1️⃣ Con Covid, bloqueos y problemas de fuerza laboral debido a esto, muchas personas han tenido más tiempo libre que en el pasado. Así que, al repasar algunas de las cosas que has estado haciendo, mi objetivo es llevarnos por el carril de la memoria.
¿Cuál es una receta que ha traído de su infancia que hace hoy y cuál es el recuerdo de la infancia que la acompaña? ¿Cómo te hace sentir?
Para muchos es conocido que no me agrada la cocina pero las sopas me quedan bien. El recuerdo culinario de mi mamá que conservo en mi mente son las hallacas. Este es un plato tradicional navideño que dicen “Las mejores hallacas las hace mi mamá”, todos dicen eso respecto a su mamá. Cuando mi madre hacía hallacas, siempre me correspondía lavar las hojas; luego que ella fallece mis hermanas y cuñadas se encargaron de la elaboración del plato y yo siempre lavando hojas.
It is known to many that I am not fond of cooking but soups suit me well. The culinary memory of my mom that I keep in my mind is hallacas. This is a traditional Christmas dish that they say "The best hallacas are made by my mom", everyone says that about their mom. When my mother made hallacas, it was always my job to wash the leaves; after she passed away my sisters and sisters-in-law took over the preparation of the dish and I always washed the leaves.
Al llegar la debacle a mi país, cada integrante de mi familia se quedó en su lugar de residencia, ya no volvimos a reunirnos; entonces comía hallacas que me regalaban, hasta el año pasado que dije: ¡Basta! Haré mis propias hallacas.
Gracias a Dios y a mi esposo, tuve la disponibilidad económica para hacer mis hallacas en las dos fechas importantes del mes de diciembre. El día 24 cené con mis hijos, uno de mis hermanos y 3 invitados. Me sentí feliz, muy dichosa por ese acontecimiento. Eso fue el inicio para salir de una tristeza profunda por la que travesaba.
When the debacle hit my country, each member of my family stayed in their place of residence, we never met again; then I ate hallacas that I was given as gifts, until last year when I said: Enough! I will make my own hallacas.
Thanks to God and my husband, I had the economic availability to make my hallacas on the two important dates of December. On the 24th I had dinner with my children, one of my brothers and 3 guests. I felt happy, very happy for that event. That was the beginning to get out of a deep sadness I was going through.

Aquí en Venezuela solamente tenemos dos períodos: uno de sequía que llamamos verano y otro lluvioso que denominamos invierno.
En Venezuela no se dan las 4 estaciones debido a su ubicación geográfica, en el cual la inclinación de los rayos solares son más directos, por encontrarse en la zona intertropical su incidencia es casi perpendicular durante todo el año.

Acá en Venezuela florece nuestro árbol emblemático, el araguaney pero eso también ha cambiado, casi no se ven. Me gusta el sonido de la lluvia y del verano me gusta el sol que me calienta, lo malo es la calor.

Not much beats Mom's home holiday cooking does it?
In my case, my father was a Sous Chef and did most of the holiday cooking as my mother worked more hours than he did. Always great holiday meals too.

@antoniarhuiz !!!! ... A mí también me tocaba lavar las hojas!!! Jajajaja, esa era mi tarea todos los años. Cuando mamá partió de este plano, la hicimos mi hermana y yo... Eso fue una tarea titánica, nos salieron más de 120 hallacas, pero con toda la tropa de hermanos y sobrinos,no duraron mucho.
Me hiciste recordar esa bonita época, dónde todo giraba alrededor de la cocina y mamá.

Yo creo que a muchas nos toco lavar hoja 😅😂🤣 después me tocaba colocarle las aceitunas, alcaparras y pasas., hasta que mi abuela vio que me encantaban las pasas 🤣 fue grato leerte y recordar esa época en que nos reuníamos en casa de mi abuela para realizar las hallacas, ahora las hacemos donde mi mamá, Dios permita que puedas realizarlas este año.
