Butter Coffee. Yeay or Nay?
There are many unique coffee combinations for coffee connoisseurs.
Do you ever get bored when you drink the same type of coffee? This case happened to me some time ago. As a solution, I don't drink coffee for about a week. I did that on purpose so I miss coffee again.
Like to be able to fall in love with the same person, we have to give a little distance, and or find another way for us to love that thing again. And, sure enough. I long to drink coffee again.
This happened when I was still in the village where my brother lived for a few weeks ago. I'm looking for a coffee shop nearby with my partner. Then we decided to stop by at 85 Coffee which is located at. Banda Aceh City.
I don't want to expect much from this coffee shop. Because expectations often kill our feelings in the end. So, let's see what kind of coffee menu I ordered at 85 Coffee.
85 Coffee is not just a coffee shop. This place is quite crowded. That's because in this coffee shop visitors can do vehicle washing for motorbikes and cars.
I didn't have time to take pictures of the crowded main space of this place. The average visitor in the main space are male smoker. So I immediately left the space to find a more comfortable space.
Luckily, I found a comfortable outdoor space, even though it was a hot day. 85 Coffee has an outdoor space dominated by green space. It makes this outdoor space feel cool, with lots of plants arranged in this part.
While waiting for my coffee order to arrive, I also enjoy the atmosphere of this outdoor space. Puts me at ease with some of the elements that are here. I get some fresh air. Various ornamental plants arranged at several points make this place feel like in the backyard.
They are quite good at utilizing the area. Even though it's not too wide, the outdoor space feels spacious and not noisy. They put ornamental plants in the dividing wall area. Good multifunctional gift. Of course, this wall can be used as a nice background for visitors who want to take pictures in this place.
Equipped with the use of small pebbles on the ground, adding to the natural impression. Plus, some chair and table properties use wood material. To add a more modern relaxed impression, some chairs use iron material.
Soothing Water Element
There is one thing that caught my attention in 85 Coffee. They created an angle that uses the element of water using a pot made of natural stone. Planted with water plants, giving this area extra freshness. Deserves enough to be appreciated about this brilliant idea.
I sat near the area that has the water element. Suitable to provide peace for me in this place. Incidentally, my partner also decided to wash the car at this place. So our time can be used for several purposes at the same time today to save time.
BUTTER COFFEE
My order came. I chose Butter Coffee after a long time I didn't drink coffee. The reason I chose this type of coffee is because I have never drunk coffee mixed with butter. At that time I imagined a delicious butter that I usually spread on warm toast, also butter for stir-fry some vegetables.
At first glance, there's nothing strange about the appearance of Butter Coffee. The bubbles on the coffee surface look normal like coffee in general. Then I took a sip of this coffee.
I took a closer look at the surface of the coffee after I drank it. I was quite surprised. You can see a lot of oil particles. Hmm, at that moment I immediately thought about whether it would be good for my body or not.
Drinking Butter Coffee was enough to give me an unforgettable experience for the first time. Coffee taste is not too pronounced. Precisely very dominant and feels like butter which is uncomfortable on my tongue. Maybe this is because the quality of the butter is not good. So, in my opinion, maybe there would be a better chance if they used a better quality butter which might give a better taste than this.
Yay or Nay?
Hmm, I have to be honest this time. Initially, I felt pretty excited about Butter Coffee, which I had never tried before. I thought it would be a combination of the taste of the delicious butter with the coffee which also smells good. But unfortunately this time I have to say NO to this type of coffee variation. This type of coffee is like losing the character of the coffee itself because butter is more dominant than coffee.
Even so, I'm not disappointed with sonce with this place. With $1 or idr 15,000, it's cheap and enough to make me forgive what happened to the cup of Butter Coffee I ordered.
Have you ever tried drinking coffee mixed with butter? What do you think? Even though I had a not-so-good first experience with Butter Coffee, next time I want to find Butter Coffee elsewhere. Maybe I'll have a better experience. Who knows.

Butter coffee is NOT my thing. Same like you, I find it overpowered the coffee. I mean I don't mind the extra oil if I dip my butter toast bread into the coffee and the oil sip into the coffee, but putting a chunk of butter into the coffee simply covered it's aroma.
However, as far as I can understand why butter coffee came to mainstream coffee menu, it was due to the extra "buttery smooth" that old school butter roast coffee bean is supposed to give the extra oily texture. The newer generation uses an extra piece of butter to dump into the coffee to emulate such old school taste.
Hmm buttered toast yummy! But coffee, not really ehehe. Yeah same like you.
I just searching on the internet, hm quite popular thing. But I wonder, how about the other type of butter, maybe change the result? Dunno
i add turmeric plus a little freshly ground black pepper, and/or cardamon and/or ginger to my coffee, and sometimes blend with coconut oil healthier than butter (imo.)

Oh for ginger coffee, I like it. In my country, we have old fashioned ginger coffee. It gives warm into body too. Healthier:)
I've had butter coffee before and quite liked it. It's not something that I would drink everyday but it's good on occasion. I've also had coffee with coconut oil and coconut milk in it. That was also good. The high fat content really gives you a kick of energy for the day. I could use them as a meal replacement actually.
Coffee with coconut milk is my thing. I love it so much. But with coconut oil I never try it. :)
It's best if you blend it really well or shake it in a thermos. Otherwise the oil separates and floats on top.

I'd never heard about butter coffee before, and when I looked at the photos, the coffee looks similar to a plain broth. The name kind of implies a smooth coffee, but I can see why it looks like oil. I'm not a massive fan of bubbles because I suffer mildly from trypophobia, but I'd be curious enough to take a sip.

It has to be very good butter and whipped a little more than what they did. You can use whatever coffee you like and the strength to your liking. But it does have to be whipped well and then it is like a latte. The bubbles should have been very small and tight. That looks like it was only stirred or shaken.
Yeah, I believe when it comes to a good way to make it, the taste will be awesome. Unfortunately in an ordinary coffee shop that offers cheap prices, we can't be expected that thing :)
Definitely a yay, I love the ones made by the local coffee shop, they are full of flavour and rice taste of local roasted coffe bean added with thick milk and a cube of butter. Yummy!!

Sorry you didn’t really enjoy the butter coffee. I was a bit surprised to see the oil. I imagined a more creamy, buttery drink.
