Halloween before and after.
We dress up. How about you?

Hello again today 31 upside down (13), fellow hivers.

I want to tell you that last October 31 I dressed up with @gislandpoetic to celebrate Halloween. Although she was the one who had planned her costume long before, I decided to join at the last minute. Nevertheless we had a great time.

After a few hiccups we managed to dress up and attend a small event near the Science Museum. There was music of different genres where there was a stage, also some food stands, clothes, crafts and lots of people in costumes who joined the festivity.

Halloween has its origins in different cultures, some were traditions with dark purposes, but nowadays (even though it is not celebrated all over the world) it is a day that gives children and adults the opportunity to have fun impersonating a cute, scary, funny or inspiring character. A small distraction from the day to day and for some it is more of a commitment than a hobby, as they take it responsibly. Simply for some it is more than a simple commercial day, as it is for @gislandpoetic.

In my country we can enjoy this particularity on two dates, Carnivals (Christian celebration of three days prior to the beginning of Lent), carried out mostly in the first quarter of the year in Venezuela. And finally Halloween, being the most common and with more enthusiasts. Of which we already know that it has origins mostly Celtic and Roman, for which it was considered that at this time sacrifices, offerings and prayers were made to the gods of the harvest for prosperity and abundance, as well as it was considered that witches, druids and other entities received greater power for their tasks. The people of this time also left food on their doorsteps to satisfy the supposed spirits or dead that could return only for this day to the world of the living, these offerings satisfied them according to their beliefs and did not lash out against the living. Interesting, isn't it? Very different from what we see nowadays, only taken to entertainment and fun, something much more pleasant and healthy.

Going back to our outing, we really enjoyed dressing up and attending this little event. What do you think about these festivities and their origins? Did you dress up or would you like to do it next year?

So much for today's post, my people. I hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you in another one of my walks or witticisms!
