Succulents Seedlings Collected this Weekend đ [EN - FR]
As you have maybe seen and understood, I am a nature lover and gardening enthusiast. Cutting is a technique that I have always loved, because in doing so, one makes a perfect clone of the original plant specimen... This fascinated me from a very young age, just as it was perhaps the "free" or rather offered dimension that was one of the main characteristics of Nature.
I read with pleasure - and look forward to them ! - the articles of @ewkaw. The photographs are always sublime and sensitive and in the course of a comment a few days ago, a challenge was thrown to me :
For some time now, I have been wanting to expand my collection of succulents, but above all to diversify it! During our walk this past weekend, we passed by several plant shops. As we had talked about it, I didn't tear off any leaves, as much as I consider that Nature and economic logic don't mix well - the state of the world proves it every day - I also respect the work of people, and especially the reasons why they work...
All these plants come from the surroundings of the pots where they used to grow. In the last shop, the storage and presentation conditions were not really adapted and I think the plants were also handled a lot !
The only one we bought was this Adromischus cooperi, which we just gently repotted :
This one is a Xerosicyos danguyi, commonly known as the "Silver Dollar Plant". We were lucky to find such a piece and I hope it works well !
This is a Ceropegia linearis or "String of hearts". This one is perhaps the most delicate, it is particularly tiny...
I'm not sure of the exact species here, but it's the succulents you see most often... I think it's Crassula, but I'd be happy to have more details !
These are little buttons of Crassula perforata also called "String of buttons" or "Necklace vine". Particularly cute !
We found this piece of Biondia microcentra on the ground in one of the greenhouses at the Jardin des plantes. I really hope it works, because the original plant was really beautiful !
Here, two leaves Crassula ovata or "Jade plant". I could not identify the third one...
Here again, a further identification would be welcome as I did not manage to do so... For most of the plants present, I used a plant recognition application (Picture this). I know, it's not very professional, but it usually gives good results - well, sometimes not at all ^^ !
I hope you enjoyed this article, if you did please feel free to comment with your questions and feelings ! I also hope that the week starts well for you, I wish you a very pleasant evening :)
See you soon !

Nice!! :D
I had Adromischus cooperi and I killed it. It is a beautiful plant. Do not overwater it. It absolutely hates it.
Such cool finds!
These two look like another Adromischus
And this is Sedum morganianum
I got my Crassula perforata as a cutting too and it was abut the size of yours. It grew to a giant! You can see here. They are just so easy to root and grow.
Now we wait :)
Yeaah ! I did think of you and it was definitely a plus to see it as a kind of challenge too :) Waiting time indeed begins đ€
All right, I'll follow your advice ! apparently those Adromischus cooperi like growing in mist, so maybe no water directly in the pot (?) ...
Thank you for the help on identification đ I will surely find a second hand books about cacti and succulents soon ! As I told @nikv, I'm going to a greenhouse near Paris, I hope I'll see impressive specimens but for sure, I'll do a reportage about it !
Wow ! your Crassula perforata looks AMAZING and super healthy ! Did you change the pot a lot during the 7-8 years ?
Nope :D I treated it terribly and she just kept growing. That's how tough they are. You will love it!
When she was that tiny cutting I left it in some community pot to grow roots, then potted it in small clay pot and later to the larger clay pot, but just because it started to tilt and fell a few times. It stayed in it for years. Only recently I renewed it all and she is doing great :)
:D I could be wild too with the ones at home, but they always find a way and sometimes grow exponentially, like they're playing their last card and then would try to propagate in every near clear space of land !
I never had this type of Crassula at home, and I'm very curious and impatient to follow their development !
Have a nice day dear, I hope the week went well for you !
These seedlings are good to grow in home gardens.
yeah, this is indeed their new home :))

Nice finds! The leaves above Crassula perfoliata could be sedums and the ones with the red edges look like Sedum nussbaumerianum
thanks you ! I really need to improve my skills of identification, but it's also nice as it allow more experts ones to help on certains specimens :) I'm going in a big greenhouse today, I hope I'll eventually find some nice fallen leaves !
Great idea! I also have a nice collection of succulents. One of my favorite is called mil hijos here - one thousand children - it grows tons of babies on itself and they fall off and create even more plants. We also have a lot of jade here and some others that you can eat, but I forget what they are called. They get little flowers. I've never heard of the group you posted in. I'm going to join and add a post about my succulents!
What a coincidence !! I just visited a greenhouse today and I took a picture of this one mil hijos it's a Kalanchoe nadyae :)
I would be super curious to see about the plants you have and especially the one that is edible !!
Glad that you that I made you indirectly discover this group, first time I shared something :)
+đ about your name !!
I was not able to germinate the cactus seeds that I bought, I think I am just going to mimic this style of propagation.
aĂŻe aĂŻe, what didn't work ? No plant at all ?
I don't really know for the cacti but succulents are usually simple to multiply that way :)
be well đ»
Yes, no plant at all. Maybe I was scammed on buying the seeds online.
:-/ yeah, I find it difficult too for plants and seeds online ... I hope youâll have more luck next time, but the succulent cloning works very well so itâs quite satisfying :)
