They grouped again, now many more specimens on the wooden ceiling of the decorative water well, we were worried because there were already too many and that area of the house where we have the washing machine and the drinking water filter that we need to use daily, is an area of constant passage, so it was not an option to leave them there, and more when we see that they continued to arrive without stopping. Again my husband poured water with vinegar and lit another bonfire of dry leaves with cardboard and the smoke was bigger, so they moved away a little and for a longer time. They spent the day hovering around the site and when they perceived the smoke they flew away and then grouped in one of the leaves of a large papaya plant that is planted in the garden, some flew further away from home but most were concentrated in that area. The next day which was yesterday, in the morning we saw again these wasps in the area they chose, I do not know why, but we had to leave the house for the whole day so we barely managed to pour water with soap and vinegar to the place where they were concentrated and again light the fire for protection because this way it is difficult for them to attack you, the smoke leaves them stunned and scares them away. In the end we didn't do anything else but leave the house all day. When we returned my husband went out to the backyard, because he is watching for these wasps that insist on making a nest and we did not see any flying around, we said more calmly that they were gone and the fight with them was over. When we looked under the roof of the decorative well, we saw all the wasps concentrated there, impressive! It was there that I took the photos that I show here. When we see... they were already building their nest something so impressive because in a few hours they already had part of the structure of the nest ready, although only some of them were working, the others were all stuck there, all together. I was afraid to get closer or disturb the swarm, I thought that this time they would attack us, so I just took some pictures of them in action. Incredible as it may seem, they arrived unexpectedly and selected the site where their honeycomb would be built, so no matter what we wanted they would return to the same place. I don't know what is so special about that site, I think it is the wood, but it is amazing their constancy without fear of dying because we were attacking them, they returned to continue the work. Amazed at what was happening we made another decision as to how to deal with this situation.

De nuevo se agruparon, ahora muchos más ejemplares en el techo de madera del pozo de agua decorativo, nos preocupó pues ya eran demasiados y esa área de la casa en dónde tenemos la lavadora de ropa y el filtro de agua potable que necesitamos usar a diario, es una zona de constante paso, por eso no era una opción dejarlas allí, y más cuando vemos que seguían llegando sin parar. De nuevo mi esposo echó agua con vinagre y encendió otra fogata de hojas secas con cartón y el humo fue mayor, así se alejaron un poco y por más tiempo. Pasaron el día rondando el sitio y cuando percibían el humo se alejaban luego se agruparon en una de las hojas de una planta de papaya grande que está sembrada en el jardín, algunas volaron más lejos de casa pero la mayoría estaban concentradas en esa área. Al día siguiente que fue ayer, en la mañana vemos de nuevo estás avispas en la zona que escogieron, no se porque razón, pero teníamos que salir de casa por todo el día así que a penas logramos echar agua con jabón y vinagre al sitio donde se concentraban y de nuevo encender el fuego por protección pues así es difícil que lo ataquen a uno, el humo las deja atontadas y las ahuyenta. Al final no hicimos más sino que salimos de casa todo el día. Cuando regresamos mi esposo sale al patio trasero, pues está pendiente de estás avispas que insisten en hacer nido y no se veía ninguna por allí volando, dijimos más tranquilos que ya se habían ido y terminó la lucha con ellas. Cuando nos asomamos debajo del techo del pozo decorativo, vemos toda la cantidad de avispas allí concentradas, impresionante!! Allí fue que tome las fotos que muestro aquí. Cuando vemos... ya estaban construyendo su nido algo tan impresionante pues en pocas horas ya llevaban parte de la estructura del nido listos, aunque solo algunas trabajaban, las otras allí pegaditas, todas juntas. Me dio miedo acercarme más o molestar al enjambre pensé que esta vez si nos atacarían así que solo saqué algunas fotos de ellas en acción. Por increíble que parezca llegaron de imprevisto y seleccionaron el sitio donde se construiría su panal, de modo que hiciéramos lo que quisiéramos ellas volvían allí al mismo sitio. No sé que tiene de especial ese sitio creo que es la madera, pero es asombroso su constancia sin temer morir pues las estábamos atacando a ellas, volvían a seguir el trabajo. Asombrados de lo que sucedía tomamos otra decisión en cuanto a cómo afrontar está situación.

Yesterday the man who brought us back home, told us that diesel oil was very good in these cases of wasps, that yes again they were there. When we arrived and checked they were indeed there, more advanced in their nest, so again to the action to set fire to smoke and now spray with diesel oil the place they chose. This is what worked, after many of them left, others died there, my husband removed the piece of nest they had ready and where it was stuck he poured diesel oil so they would not return there. So far it has worked, most of them are gone, only a few were left inspecting the area and even other parts of the wood to try to achieve their goal. It is impressive what I read on the internet, as I wondered where they get the material to build their nests that look like paper, and brown... I read that the wasps create their familiar, crinkly purples from wood fibers torn from the bark with their strong mandibles that are then chewed and turned into pulp. That pulp is what they use for their huge honeycombs, an amazing and extraordinary group work, that is where thanks to these facts that I observe and know about nature I come to appreciate it more, all animals including these insects. After my husband peeled off the piece of honeycomb I was able to take some pictures of it. They have their internal structure and design done to perfection, another amazing thing these wasps do.

Ayer el señor que nos trajo de vuelta a casa, nos dijo que el gasoil era muy bueno en estos casos de avispas, eso sí de nuevo estuvieran allí. Al llegar y revisar en efecto estaban allí, más adelantadas en su nido, así que de nuevo a la acción prender fuego para que saliera humo y ahora rociar con gasoil el sitio que escogieron. Esto fue lo que funcionó, luego que se fueron muchas, otras murieron allí, mi esposo quitó de base el pedazo de nido que ya tenían listo y dónde estaba pegado echó gasoil para que no volvieran allí. Hasta ahora ha resultado, la mayoría se fueron solo quedaron unas como que inspeccionando la zona incluso otras partes de la madera para tratar de lograr su objetivo. Es impresionante lo que luego leí en internet, pues me preguntaba de dónde sacan el material para construir sus nidos que parecen de papel, y de color marrón??... Leí que las avispas crean sus conocidas y acartonadas moradas a partir de fibras de madera arrancadas de la corteza con sus fuertes mandíbulas que después son masticadas y convertidas en pulpa. Esa pulpa es la que usan para sus enormes panales, un asombroso y extraordinario trabajo en grupo, allí es donde gracias a estos datos que observo y conozco de la naturaleza llego a apreciarla más, a todos los animales entre ellos estos insectos. Después que mi esposo despegó el pedazo de panal pude sacarle unas fotos. Tienen su estructura interna y diseño hecho a la perfección, otra cosa asombrosa que hacen estás avispas.

Finally I managed to see the wasps already dead from fighting with them, there were some at the edge of the decorative water well and others on the ground. Then I grabbed one of the dead wasps and took a closer picture of it. I love to see details of insects and animals if possible, maybe before I couldn't because when the wasps are alive it is difficult to take a good picture if they are flying and the other thing is that I didn't have the tools to capture details of these insects. So I want to take advantage that I have the tools and I started to take pictures.

Por último logré ver a las avispas ya muertas de tanto luchar con ellas, habían algunas a orillas del pozo de agua decorativo y otras en el piso. Luego agarré una de las avispas muertas y les hice fotos más de cerca. Me encanta ver detalles de los insectos y animales si me es posible, quizás antes no pude pues cuando las avispas están vivas es difícil tomar una buena fotografía si están volando y lo otro que no tenía las herramientas para lograr capturar detalles de estos insectos. Así que quiero aprovechar que tengo las herramientas y empecé a tomar fotos.

There you can see these incredible insects with their bodies divided in two parts with a very thin central part. Now is when I most remember saying: "you have a wasp waist", hahaha, it means that your waist is very thin, it is a comparison that I heard many times. These insects also have their stinger and in their mouth I can see that they have two strong pincers, I imagine that is what they use to make the wood pulp to build their well designed nests. So far when I check the yard of the house there are still some of these wasps alive, flying near the wood but most of the swarm is gone, I hope they don't come back. I have never had anything like this happen to me, in fact I have lived in rural areas for many years and always saw these wasps with nests in trees and some abandoned mud houses, but in the middle of the city where there are so many houses next to each other and they chose this place...unbelievable! So far we suspect that in an area near where we live that is full of weeds they were burning them all, it was a big fire because you could see a lot of smoke, maybe the wasps had their honeycombs there and had to flee to find another place to build their homes. Now who knows where they would go after leaving here. Nearby there is a special place with trees for them, I hope they are far away from the houses, so they can live quietly and so can we, hahaha.

Allí se ven a estos increíbles insectos con sus cuerpos divididos en dos partes con su parte central muy delgada. Ahora es cuando más recuerdo el decir: "tienes cintura de avispa", jajaja, quiere decir que tu cintura es muy delgada, es una comparación que escuche muchas veces. Estos insectos tienen también su aguijón y en su boca puedo ver qué tienen como dos tenazas fuertes, me imagino que esa es la que usan para hacer la pasta de madera y así construir sus bien diseñados nidos. Hasta ahora cuando reviso el patio de la casa siguen alguna que otra de estas avispas vivas, volando cerca de la madera pero la mayoría del enjambre se fue, espero que no vuelvan. Nunca me había sucedido algo así, de hecho he vivido en zonas de campo por muchos años y siempre veía a estás avispas con nidos en árboles y algunas casas echas de barro abandonadas, pero en plena ciudad donde hay tantas casas juntas unas de otras y que escogieran este sitio...increíble!. Hasta ahora sospechamos que en una zona cercana a dónde vivimos que está llena de malezas las estaban quemando todas, era un incendio grande pues se veía mucho humo, puede ser que las avispas tenían allí su panal y tuvieron que huir a buscar otro sitio donde construir sus casas. Ahora quien sabe después de partir de aquí a dónde irían. Cerca hay un sitio de árboles especial para ellas, espero que estén lejos de las casas, así vivan tranquilas ellas y nosotros también, jajaja.
