Painting An African Mother From Abstract Mind.

Good day Hivers! Today,I didn't feel like making something out of reference so I decide to make up something from my head.

This is a painting of a local African woman backing an infant with a big bucket on her head. I am an African and most of my works,I believe should reflect more of my society.

I made this painting with watercolor..But I first sketched/outlined with a pen then I overlayed with desired colors to create an impression.

At first the woman was looking pretty and young but I wanted a much older woman with a sad looking face that portrays her state of poverty.

That is amazing that you can do so much detail without reference. I wish I had that skill! I have to have a model right in front of me to get anything good!

Really? Doing alot of quick life figure sketches in the past as build my imaginative skill. And most time after life drawings,I try to draw from head..more like annotating what I studied in an exam. I think you can try that also. Thanks for your complimentary words.

I'll have to try from memory after my next drawing session. I love drawing but I'm not as good at it as I am with photography.
