Frances Haugen has issued a strong call to mark Zuckerberg to step down as the CEO of the biggest social media kingdom because she believes users are at risk due to lack of attention for him. She said the company which has been recently rebranded to be called Meta won’t be progressive if mark remains the current CEO.

Speaking at the summit this is what Frances Haugen had to say about Mark and the company. All quotes were taken from

“I think Facebook will be stronger with someone who is willing to focus on safety, so yes.” She also acknowledged that Mark’s control of Meta was an issue for any independent shareholders who might wish for a change at the top. Mark controls decision-making at the company through his majority ownership of the voting shares in Meta, which makes his position unassailable. She also added by saying
“Mark holds 54% of the voting shares in Facebook. He is the chairman and the CEO and I think that at a minimum the shareholders have the right to actually choose their CEO. And so I think it is unlikely the company will change if he remains the CEO,”

“And I hope that he can see that there is so much good he could do in the world, and maybe it’s a chance for someone else to maybe take the reins.” Haugen also criticised the strategic shift behind the company’s surprise rebranding last week, with Zuckerberg committing the business to a major investment in the metaverse, a space where digital representations of people – avatars – interact at work and play, meeting in their office, going to concerts and even trying on clothes.

She believes her actions are not to tarnish the image of anyone or the company but to save lives and protect the users’ confidentiality.

“I think there is a meta problem at Facebook which is that over and over again Facebook chooses expansion in new areas over sticking the landing on what they have already done and I find it unconscionable that, as you read through the documents, it states very clearly there needs to be more resources on very basic safety systems,” she said.

“I genuinely believe that there are a million or maybe 10 million lives on the line in the next 20 years, and compared to that nothing really feels like a real consequence.”

But on the other hand the company believes that her move and actions are for profit gains and nothing more. The company also stated they have spent up to $5 billion on safety and security this year alone so there’s no need of concern and worries compare to other companies.

Do you'd believe her move is for profit only?

Well we can't be certain for sure but she has been really active against them and that has passed profit gain margin

That I'm not sure. Considering he has most of the shares. I don't know how this thing works but, I believe that Mark's tenure should close. The lady might be talking for profit but is she really? And anyone can accuse her of that especially the culprit himself. Also, the whistleblower event is a fact that Mark is only profit oriented. Forget the Whistleblower, there have been a lot of heartbreaking news related to Facebook.
