Los venezolanos hemos vivido esta situación en múltiples ocasiones; nos hemos quedado sin agua, sin luz, sin gas. La luz es dada por la electricidad, por ende al faltar la corriente eléctrica no hay luz ni internet y el que no aprovechó de cargar la batería de su teléfono, también se queda sin comunicación.
We Venezuelans have lived this situation multiple times; we have run out of water, electricity, gas. The light is provided by electricity, so when there is no electricity, there is no light or internet and those who did not take the opportunity to charge the battery of their phone, are also left without communication.
Los apagones no se hacen esperar y nos dan cada sorpresa, que varios de los artefactos eléctricos han dejado de funcionar; en mi caso de cuatro televisores, solamente queda uno, sin mencionar otros casos. En esa circunstancia no puedo imaginar cómo hacen las personas que no tienen un gran tanque que les permita almacenar agua para tanto tiempo.
I have mentioned other times that my oldest son and his father live in another city for work reasons; well, in that place the water comes once a month and sometimes it takes up to two months. In that circumstance I can't imagine how people who don't have a big tank that allows them to store water for such a long time.
Este tema me hizo recordar cuando pasaba vacaciones en el pueblo de mi abuelita en cuyo lugar llegaban cisternas con agua pero también traíamos agua de un aljibe cercano. Teníamos luz cuando encendían la planta eléctrica a las 6:00 pm hasta las 11:30 pm. No recuerdo cuando pusieron los postes para la energía eléctrica ni cuando construyeron el embalse del agua.
This topic reminded me of when I used to spend vacations in my grandmother's town, where cisterns would arrive with water, but we also brought water from a nearby aljibe. We had electricity when they turned on the power plant at 6:00 pm until 11:30 pm. I don't remember when they put up the power poles or when they built the water reservoir.

Pienso que no sobrevivimos sin agua ni luz solar pero podemos sobrevivir con agua y sin energía eléctrica, ya que hay otras formas de obtener energía a través del sol, por ejemplo. ¿Podrías imaginar el planeta sin agua? Permanecer sin agua y sin luz durante una semana es para volverse locos. Hemos tenido días en los cuales no tenemos agua ni energía eléctrica lo que se traduce en una situación agobiante porque tampoco tenemos gas y entonces si no hay electricidad las cocinas que requieren de este tipo de energía no funcionan y en consecuencia no preparamos comida. ¿Qué hacemos? Comemos pan.
I think we don't survive without water and sunlight but we can survive with water and without electric power as there are other ways to get energy through the sun, for example. Could you imagine the planet without water? To go without water and light for a week is maddening. We have had days in which we have no water or electricity, which translates into an overwhelming situation because we also have no gas and then if there is no electricity, the stoves that require this type of energy do not work and consequently we do not prepare the food. What do we do? We eat bread.
Realmente no quiero siquiera imaginar pasarme una semana sin agua y sin luz. Eso sería andar muerta de sed y de hambre, además de incomunicada. Por otro lado si tengo que decidir, obviamente selecciono el agua. El agua es vida. Nos sirve para subsistir, lavar, preparar comida, bañarse, curar heridas, etc. Aunque dentro de este contexto del mundo moderno el agua y la luz son indispensables.
I really don't even want to imagine spending a week without water and electricity. That would mean being thirsty and starving, as well as being cut off from communication. On the other hand, if I have to decide, obviously I choose water. Water is life. It serves us to subsist, to wash, to prepare food, to bathe, to heal wounds, etc. Although in this context of the modern world, water and light are indispensable.

El agua es un líquido vital, los seres humanos y animales, necesitamos una ingesta diaria del líquido para sobrevivir, asi que pienso igual que tú , si hay que decidir vivir sin agua sería lo peor. Sus anécdotas son difíciles yo no he vivido nada de eso, los humanos aprendemos a adaptarnos y ustedes se han tenido que adaptar, pero sea como sea, es difícil, triste e injusto.

When I put my feet in your shoes I can understand the constant predicament you are under and get an appreciation in your efforts in conserving water resources. I hope one day these needs get resolved for the real benefit of you and your neighbors.

I asked this question on a hypothetical but I have read so many stories and experiences of going with either or both at the same time and can only imagine the hardships that come with it.
I see all your water on standby just in case. What happens in some parts of my country too but I live in the city.. a couple of days without, it's a big deal.
