch. Sometimes the best family plans are unexpected.

Hay algo mejor que una deliciosa comida y es disfrutar de platillos internacionales como estos con la compañía y conversación de mi esposo y mi hija. Entre los tres probamos todos los platos, comentamos nuestros sabores favoritos y estuvimos de acuerdo en que debíamos volver.

Aunque no lo planificamos, este paseo fue mejor de lo esperado pues terminamos muy satisfechos y contentos con nuestro almuerzo. A veces, los mejores planes en familia son así, inesperados.
