The Antique Restaurant

Hello everyone,
I really don't understand what rich people think with their hobbies. Maybe we often hear about the hobbies of rich people who like to collect sports cars like lamborgini, collect expensive works of art and paintings to display at home, some like to collect eagles for racing, some are even more extreme like collecting wild animals that are even extinct. Indeed, rich people will always have money to do anything.

Well, here's another story from someone I know, he said that I should visit this restaurant soon. This is a restaurant owned by a rich man, he made this vintage restaurant by showing his unexpected collection of antiques. Not many people know about this restaurant, but this restaurant is really very unique, I never expect this place to have a different ambiance. At first glance at I saw from the outside, this restaurant looks normal, but a little scary if I see it from the outside. This restaurant looks like a house with 2 floors made of very sturdy teak wood.

Warung Lawas
The Antique Restaurant

I guess, if this restaurant didn't have such a wide entrance, no one even thinking that this is a restaurant. I think this is a restaurant that has a high selling price. Not from the food and drinks but from the experience and value of the antiques in this house. That's why I prefer this restaurant to be called a museum than the restaurant itself.

Let's start exploring from the outside to the inside of this restaurant. Beginning with a very large banner that reads 'Warung Lawas' or Old Stall. That's a suitable name because almost all of the items in it are antique. At the beginning there were several portraits or posters that I remember as old advertisements, from the 80s which can be seen from the color of the posters that are getting old.

Greeted with 'Soegeng Rawuh' from the Javanese language which means welcome, a warm welcome from a wooden board that is inscribed with a beautiful sentence. In a courtyard filled with several chairs and tables whose paint color has started to peel and fade, maybe due to the sun and rain every day, but the wood is still very sturdy to sit on and wear. there are several shady trees and plants, making this restaurant look cool especially when the breeze is blowing.

In several spots there are still several wooden windows arranged and displayed on the walls to cover and decorate the old walls. Not only posters from Indonesia, there are even those from abroad, in black and white. That's how this place was created with great detail to make the vintage feel even thicker.

Almost all antiques are displayed on the walls, one of which is a cigarette box from time to time. I never even realized that this cigarette case is older than my age. Of the various brands, flavors and years of production, I never even saw my mother use one of the types of cigarette brands that were there. Then on the left side I saw several types of tube TVs that were small and fit to be displayed on the top shelf, and there was a suitcase that I had seen in several films set in the 60's.

Likewise with several displays near the stairs which display several frames in the form of photos of heroes, newspaper and magazine clippings and black and white photos of buildings included in frames so they can be protected from dust and water which can damage them. Along the way up the stairs, I spent a few minutes looking at the collection of pictures and photographs in detail.

Likewise with a shelf filled with electronic goods that your parents might have had in the past. There are several televisions, radios and telephones and cameras of various types and brands. I think this is the perfect detail, featuring memories you must have had as a child. Remembering how it feels to watch TV with a tube TV that still has low picture quality, a radio with an antenna that is often played to find the right signal, all of that can remind us and make us nostalgic.

It didn't stop there, there were a number of hampers or food baskets displayed on several sides, there were also a lot of plates attached to the wall and it reminded me of how valuable these items were in the past. Stone dishes are my mother's treasure, even we use plastic plates for eating and plates with ceramic or stone materials can only be stored and not used for anything. Really just stored and collected.

There are also Vespas and antique motorbikes arranged in several places, these motorbikes were popular at that time. Every guy in the 60s and 80s would have wanted one, or your daddy would have had one of those long ago. It would be so enchanting to ride it, your father could seduce your mother with that motorbike, they finally got married and we were born into this world.

We move to the second floor, no less interesting than the first floor which is full of good memories. On the second floor I saw many paintings with lights that radiate majesty in art. Some of them definitely have a story, as well as other details that are never unique and antique. Apart from the beautiful paintings, I also saw some details like the chandeliers I've seen in some old buildings, and the chairs and tables that looked really old, and I think they were really old. However, the wood was not porous and even damaged. It's just that the paint on the wood looks very bad, but it is important that this table is very old and antique.

I guess making a museum in the form of a restaurant is not easy, how can this collection be maintained so well. Of course, the prices of antique items here are not cheap, they even tend to be expensive and difficult to obtain. of course, these are the properties needed to make a film set in the 60s. This is an investment in the form of a hobby collection.

See you the next time hive friends!

What a magnificent place, just like going back in time, the owner has really good taste to turn a restaurant into a museum as well.
