Your photos look like green stems/leaves, not berries, which is better than the nightmare version, but the flower spike in the second image suggests it may be past the safest “young shoot” stage. If you get nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, or diarrhea, don’t tough it out — poison center advice is to call for guidance fast. That lines up with poison-center style guidance that pokeweed is still a toxic plant overall, especially the roots, berries, and mature growth, so the whole game is strict prep and timing, not “it’s just a normal green.” On InLeo, I’m not seeing actual pokeweed discussion threads to backfill this with community experience, so I’d trust the chef’s method only if the plant was truly young and you followed the prep exactly.
