Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una historia que me llena de orgullo y emoción... Se trata de la historia de nuestro amigo Ángel.
Today I want to share with you a story that fills me with pride and emotion.... It is the story of our friend Angel.
Ángel es un adolescente de 17 años de edad en situación prácticamente de calle que mi esposo conoce desde hace más o menos unos 5 años.
Angel is a 17 year old teenager who is practically homeless and my husband has known him for about 5 years.
José Gregorio (mi esposo) conoció a Ángel cuando este era solo un niño que cuidaba carros en un centro comercial que mi esposo frecuentaba, ya que queda cerca de donde él vivía. Lo que llamó la atención de mi esposo hacia Ángel en aquel entonces fue ver como ese pequeño niño cuidaba carros, pero al mismo tiempo se llevaba todos los días su cuaderno para hacer tareas y con el dinero que a veces recogía de cuidar carros, compraba bolsitas de pan para revenderlas y poder ganar un poquito más de dinero.
José Gregorio (my husband) met Ángel when he was just a little boy who was taking care of cars in a shopping mall that my husband frequented, since it was close to where he lived. What called my husband's attention to Angel at that time was to see how that little boy was taking care of cars, but at the same time he took his notebook every day to do his homework and with the money he sometimes collected from taking care of cars, he bought little bags of bread to resell them and earn a little more money.
Mi esposo en ese entonces se acercó a este niño y varias veces lo llegó a ayudar con sus tareas, le daba dinero para apoyarlo y empezó a construir una buena relación con este niño. Pasó el tiempo y Ángel estuvo unos meses ausente, no lo vimos más. Mi esposo abrió su propio negocio en este mismo centro comercial y un día lo volvimos a ver ya hecho todo un hombrecito.
My husband at that time got close to this child and several times he came to help him with his homework, gave him money to support him and began to build a good relationship with this child. Time passed and Angel was absent for a few months, we never saw him again. My husband opened his own business in this same mall and one day we saw him again, all grown up.
Ángel ya no era el mismo niñito de hace unos años y él recordaba con mucho aprecio a José Gregorio, así que se acercó a saludarnos y nos contó que lamentablemente no había podido seguir estudiando, pues, su abuelito que era quien lo ayudaba a mantener los gastos de sus estudios había fallecido y él había tenido que salir a buscar trabajo para ayudar a su mamá en casa, de hecho estaba por esos lados buscando quien le ofrecía algún trabajo.
Angel was no longer the same little boy of a few years ago and he remembered José Gregorio with much appreciation, so he came to greet us and told us that unfortunately he had not been able to continue studying, because his grandfather who was who helped him to maintain the expenses of his studies had died and he had had to go out to look for work to help his mother at home, in fact he was in those parts looking for someone to offer him a job.
Mi esposo, que está preparando personal para un equipo de desmalezamiento, le preguntó si estaba interesado en aprender a usar las máquinas de cortar y si mostraba buenas aptitudes se podía quedar con su equipo trabajando, a lo que Ángel muy emocionado le digo que sí, que él estaba dispuesto a aprender cualquier cosa.
My husband, who is preparing personnel for a weeding crew, asked him if he was interested in learning how to use the mowers and if he showed good skills he could stay with his crew working, to which Angel very excitedly said yes, he was willing to learn anything.
Al día siguiente Ángel apareció a las 7 am como se le indicó con un gran entusiasmo en aprender a hacer algo nuevo que lo ayudara a crear mejores recursos para él y su mamá, y a nosotros esto nos llena de muchísimo orgullo, pues es un niño que fácilmente por la necesidad pudiera caer en cosas malas o buscar el camino "fácil" de la delincuencia, pero él ha decidido ser diferente y hacerlo bien, ha decidido ser honesto y ganarse por su propio voluntad y esfuerzo sus méritos y nosotros le damos gracias a Dios de ponernos en su camino para poder ayudarlo a estar mejor ❤️.
The next day Angel showed up at 7 am as instructed with great enthusiasm to learn to do something new that would help him to create better resources for him and his mother, and this fills us with great pride, because he is a child that easily by necessity could fall into bad things or seek the "easy" path of crime, but he has decided to be different and do well, he has decided to be honest and earn by his own will and effort his merits and we thank God for putting us in his way to help him be better ❤️.
Apenas está iniciando el proceso de aprendizaje con él, pero ya lleva mucho a su favor que es la responsabilidad y la puntualidad, yo estoy segura de que Ángel y mi esposo lograrán cosas muy buenas en beneficio de ambos.
He is just beginning the learning process with him, but he already has a lot going for him, which is responsibility and punctuality, and I am sure that Angel and my husband will achieve very good things for the benefit of both of them.
