Play Doh fun time.

Here is what we do when we miss school, because of having cold.

I completely forgot that my kids enjoyed playing with play doh when they were younger. I think it’s because, one day my daughter didn’t show any interest to a newly bought set of colors.

So after 2-3 years for the first time she asked me where were her play doh tools. Thankfully we found some shapes, and sets for cooking, but we didn’t have a lot of doh themselves. I found a few jars. My husband was sent to get some groceries, so play doh was added to the list.

You know what? This is worth every penny spent. The kid made up a game and was busy for 3 hours(!) with some breaks for snacks. She also played on the next day.

The game she made up, was her Teddy’s birthday. So she was cooking yummy breakfast for her Teddy and his friend. She was Teddy’s mom.

I know that play doh is not cheap, and goes faster than pencils or paint, but when your child is sick, I think it’s a great way of spending time together, it helps to forget about sore throat and stuffy nose.

Today is the second day of our state tests. Kids are strongly advised not to miss school on this day. I had to send my poor little girl to do her math test, cause we already missed one day of school. It’s such a stress for little kids to prepare for the test, and they are afraid to be late on the test day. I told my daughter to try her best but not to stress out about the results, I know that she can do it anyway.

I hope that you find it helpful the idea of giving a kid some Play Doh when missing school. I completely forgot we had the sets of tools, and I’m happy we’re now using them again. Even my older kid was playing with it a few days ago. The waffle maker is their favorite tool so far:-)
