Terminando algunos detalles y estucando el cuarto - "Seguimos buscando soluciones" (Esp-Eng)

Como ya es costumbre para mí en estos últimos meses, ayer fue otro de esos domingos dedicados a continuar con las labores en mi casa. Desde la semana pasada tenía pendiente terminar algunos detalles y comenzar otros trabajos, así que hoy les comparto el resultado de esas tareas: terminar de revocar una parte del cuarto y perfeccionar el borde de la puerta de mi habitación. Además, inicié el proceso de estucar las paredes para posteriormente poder pintarlas.

Finalmente he terminado de revocar todas las paredes del cuarto y le di paso al estuco. En cuanto al estucado, tengo algo de conocimiento porque ya había realizado este tipo de trabajo en Venezuela, en la casa de mi mamá. Realmente no es tan difícil, pero sí tiene su técnica para que todo quede bien. Hay que tomar en cuenta que cuando se aplica correctamente, el estuco le da un acabado muy bonito a las paredes, las hace lucir más elegantes y corrige cualquier pequeño defecto como huequitos o imperfecciones, dejándolas totalmente lisas, lo cual es ideal al momento de aplicar la pintura.

As usual for me in recent months, yesterday was another of those Sundays dedicated to continue with the work in my house. Since last week I had pending to finish some details and start other works, so today I share with you the result of those tasks: finish plastering a part of the room and perfect the edge of the door of my bedroom. Also, I started the process of stuccoing the walls so I can paint them later.

I have finally finished plastering all the walls of the room and gave way to the stucco. As for the stucco, I have some knowledge because I had already done this type of work in Venezuela, in my mother's house. It is really not that difficult, but it does have its technique to make everything look good. You have to take into account that when applied correctly, stucco gives a very nice finish to the walls, makes them look more elegant and corrects any small defects such as holes or imperfections, leaving them completely smooth, which is ideal when applying the paint.

Luego fui a la ferretería a comprar el estuco (por cierto, en Venezuela se le conoce como “pasta profesional” o por lo menos así la conocía yo). Para la aplicación de este producto se necesita, al menos, una llana metálica y una espátula. Así es como lo hago yo, ya que he visto que otros utilizan dos llanas metálicas, pero personalmente me resulta más cómodo mi método. Compré 20 kilos de estuco, lo que me costó 24.000 pesos colombianos, que vendrían siendo al cambio unos 10 dólares. En realidad, considero que es un precio bastante accesible. Esta cantidad me alcanzó para aplicar la primera mano en dos paredes y media, lo que equivale aproximadamente a unos 20 metros cuadrados.

Then I went to the hardware store to buy the stucco (by the way, in Venezuela it is known as “pasta profesional” or at least that's how I knew it). For the application of this product you need, at least, a metal trowel and a spatula. This is how I do it, since I have seen that others use two metal trowels, but personally I find my method more comfortable. I bought 20 kilos of stucco, which cost me 24,000 Colombian pesos, which at the exchange rate would be about 10 dollars. Actually, I consider this to be a very affordable price. This amount was enough to apply the first coat on two and a half walls, which is approximately 20 square meters.

En La parte de los bordes de la ventana todavía me falta hacer un pequeño arreglo, entonce como se que cuando lo haga van a sufrir un poco de daño los bordes preferir no estucar tan cerca para no hacer doble trabajo después.

In the part of the edges of the window I still have to do a small repair to the window, so as I know that when I do it the edges will suffer a little damage, I prefer not to stucco so close to not do double work later.

Esta es la una de las paredes a las que solo le coloque estuco a la mitad que fue hasta donde me alcanzo el producto. Aún me falta aplicar la primera mano en una pared y media más, y luego pasarle la segunda mano a todas las paredes. Una vez termine de estucar, debo esperar que todo esté bien seco para poder lijar finamente. Este proceso de lijado le da un acabado perfecto, pero se debe hacer de forma muy suave para no generar ralladuras en la superficie; simplemente sirve para corregir cualquier mínimo detalle y alisar completamente la pared.

Quiero terminar este trabajo pronto porque tengo varios planes: colocar la puerta de madera del cuarto, la puerta del baño que está dentro de la habitación, instalar el aire acondicionado, colocar la base del televisor en la pared, y luego instalar el cielo raso, para que el cuarto quede bien elegante y acogedor.

This is one of the walls that I only applied stucco to half of the walls, which was as far as I could reach with the product. I still have to apply the first coat on one and a half more walls, and then apply the second coat to all the walls. Once I finish stuccoing, I have to wait until everything is dry before I can sand finely. This sanding process gives a perfect finish, but it must be done very smoothly so as not to scratch the surface; it simply serves to correct any minor details and completely smooth the wall.

I want to finish this job soon because I have several plans: place the wooden door of the room, the bathroom door that is inside the room, install the air conditioner, place the TV base on the wall, and then install the ceiling, so that the room looks very elegant and cozy.
