LA CÚRCUMA Y SUS PROPIEDADES. / THE CURCUMA AND ITS PROPERTIES.
La cúrcuma
A todos los que hacen vida acá en esta comunidad perteneciente a esta grandiosa red social, les deseo un feliz año 2023 cargado de mucha fortaleza y prosperidad. En el presente artículo se tomará en cuenta una de las plantas usadas por la medicina natural y tradicional heredada de nuestros ancestros, la cúrcuma.
El tema acerca de esta planta sucedió un día en que me encontraba en casa de una tía. Al rato sentí dolor en el estómago por lo cual la tía me da de beber una infusión amarilla bien caliente con un chorro de limón. Al rato de haber tomado el brebaje, el dolor ceso. Muy interesado le pregunte el ingrediente principal, a lo que me dice que usó jengibrillo o cúrcuma como comercialmente se le conoce al tubérculo que da la planta.
Me dio una raíz diciéndome que la sembrara cuando inicien las lluvias, de todos modos ella despertará Efectivamente llegué a casa y la guarde en una cajita de cartón que encontré, enseguida le abrí paso al olvido, hasta que un día la tía me preguntó por la planta que seguramente ya estada creciendo. Inmediatamente fui a la cocina, busque la caja y allí estada no solo la raíz, ¡Había germinado! La planta aprovechó el tubérculo ya que este estaba seco.
Es aquí donde inicia el proceso de siembra de cúrcuma en la casa. La planta creció bastante hubo florescencia y varias plantas cercanas a la principal. Al sacarla quedamos sorprendidos de la cantidad de tubérculos que tenía. Fue la primera cosecha, las lavé, seguidamente las corté en rodajas y las puse en el sol a fin de deshidratarlas.
Al secarlas preparé el molino manual aproveché y lo volví polvo que sirvió para preparar infusiones, también como aliño para carnes y pintar y comer arroz amarillo. Entre las lecturas que realicé acerca de la cúrcuma pude evidenciar que Venezuela es uno de los países que más produce cúrcuma para la industria alimenticia, como la producción de cubitos y sopas deshidratadas. Para este año 2023 Coseché unas cinco plantas ya que realmente carezco de terreno para siembra, sin embargo recolecte un peso de 2,5g de cúrcuma que me durará exactamente 1 año.

She gave me a root telling me to plant it when the rains start, anyway she will wake up. I did indeed get home and kept it in a little cardboard box that I found, I immediately gave way to oblivion, until one day my aunt asked me about the plant that was surely already growing. I immediately went to the kitchen, looked for the box and there was not only the root, it had germinated! The plant took advantage of the tuber because it was dry.

It is here that begins the process of planting cúrcuma in the house. The plant grew quite a lot and there were several flowering plants close to the main one. When we took it out we were surprised at the amount of tubers it had. It was the first harvest, I washed them, then cut them into slices and put them in the sun to dehydrate them.
When I dried them I prepared the manual mill and turned it into powder that I used to prepare infusions, also as a seasoning for meats and to paint and eat yellow rice. Among the readings I made about turmeric I could see that Venezuela is one of the countries that produces the most curcuma for the food industry, such as the production of cubes and dehydrated soups. For this year 2023 I harvested about five plants since I really lack of land for planting, however I collected a weight of 2.5g of curcuma that will last me exactly 1 year.
