Romina, una batalla de vida o muerte/ Romina, a battle of life and death
Hace unos días mi madre vivió una gran situación en medio de la noche con mi gata Romina. Llevé a mi gata a la casa de mi madre ya que es una gran cazadora y aunque no le falta comida se dedica a cazar animalitos que luego deja debajo de mi cama debajo de algún mueble. Mi madre se rehúsa a usar matarratas y prefiere tener un gatito que haga ruido por casa para que los ratones no se acerquen.
Como mi gata llevaba un par de meses viviendo con mi madre me despreocupé porque siempre la veía bien, pero una noche la encontraron muy débil y tambaleante, temblando mucho como en medio de convulsiones.
A few days ago my mother experienced a great situation in the middle of the night with my cat Romina. I took my cat to my mother's house since she is a great hunter and although she does not lack food, she is dedicated to hunting animals that she later leaves under my bed under some piece of furniture. My mother refuses to use rat poison and prefers to have a kitten that makes noise around the house so that the mice do not come near.
Since my cat had been living with my mother for a couple of months, I didn't worry because I always saw her well, but one night they found her very weak and wobbly, trembling a lot as if in the middle of convulsions.
Mamá asumió que había sido envenenada y como en mi pueblito no hay nada parecido a un veterinario de emergencias hizo lo que muchos por costumbre antaña hacen en esta región; le dio una mezcla de aceite y leche.
Ahora sabemos que esta mezcla de aceite y leche no trae beneficios en sí y que puede más bien generar más daños; pero era esta la única solución que mi madre vio a su alcance en el momento tan horrible que estaba pasando. Pero lo único bueno que resultó de todo esto fue que el aceite y leche indujeron el vomito en mi gatita Romina.
Mom assumed that she had been poisoned and since in my town there is nothing similar to an emergency vet, she did what many in this region used to do out of habit; he gave him a mixture of oil and milk.
Now we know that this mixture of oil and milk does not bring benefits in itself and that it can cause more harm; but this was the only solution that my mother saw within her reach at such a horrible moment that she was going through. But the only good thing that came out of all this was that the oil and milk induced vomiting in my kitten Romina.
Después de que Romina vomitó empezó a estabilizarse y fue así que en la tarde llegué a cada de mi mamá y me llevé a Romina a casa para terminar de atenderla dándole hidratación hasta que quiso aceptar un caldo de pollo.
Ahora Romina está mucho mejor, tiene un apetito impresionante nuevamente pues es muy golosa y yo estoy muy contenta porque es una gatita muy cariñosa que siempre me recibe en la puerta de la casa cada vez que llego.
After Romina vomited, she began to stabilize and that's how I went to my mother's house in the afternoon and took Romina home to finish caring for her, giving her hydration until she wanted to accept a chicken broth.
Now Romina is much better, she has an impressive appetite again because she has a sweet tooth and I am very happy because she is a very affectionate kitten who always welcomes me at the door of the house every time I arrive.
Me gustaría mucho que las personas dejaran de usar mata ratas pues ya he perdido varias mascotas de esta manera, después de haber comido un ratón envenenado o por la comida que una de las vecinas decía que ponía para matar a los gatos que llegaban a su casa.
Es muy triste ver como hay personas que deciden usar métodos tan nocivos para controlar sus plagas de ratones o cucarachas cuando sabemos que hay animalitos que si son domésticos que llevados de su instinto y sin malas intenciones comen lo que los lleva a la muerte.
I would really like people to stop using rat killers because I have already lost several pets in this way, after having eaten a poisoned mouse or because of the food that one of the neighbors said she put to kill the cats that came to her house .
It is very sad to see how there are people who decide to use such harmful methods to control their infestations of mice or cockroaches when we know that there are domestic animals that, carried away by their instinct and without bad intentions, eat what leads them to death.

Debió de haberse sentido horrible pasar por eso con tu gatita, muchas veces sucede que las personas echan esos venenos sin saber que pueden afectar a otros animalitos indefensos, por eso mismo siempre trato de estar pendiente de mis mascotas al respecto. Que bueno que ya Romina se encuentra mucho mejor, me dio mucha tristeza saber que estuvo en ese estado, al menos ya se encuentra estable, espero que pronto este 100% bien. Hola! Me alegra que su mascota se encuentre mucho mejor, a mi siempre me da miedo pensar que mi perrito pueda ser envenenado...
No creo que las trampas para ratones sean malas, al final es para llevar a mejor vida a los invitados no deseados, pero creo que deben ser removidas rapidamente si hay animales domésticos cerca, porque como dice, debido a su instinto sin querer terminan comiendo algo malo para su salud :(

Que mala situación, pobre gatita, que bueno que ya esté mejor. Tampoco me gustan esos venenos que aparte de ser tortura se pueden llevar a otros en el camino. Espero que siga estando muy bien y ya no pasen de nuevo por esa experiencia tan horrible.
Que bueno que la pequeña romina se pudo restablecer de este susto. Se merecía otra oportunidad por lo tierna que es.😌
