Open letter to Rebel News and other Cancelled Conservatives

Dear Ezra Levant of Rebel News.

I have great respect for your work and read with great concern of you being "Cancelled" by Youtube and PayPal.

https://odysee.com/@RebelNews:9/help-paypal-is-trying-to-shut-down-rebel:c

However I am greatly frustrated by conservatives and libertarians who continue to use the platforms of their enemies - its is like the French resistance publishing their membership lists and plans in Der Sturmer!

Google, Facebook, Twitter and PayPal are the enemies of freedom, liberty and conservatives everywhere.

We must stop using their platforms for both content and payments and immediately adopt the excellent alternatives of Web 3.0 (decentralised, blockchain and cryptocurrency based solutions).

  • Cancel PayPal by adopting cryptocurrency as a payment method for all your customers, donors and suppliers. It is way cheaper and much more flexible. This means having self hosted wallets for multiple cryptocurrencies to accept anonymous donations, not just using Coinbase (not your keys not your crypto).
  • Cancel YouTube by posting all your videos first on decentralised platforms such as Odysee (LBRY) and 3Speak. I see you have Odysee but there is no Rebel News 3Speak channel (only OziAvi). If you still have YouTube access only post teasers (not full videos) which push the viewer to alternative platforms.
  • Cancel Facebook and Twitter by posting all your text content and links to videos (with text descriptions) first to the Hive blockchain using excellent front ends such as PeakD, Hive.Blog and D.Buzz (for short form content). If you must use these evil Big Tech platforms only post short teasers and direct the viewer to the full content on a decentralised platform.
  • Remove Big Tech links from your website and replace with decentralised alternatives. I note that you still have links to Facebook, Yourtube, Twitter and Instagram at the top of your website.

These Big Tech platforms only have power because people are too lazy to leave them, even when it is clear they are bad news and when there are way better, censorship resistant alternatives that allow you to earn money for your content and expose you to the future of finance.

Early adopters of Web 3.0 platforms are already having multiple major financial windfalls, just by posting content and being exposed to the new world of the decentralised web. There is an opportunity to become wealthy from cryptocurrency without investing a cent of your own money.

Just by posting the content you are already producing on multiple decentralised platforms you will earn cryptocurrencies which have huge growth potential - and you can help them grow by bringing over your audiences.

So you understand how this works and just how powerful an earning method it is let me give you and example: your video above about PayPal cancelling you. You can post it:

  1. on Odysee and earn LBRY;
  2. on 3Speak and earn HIVE (and additional SPEAK tokens in future);
  3. with a leofinance tag (as its related to finance) and earn LEO;
  4. with a proofofbrain tag (as its quality content) and earn POB;
  5. with a palnet tag (as its about Peace, Abundance, and Liberty) and earn PAL.

Each of LBRY, HIVE, SPEAK, LEO, POB and PAL cryptocurrencies not only earn you money now but have great potential for huge growth.

Also you will earn tips in a range of other cryptocurrencies.
I got a tip in DOGE about a year ago that was a small amount and now DOGE is up many hundred fold and the tip is worth meaningful money.

Promote Web 3.0 platforms to your audience - its a virtuous circle
Not only should you use these decentralised platforms yourself, but you need to promote them to your audience in all your emails and help them to join up too. Always use links to decentralised platforms in all your material and avoid links to Big Tech platforms.

This does require some learning and discipline but it a small price to pay for personal and financial freedom, as well as the opportunity to make big money long term.

By doing this not only are you helping to set your audience free from Big Tech Cancel Culture but you are enhancing the value of these decentralised platforms and the value of the cryptocurrencies you have earned by posting your content on them.

I have written a couple of articles (on Hive) to assist people leaving censoring centralised Big Tech platforms behind.

Interesting! My comment has nothing to say on the content of this post. It is instead prompted by the main tag "cancelculture", the use of which I find amusingly ironic as I will try to lay out in brief below (details are all in the links):

  • you posted a comment on this post in response to a comment by @lols. Your response - an example of this very same #cancelculture (certainly as I see it) - triggered punitive action against this user, effectively cancelling him (you can read his experience here).
  • in the same thread you interacted with @oldoneeye who objected to what you said. In reply to what was, at most, a personal attack on YOU (alignment, IQ), you levelled the same charge of anti-semitism at him (via the meme he used to illustrate your position as he saw it) as you had at lols. You also yourself made a couple of unpleasant, below-the-belt suggestions (which btw, did not get you 'cancelled' :). You can read Oldonneeye's thoughts on the matter here.
  • in the same thread again, when the 'anti-semitic' label was challenged and I asked you to provide some reasons as to why you consider the two memes in question to be anti-semitic, you ignored the invitation to clarify. I was moved to write about it myself, for the incident seemed to have struck a nerve with me.

Now, almost three months later, I saw this post and felt I would like to comment to round off this matter AFAIC. Unless of course you may be willing to list why you thought those memes to be anti-semitic and to openly discuss and explore a perspective that says that they cannot reasonably be said to be so. Of course, if the label may be applied subjectively, at will, and without particular consideration to actual context etc, why my good sir, is that not just a perfect example of this famous Cancel Culture that we speak of in action?

Mr. Hamilton, I'm not asking/expecting anything. You do what you like. This is the public blockchain, actions are still visible through the BLOCKS, and they still speak louder than words!

Please also accept a 100 percenter to add to that $500 fund, no sarcasm.

Shalom

I'm taking the liberty of calling this to the attn. of @frot and @palikari123, as you guys were actively involved in that discussion too :)

The irony here is so thick it is stuck to the brush...

What is irony? And what is cancel culture? I think some of these terms need to be explained to those who use them as a weapon, and then claim they are being used against them only! Apparently, this behaviour only applies to one side!

A new and improved non-stick brush may be required also!

Thanks for the tag and your well thought out comment! I was not aware of your original post, so had a read of it with your link from here. Very well said and done!

Perhaps we should downvote his post for 'Anti-Semitism', and then not provide any form of justification whatsoever, and flee the scene without rectifying ourselves.

Or not, but, yeah.

I must admit to not having seen your and others extensive sets of comments on the original LeoFinance post.
I just went back and looked at them now.
Funny that I was able to do that, given you think I "cancelled" @lols.

Let's get some things clear. Being cancelled means your content is removed from a platform and your credit card payment processor suddenly blocks your account with no explanation and despite 8 years and millions of dollars of business.

That's what happened to Rebel News. That's what happened to Tommy Robinson and even President Trump. It is not what happened to you, @lols, or @oldoneeye.

I simply exercised my right to downvote comments I considered anti-semitic. And I gave a clear explanation why which clearly other people with substantial stakes on Hive agreed with.

People get downvoted all the time, even on perfectly legitimate content, simply because other Hive stakeholders feel average content is getting too high a payout.

The Rothschild meme post WAS anti-semitic. It made the false claim that the Jewish Rothschild family is worth $500 Trillion and control the central banks of the world and own all the media etc etc. This is a classic anti-semitic trope and is completely false.

Moreover the claim that the Rothschilds are worth $500 Trillion is completely ridiculous to people in crypto, especially those on Leo Finance, who understand what has been going on with profligate money printing by central banks.

The Fed's recent stimulus created $9 Trillion in new money which was more than 2 centuries of previous money creation. https://news.bitcoin.com/9-trillion-in-stimulus-injections-the-feds-2020-pump-eclipses-two-centuries-of-usd-creation/

Total US Dollar M2 money supply is less than $20 Trillion - that's all the US Dollars in existence.
Screen Shot 2021-05-08 at 21.03.33.png

If you add up the M2 supplies from every central bank in the world you'll find that $500 Trillion is many many times more money than exists in the entire world!!!

Suggesting that US Jews have dual-loyalty is also a classic anti-semitic trope because it pejoratively singles out Jews for something all ethnic and religious groups and many people in general have - loyalty to multiple causes.
I don't see you putting up memes about Irish American's potential dual loyalties (although much IRA funding did come from US donors).

I will continue to downvote anti-semitic content and so will many others that care about Hive.

So, Rothschild is Good, because they are 'Jewish', according to you.
So you will endless lie and mislead everyone with your Tropes about how innocent they are, by using ridiculous Tropes about Trillions.
Smoke and Mirros much? Literally each paragraph you wrote contains misdirection, outright lies, and Tropes. I could deconstruct this entire Trope that you have laid out, and perhaps I will when I have more time.

It is clear that you are against the Jewish people, by inserting the entirety of the Jewish people, squarely onto the behavior of the most powerful banking cabal of all time.

You are Anti-Semitic.

Wow, that's checkmate to you then I guess :)

Joking! But thanks for replying and providing a reason for why you thought each of the memes to be anti-semitic.

My reply here is a considered one. I feel I need tread carefully, as through a semantic (and perhaps ideological) minefield. However, I did (re-)open this discussion and I do not wish to side-step trying to respond in a spirit of enquiry, rather than debate.

I respond to what you state:

Funny that I was able to do that, given you think I "cancelled" @lols.

Let's get some things clear. Being cancelled means your content is removed from a platform and your credit card payment processor suddenly blocks your account with no explanation and despite 8 years and millions of dollars of business.

That's what happened to Rebel News. That's what happened to Tommy Robinson and even President Trump. It is not what happened to you, @lols, or @oldoneeye.

These specific, 'high-profile' examples of Cancel Culture do not themselves provide a definition of it. We both clearly seem to regard CC as a weapon of sorts, being brought to bear on those who do not deserve it and which results in their voice being suppressed in some manner as well as other consequences. This is what you report happened with Rebel News. This is what happened with Lols. I do not consider myself to have been 'cancelled', nor my voice suppressed (I would guess that same would go for Oldoneeye, for even though the same weapon was used against him, it did not result in a punitive d/vote and even if it had, I doubt his voice would've been silenced :). The key is the act of weaponisation, be it at the level of high profilers with big institutional bucks involved or the level of the individual with no bucks but a nasty shock (for someone relatively new to the blockchain being d/voted to near 0 - not your action, but prompted entirely by your accusation of anti-semitism).

It's not clear what you mean by CC as what you provide is example, not definition. And yet, I would argue, we do agree - as this post implies - that CC contains elements of weaponising language which is then put to some unfair use, with consequences. Kinda?

So, why do I disagree that a claim for anti-semitism can be made against the two memes in question? Why am I asserting that the claim levelled at Lols (and to some extent at Oldoneeye) was an example of CC (weaponised, unfair, consequences)?

The Rothschild meme post WAS anti-semitic. It made the false claim that the Jewish Rothschild family is worth $500 Trillion and control the central banks of the world and own all the media etc etc. This is a classic anti-semitic trope and is completely false.

Moreover the claim that the Rothschilds are worth $500 Trillion is completely ridiculous to people in crypto, especially those on Leo Finance, who understand what has been going on with profligate money printing by central banks.

To make a false claim about the extent of someone's wealth and dominion of control still does not say anything that can be construed as anti-their-religion. Actually, it there is VERY credible evidence that the 'elite' families have vast untold fortunes and control much of the functioning of human society (I can provide links if you wish to explore this, and others may provide some too) in a manner that amounts pretty much to an 'open conspiracy'. The LIE - in this alternative narrative, which I also subscribe to - is so VAST that it can hide in plain sight and references to it made easy mockery of by the likes of yourself, who consider it incredible and therefore dismissible without examination. The Rothschilds are one of these elite families. This has nothing to do with the fact that they are Jewish. It certainly does not imply that they are in that position because they are Jewish. Even though that jump looks easy to make, it is not logical or intuitive - maybe paranoid even.

In the link you provided re. anti-semitic tropes, from March 2020, the seven tropes are listed as:
Jews have too much power.
Jews are disloyal
Jews are greedy
Jews killed Jesus
Jews use Christian blood for religious rituals
The Holocaust didn’t happen
Anti-Zionism or delegitmization of Israel

Even if it be implied that someone with a fortune of trillions and untold power over media and global institutions had too much power and is greedy, does that say anything about his/her faith/ethnicity etc? To my mind, those that wish to control human society and subvert freedom are powerhungry and greedy (to apply but mild epithets :), but those guys include folk who are not of the Jewish faith at all - Bill Gates and his BigPharma buddies for example.

Suggesting that US Jews have dual-loyalty is also a classic anti-semitic trope because it pejoratively singles out Jews for something all ethnic and religious groups and many people in general have - loyalty to multiple causes.

Regarding the second meme, referred to above, I quote myself:

In the second meme the words 'anti-semitic' appear as spoken by Jesus, himself a Jew. As far as I can see, there is nothing offensive going on here. The 'dual-citizenship', even if it does refer to 'Israeli-US' duality and thus hints at the influence that Israel has on the US political system, well even if so, is this really saying something offensive about people of the Jewish faith? Is it not a fact that Israel has tremendous influence in the US? Where's the anti-semitism here folks?

There is ample evidence that Israel has a lot of influence over the US and positions itself to its own advantage in the world of Realpolitik... it is not exceptional, in fact pretty much the rule, that countries use overt and covert means to secure power and influence. UK, US, Russia, the empires of old etc have all done it and it is old hat news. That Israel does this too is not a drama moment in this regard! Links can be provided to some of the supporting materials if requested or you can look it up yourself.

Of course connections can be reached for and brought into being by the selective use and weaponisation of language, this thing called CC that we speak of (and frankly, which the document you link to on tropes seems to be encouraging). That sir, to my mind, is what you did: you made connections that were not there, neither in intent (as far as I can make out) nor in content of the meme-posters. It was a knee-jerk reaction it would seem, not consciously malicious, yet, I think, made in an irresponsible manner which made use of the weaponisation of a highly sensitive term, the doing of which, to my mind, does a great disservice to those who through history were actually targeted because of their Jewish faith, and suffered.

Saying something is 'so', doesn't make it so, regardless of who and how many people support the sayer. In this instance, the support you got from the big Leo account was concerning although they stated in the comments that the reason was because the content was irrelevant to the post (mixed message IMO, but one that doesn't directly agree with your accusation of anti-semitism against the first meme). I did not see any other support for this particular action of yours and so do not acknowledge the legitimacy of your claim to the support for it that you speak of.

Of course this could go on forever and I don't particularly wish it to. AFAIC, we're all responsible for ourselves and that's all we can be.

Hey there, it has been a while since we touched base, I sincerely hope that you are doing well.

The censorship is overwhelming lately, and I firmly believe that decentralization and diversity is the way forward for the big fish. At the same time I find it fascinating how they cling so dearly to the conventional platforms of exposure, even if it means they end up playing the victim card when their content gets removed.

On a side note, completely off topic - my daughter made it to university, and is studying her LLB, First year; as a lawyer I thought you'd appreciate the sentiment.

Congrats on your daughter getting into law.

Most people are so change averse that they cling on to things that they know are bad for them just to avoid having to learn something new.

I'll admit I don't have a lot of insightful things to say about this, but I wanted to thank you for this post, because I hadn't heard about LBRY before. Going to check it out and see if it's for me.

I'm happy I found Steemit years ago, because it really helped me share my content and earn a little something for it too. Hive now fills that spot. To me, it's much better than social media. There's no adds or real censoring, other than the possibility of downvotes. In that regard, you can either choose to stay on the safe side of topics and get a bigger chance to 'cash in', or you can be a renegade, say whatever the heck you like and have a chance to receive downvotes and a low reputation.

Sure, there's crap posts and they get rewarded way too much, while things you put your heart in hardly get noticed, but that's basically just life. You either need the right connections, a little luck, or lots and lots of hard work to get anywhere. If you want to get heard, you might aswell do it on the blockchain.
