El día de hoy quiero compartir con todos ustedes cómo resultó ser la odisea del trámite de mi pasaporte. Un trámite que aparenta ser sencillo, pero que en realidad puede convertirse en una tortura y más aún cuando tu salud no es la más óptima.

Today I want to share with all of you how the odyssey of my passport process turned out to be. A process that appears to be simple, but in reality can become a torture and even more so when your health is not the best.

El pasado día 30 de octubre del año 2022, decidí comenzar a tramitar mi nuevo pasaporte, dado que en anterior ya estaba vencido y con una prórroga, lo cual me imposibilitaba solicitar una nueva prórroga, por ende ingresé a la página oficial del SAIME (SERVICIO ADMINISTRATIVO DE IDENTIFICACION MIGRACION Y EXTRANJERIA) de acá de Venezuela. http://www.saime.gob.ve/ allí entre con mi usuario y clave para solicitar mi pasaporte, cabe destacar que este trámite no es nada económico, el valor del pasaporte Venezolano cuesta aproximadamente 210 USD o lo que es igual a 567 (HIVE) esto de acuerdo al precio de Binance.

Last October 30, 2022, I decided to begin to process my new passport, since the previous one was already expired and with an extension, which made it impossible for me to request a new extension, therefore I entered the official website of SAIME (ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE OF IDENTIFICATION, MIGRATION AND FOREIGNERSHIP) here in Venezuela. http://www.saime.gob.ve/ there I entered with my username and password to request my passport, it should be noted that this process is not cheap, the value of the Venezuelan passport costs approximately 210 USD or what is equal to 567 (HIVE) this according to the price of Binance.

Luego de pagar el trámite a los 3 días me asignaron la cita del pasaporte, la cual me la acordaron para el día 24 de noviembre (casi un mes). Según tenía entendido que luego de la cita el resto de trámites era rápido y la entrega del pasaporte no demoraría más de 15 días. Cosa que yo particularmente no lo creía, pues conozco lo lento que pueden ser los organismos públicos de mi país. Sin embargo, mantenía la fe de que efectivamente en 15 días me entregarían el documento.

After paying for the procedure, 3 days later I was assigned the passport appointment, which was scheduled for November 24 (almost a month). It was my understanding that after the appointment the rest of the paperwork was fast and the delivery of the passport would not take more than 15 days. I did not particularly believe this, as I know how slow the public agencies in my country can be. However, I kept the faith that the document would be delivered to me in 15 days.

El día de la cita llegué algo temprano a las 8 am. Pero no fue hasta las 2.36 pm que por fin me atendieron ya desgastado y acalorado por ese día comencé a contar 15 días para la entrega del documento. Al vencerse los supuestos 15 días veo que mi trámite se mantenía en el mismo estatus, de (datos captados), no fue sino hasta el día 21 de diciembre cuando el sistema me indica que mi pasaporte había Sido impreso ya casi 1 mes después de la solicitud. Sin embargo, la espera continuaría dado que tenían que enviármelo desde la capital del país hasta mi ciudad.

Luego de casi 1 semana el sistema me arroja que mi pasaporte había Sido enviado a la oficina de mi ciudad. Sin embargo, los días pasaban y aun el sistema no me indicaba que el pasaporte había Sido recibido de manera satisfactoria. Así finalizó el 2022 y aún me encontraba a la expectativa de su mi pasaporte había llegado o no. La única manera que tenía de averiguarlo era trasladándome directamente a la oficina del SAIME en Barquisimeto, sin embargo, por problemas de salud los cuales les conté en este Post me era imposible movilizarme.

After almost 1 week the system showed me that my passport had been sent to the office in my city. However, the days went by and the system still did not indicate that the passport had been received satisfactorily. So 2022 ended and I was still waiting to find out if my passport had arrived or not. The only way I could find out was to go directly to the SAIME office in Barquisimeto, however, due to health problems which I related in this Post it was impossible for me to move.

El día lunes 16 de enero, decidí interrumpir un poco mi reposo terapéutico y a pesar de las molestias y el dolor que tenía, me movilice a la oficina administrativa a solicitar información de mi trámite. ¡SORPRESA! El pasaporte se encontraba en la oficina, sin embargo, debido al precario servicio que brinda migración no habían actualizado la plataforma. Muchas personas se estaban quejando de lo mismo e inclusive había personas quienes les aparecía una multa por no retirar su pasaporte a tiempo. Sin embargo, estás personas desconocían, al igual que yo, que nuestro pasaporte ya estaba en la oficina por cuánto el sistema jamás actualizaba.

On Monday, January 16, I decided to interrupt my therapeutic rest for a while and despite the discomfort and pain I was in, I went to the administrative office to request information about my procedure. SURPRISE! The passport was in the office, however, due to the precarious service provided by migration they had not updated the platform. Many people were complaining about the same thing and there were even people who were fined for not picking up their passport on time. However, these people did not know, as I did, that our passport was already in the office because the system was never updated.

Esto me generó mucha satisfacción y a pesar de las molestias físicas que tenía converse con un funcionario y me cedió una silla para descansar, sin embargo, el dolor era continuo, a pesar de que no había muchas personas en la fila, la atención era algo lenta a tal punto que cuando se hizo medio día se cayó el sistema situación que retraso mucho más la diligencia.

This gave me a lot of satisfaction and despite the physical discomfort I had, I talked to an official and he gave me a chair to rest, however, the pain was continuous, although there were not many people in line, the attention was somewhat slow to the point that when it was half day the system was down, a situation that delayed much more the diligence.

Luego de 2 horas sin sistema, reanudan las labores y comenzaron nuevamente a recoger las cédulas de identidad. Ya cuando se hacían las 3 de la tarde pase a retirar mi pasaporte.

After 2 hours without the system, they resumed the work and began to collect the identity cards again. At 3 o'clock in the afternoon I went to pick up my passport.

Esto me generó una gran alegría, puesto que este instrumento de identificación me dará la posibilidad de poder viajar al exterior tal como lo he tenido previsto; sin embargo, es menester que primero me recupere totalmente de mi condición médica de salud. Mi próximo viaje con el favor de Dios será a la República de Cuba.

This gave me great joy, since this instrument of identification will give me the possibility of being able to travel abroad as I had planned; however, it is necessary that I first fully recover from my medical condition. My next trip, with God's favor, will be to the Republic of Cuba.
