The two hundred years old church

Hoy les contare un poco sobre la iglesia de mi ciudad, una de las edificaciones mas antiguas que no solo siguen de pie, sino que su estructura aun emana la gloria que vivió hace ya muchos años.

Today I will tell you a little about the church of my city, one of the oldest buildings that not only still stands, but its structure still exudes the glory that lived many years ago.

La iglesia de Santa Barbara, una estructura increíblemente magnifica para estar en una pequeña ciudad fronteriza que en su momento era solo un pueblo cafetalero, cuya primera construcción fue a principios de 1800 durante una época en que esta ciudad solo era un asentamiento de paso para las personas que iban a diferentes regiones y descansaban en este territorio antes de seguir su camino. La verdad sobre esta iglesia es que su primera edificación a la actual, son muy diferentes, pero, no significa que no sean igual de impresionantes ya que desde un principio, esta iglesia no solo represento la imponencia de la fe cristiana, sino en la esperanza y la salvaguarda de los viajeros cuyo camino era incierto y lleno de peligros.

The church of Santa Barbara, an incredibly magnificent structure to be in a small border town that at the time was just a coffee town, whose first construction was in the early 1800's during a time when this city was just a transit settlement for people going to different regions and resting in this territory before continuing on their way. The truth about this church is that its first construction is very different from the current one, but, it does not mean that they are not equally impressive since from the beginning, this church not only represented the imposing Christian faith, but also the hope and the safeguard of travelers whose way was uncertain and full of dangers.

Por muchos años, la iglesia vio el ir y venir de los viajeros, el crecimiento del pequeño asentamiento en ciudad y transformarse de ser unas cuantas dispersas y una ciudad pavimentada y en volverse el centro de la ciudad. Si esas paredes hablaran quien sabe cuántas historias contaría… Cuantos misterios que rodean esta ciudad serian descubiertos y cuantos casamientos que se dieron en secreto años atrás serian revelados. Durante mediados del siglo XIX esta iglesia sufrió muchos daños y reconstrucciones que la volvieron lo que es hoy en día, pasando un día a centro de adoración eclesiástico a bastión de defensa durante algunas de las guerras civiles que tuvieron lugar en el pasado. Entre su destrucción siempre renacía como el ave fénix.

For many years, the church saw the comings and goings of travelers, the growth of the small settlement into a city and its transformation from a scattered few and a paved town into the center of the city. If those walls could talk, who knows how many stories it would tell... How many mysteries surrounding this city would be uncovered and how many marriages that took place in secret years ago would be revealed. During the middle of the 19th century this church suffered many damages and reconstructions that made it what it is today, passing one day from a center of ecclesiastical worship to a bastion of defense during some of the civil wars that took place in the past. In the midst of its destruction it was always reborn like a phoenix.

Quise mostrarles esta iglesia y parte de su historia para que vieran algo que no solo representa una estructura en el centro de mi ciudad, sino que se trata de un emblema que a lo largo de los años represento y sigue representando a la población y que alberga mas historias misteriosas de las que se pueden imaginar.

I wanted to show you this church and part of its history so that you could see something that not only represents a structure in the center of my city, but an emblem that over the years has represented and continues to represent the population and that holds more mysterious stories than you can imagine.
