Damsel (Review)

El día de hoy es un placer venir con una nueva opinión, ya que siempre es necesario un momento de desconexión de la vida adulta y en mi caso de la vida universitaria. Desde hace un tiempo para acá me vine gustando los dragones por eso como sabia de su estreno hace poco me vi, Damsel.
As I said this movie was recently released on the Netflix platform, among the actors we have Millie Bobby as Princess Elodie (I met her in Enola Holmes), Nick Robinson as Prince Henry, Robin Wright as Queen Isabelle, Angela Bassett as Lady Bayford among other actors. The screenplay is by Dan Mazeau and producer Roth/Kirschenbaum.
Como dije esta película se estrenó hace poco en la plataforma de Netflix, entre los actores tenemos a Millie Bobby como la Princesa Elodie (la conocí en Enola Holmes), Nick Robinson como el príncipe Henry, Robin Wright como la Reina Isabelle, Angela Bassett como Lady Bayford entre otros actores. El guion es de Dan Mazeau y la productora Roth/Kirschenbaum.
SourceThe story is about a girl who has her village in famine and they need money, so they offered her the opportunity to marry a prince from another kingdom and they would give her gold in exchange. The family accepted, especially Elodie who always does her duty, when they got to the other kingdom everything was going well but things got messy after the marriage.
La historia va de una chica que tiene su pueblo en hambruna y necesitan dinero, entonces le ofrecieron la oportunidad de casarse con un príncipe de otro reino y ellos le darían oro a cambio. La familia acepto, especialmente Elodie que siempre cumple con su deber, cuando llegaron al otro reino todo iba bien pero las cosas se pusieron turbias después del casamiento.
The story as such seems very good to me, sincerely the sacrifices are an attraction in any fantasy film I like, included with the medieval setting make it look like a promising film however in terms of special effects I felt it very stilted and not so real, something that disenchanted me but nevertheless the story can tell itself.
La historia como tal me parece muy buena, sinceramente los sacrificios son un atractivo en cualquier película de fantasía me gustan, incluido con la ambientación medieval lo hacen ver como una película prometedora sin embargo en termino de efectos especiales lo sentí muy rebuscado y no tan real, cosa que me desencanto pero sin embargo la historia se puede contar sola.
SourceWe have a pretty miserable kingdom, where in theory he gives the daughters of his royal lineage to the dragon so that it does not attack his kingdom, however what this dragon does not know is that they are not really royalty. This part caused me a great conflict because the dragon as such is not the villain of the story but the same kings of that place who take advantage of others and deceive, causing you a great helplessness for both the dragon and Elodie.
Tenemos a un reino bastante miserable la verdad, donde en teoría entrega las hijas de su linaje real al dragón para que este no ataque a su reino, sin embargo lo que no sabe este dragón es que ellas en realidad no son de la realeza. Esta parte me causo un gran conflicto porque el Dragón como tal no es el villano de la historia si no, los mismo reyes de ese lugar que se aprovechan de los demás y engañan, causándote una gran impotencia tanto por el dragón como Elodie.
Speaking of Elodie, we can give Millie Bobby a round of applause because most of the time it's her in action in a cave with the dragon, you can say that if the acting or what's going on wasn't good it would have taken away from the movie but it has that touch you can tell it's more because of her acting, although I don't deny that at times her character was a bit inconsistent with her fits of euphoria but let's be clear...without that scripted convenience no doubt the poor girl doesn't survive.
Hablando de Elodie, podemos darle un aplauso a Millie Bobby porque la mayor parte del tiempo es ella en acción en una cueva con el dragón, se puede decir que si la actuación o lo que está sucediendo no estuviera bueno hubiera quitado la película pero tiene ese toque que se puede decir que es más por la actuación de ella, aunque no niego que a veces su personaje era un poco incoherente con sus ataques de euforia pero estemos claros…sin esa conveniencia de guion sin duda no sobrevive la pobre muchacha.
SourceOn the other hand, what gave me the most satisfaction and made it worthwhile was the ending. Since it leads you to an ending that is, shall we say, unfair? That includes the fight between the two of them, which were deceived and hurt by an exist kingdom that only did things to their convenience, that's why I liked so much the empowerment of the two to be able to do justice and not end up killing each other, because the Dragon despite having killed several "princesses" did it for the fact because of the pain she felt for what had been taken away from her.
Por otro lado lo que más me dio satisfacción que hizo que valiera la pena, fue el final. Ya que te va guiando a un final se puede decir ¿injusto? Que incluye la lucha entre ellas dos, las cuales fueron engañadas y lastimadas por un reino exista que solo hacia las cosas a su conveniencia, por ello me agrado tanto el empoderamiento de las dos para poder hacer justicia y no terminar matándose entre ellas, porque el Dragón a pesar de haber asesinado a varias “princesas” lo hacía por el hecho por el dolor que ella sentía por lo que le habían quitado.
This is a movie that I don't think is the best thing to come out this month, but it is quite entertaining and more so if you like the action and fantasy theme, especially dragons. I wouldn't say it's a self conclusive movie as it can lead to a new one between the two of them, I would give it a 6/10 on a rating, but let me know what you guys think of it.
Esta es una película que no creo que sea lo mejor que pueda salir este mes, pero es bastante entretenida y más si te gusta el tema de la acción y fantasía, sobre todos los dragones. No diría que es una película auto conclusiva ya que puede dar pie a un nueva entre ellas dos, le pondría un 6/10 en una calificación, pero díganme ustedes que piensan de ella.
