What Do You Usually Do For Fun And How Often Do You Do Them?

I have some activities I do to ease my mind, entertain myself or just the little things I do for some light -hearted pleasure. In no particular order, the first thing on the list of things I do for fun is read books and watch movies and shows. I have always longed for life outside my body, for experiences outside my zone, a connection to minds I may never meet and will never in cases of fictional characters. And that’s how I found books and fell in love with all forms of art and creative works.

While I’ve read different types of book by authors from different backgrounds, my understanding of books changed when I started reading African literature. It started to feel more personal and deeper, it became less about reading to expand my mind but open it up from within as well. I encourage everyone to read African literature because the brilliance of the minds of African writers are stunning. I’m not just talking about the popular African classics; I’ll probably put a list of African books I’ve read and recommend.

How often do I read? Well, I read as the spirit leads, since this rear I’ve only managed to read a few but it’s okay. A lot has been happening so anytime I manage to find a few days of freedom and concentration, I try to make the most of it. I also watch lots of movies and tv shows on my streaming platforms; sometimes I go weeks without watching anything.

Another thing I really love to do is eat. I know this is a regular activity but I really love to eat. It makes me really happy especially when I’ve been craving some food for a while. We have a common saying here that goes: no matter what you’re going through, make sure you eat first. Lol. When I feel low I just go out and grab some food or order in, anything with filling, like creams, cheese, mustard, sauce, proteins etc; are always my go to. I love eating burgers, sandwiches, fries, meat, and anything with an unusual amount of calories. I love going out with my friends to get food and drink and float over time. They don’t even have to be special, they just have to taste good.

How often do I eat? Well, everyday but just like everyone, some meals I enjoy more than the others. Anything that gets me to close my eyes and savor its deliciousness and brings joy to my taste buds is very fun to me.

I love spending time with myself. I’ve always felt like I am my best self when I’m in my own company. It is the only place I feel seen and completely welcome. You know I actually find it difficult to relate when people say they are alone and bored. I love being by myself. I happen to blessed and surrounded by delightful people whom I enjoy their company so much and they are all amazing. But when I’m alone, everything is all right.

I’m grateful for the relationship I have with myself. I love it when I exist alone and not have to speak a lot for some time, I love it when I walk naked, cook myself some nice meal and vibe to some of my good music and just do whatever; it is all about balance. I love to sit in silence at night, light up some trees and candles and zone out or state at the moon and stars from the balcony. I also love staring at the trees and nature around my house.

How often do I do this? Well, lately I’ve been around my people a lot so. Graduating from the university kind of robbed me of the little autonomy and independence I had. But I cherish the moments I spend alone and looking forward to being independent again.

Next on my list of fun thing is some self – care, particularly those nights of skin care rituals. My body routine using starts from grooming, then I scrub my skin, on days I lack the energy to scrub my whole body, I make sure to scrub my hands and feet. I put on some aloe vera and honey homemade body mask and dance around, watch a movie standing or do some dumb shit. I rinse off after ten minutes or more then I moisturize and seal in with some almond or jojoba oil.

For my face, I do my double cleansing, then do some glycolic acid exfoliation, wear a cooling and hydrating sheet mask, cooling because I pop it in the refrigerator a few minutes before I use it. My mind!!! Lol. The mask stays on for the next thirty minutes while I pour myself a glass, stretch my legs or fold my laundry.

How often do I do some skin care TLC? Well, once a week on days when I can afford to, or once in two or three weeks on days when that’s the tune the universe requires me to dance. But I make sure to always have a full moon bath, it’s great for my spiritual health. It is something I enjoy so much because it makes me feel really intimate with myself. There are other fun things I do but I’ll save you the bore.

🤗Yeah, African books! Nigerian books for instance, it’s so nice to see the array of books being published these days. We have so many awesome writers and more books from various genres and that tell our story. It’s exciting honestly.

😍I love your pictures!

African writers are truly changing the narrative one word at a time, and we should all invest more time and energy into reading and supporting their works.

Thank you for your complements, you’re far too kind.
