Shopping for siblings or close loved ones can be harder and stressful than you expect. Especially if you want to make it as a surprise, if the person you’re buying for has a different taste from yours and can be very selective. Getting a great gift for your sibling is very important, no matter what kind of relationship you have with them, because It’s true that siblings are famous for rivalries. But when it comes down to showing how much they really care, you probably don’t know what you would do without them. When shopping to plan a surprise for someone, you have to know what the person would like so as not to jeopardize the whole planning with a guess work and it’s very important to know this when shopping for wearable stuff.

Yesterday, on my way to visit my Mom, she came into town to see her girls, but she was at my big Sister’s place, she finds there more comfortable to live because it’s more fun than my house which is a boring place to live, and I too can attest that. I stopped by the central market to get few things and my intentions were to get some food items, but my attention totally got diverted to other things. I thought about getting my Mom and sister something, what they would both like and prefer as at that time, I had no idea. But I was sure of my sister, she would accept anything from me because we both have same taste but she’s a bit bigger than me. And my Mom, I wasn’t too sure about hers, she wouldn’t want any of these items I saw. She prefers buying her things herself or letting her make her own choice and I wanted to make it as a surprise even if it’s a little thing I can get.

We often give gifts to reconfirm and establish great connection with others. Giving a gift to someone we care about allows us to communicate our feelings by showing the act of appreciation to them. People in your life feel appreciated when they tend to receive something valuable from you.

I got a clothing line in the market, where they sell different fabrics, already made styles of clothes. They were all made in Nigeria fabric like the Ankara, Batik and Adire. Adire is a Yoruba name for the textile also known as Tie and Dye. The indigo-tied clothing, it is popular known to be made in southwestern Nigeria. I thought about getting an Adire gown for my Mom, because she had plans on getting one of such before now. I wouldn’t worry about the size, it was made as a free gown. I sent her pictures of the color she would want, now it was no longer a surprise. Trust me, she declined every of my offer. I couldn’t just leave the shop like that, after "wasting" much of the sellers time LOL. I picked one for myself because I liked it too. It was the first pink dress I went for and cost #4,000 in Nigeria currency and when converted it’s about $10.

(

I went further into the market, I bought few jean trousers for myself and my Sister. I sent her pictures of the design she would like, and she picked a boyfriend-jean, the whole buying turned into an online shopping for them. Since it was a boyfriend-jean, I didn’t worry about her size. She picked the one with the pink tie and a girl face on it. We both have something for pink, girls do LOL, and I got plain trousers. I also picked a mini-skirt for myself, the one with brown and cream color stripes on it.

I bought one of these Dunlop Slippers. It was the very first store I entered when I got to the market. I wanted to buy one slippers from the seller but the price was too high "for an ordinary Dunlop” I said to myself, so I left. On my way back from the whole shopping, I was heading to the car park, then the sellers stopped me again, persuading me to buy it. This time she has reduced the price but still too much. The initial price was #2,000, and later reduced to #1,500 but I was pricing for #700 and later got it for #1,000 after much negotiation.

My eyes are just feasting on all those colors :) Indeed gifts relay a lot of how we feel about the person receiving them so it is indeed a challenge to choose one.

So, now I have to ask! Did you get your mother something? It sounds like you didn't but, I am not sure! Did you go back to the grocery store? That would be hard to shop for your mom, especially if she likes to pick out her own. Or perhaps she just doesn't want you spending all your money on her, She knows how hard you work for your money... It sounds like you had a great time! Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday! I cannot tell you how pleased I am to see so many participating every week. Oh no... I didn’t add that.
My mom didn’t see what she wanted, and my grocery shopping was canceled.

Thank you 😊
