Привіт, друзі.
Для мене вже стало характерним писати про свої роздуми. Люблю це робити, адже потреба висловити думки, "розставити все по поличках" є дуже важливою для мене.

Сьогодні нам дали завдання з одного предмету, а саме: написати свої роздуми про те як пов'язана культура та права людини. Це дійсно цікаве питання, тому в цьому дописі я хочу поділитися своїми думками що до цієї теми.

It has already become characteristic for me to write about my thoughts. I like to do it, because the need to express my thoughts, to "arrange everything on the shelves" is very important to me.
Today we were given a task on one subject, namely: to write our reflections on how culture and human rights are related. This is a really interesting question, so in this post I want to share my thoughts on the subject.

Говорячи про сучасну культуру та її вплив на формування загально-суспільних ідей, варто зазначити, що розмова буде йти про популярну культуру. Саме вона є домінуючою та найбільше розкриває умонастрої та потреби суспільства у конкретний період часу.
Ми – екранне суспільство, а тому ключовою формою сучасної культури є серіали та фільми. Кіно є не лише платом для дискусій, а й формою мистецтва, що пропонує зразки для поведінки. Останні декілька років часто можна було почути критику в бік Netflix та престижних кіноакадемій по типу «Оскара» за те, що у їх кіно з’являється все більше і більше «неординарних» героїв. Різні раси, сексуальні орієнтації, віросповідання та гендери – ось ключова проблематика сучасності. На жаль, люди, що відрізняються від загалу в більшості випадків страждають через дискримінацію. У багатьох країнах світу немає легалізації на ЛГБТ-шлюби, що вже є порушенням прав людини; нетерпимість по відношенню до інших рас, яка чомусь досі існує навіть у розвинутих країнах (очевидним прикладом є акція Black lives matter у США). Навіть уявити складно скільки людських прав порушують країни через банальне невігластво та стереотипні традиції. Сучасна культура прагне своєю «м’якою силою» зруйнувати застійні уявлення і показати суспільству, що існує не «єдиновірний варіант». За допомогою сучасних технологій інформацію можна поширювати мобільно і на великі відстані, саме тому ми так швидко звикаємо до того, що існують інші раси, орієнтації, віросповідання, гендери тощо.

Speaking about modern culture and its influence on the formation of general societal ideas, it is worth noting that the conversation will be about popular culture. It is she who is dominant and most reveals the mindset and needs of society in a specific period of time.
We are a screen society, and therefore the key form of modern culture are series and films. Cinema is not only a platform for discussion, but also an art form that offers models for behavior. In the last few years, you could often hear criticism towards Netflix and prestigious film academies like "Oscar" for the fact that more and more "extraordinary" heroes appear in their films. Different races, sexual orientations, religions and genders are the key issues of our time. Unfortunately, people who are different from the general population suffer because of discrimination in most cases. In many countries of the world, there is no legalization of LGBT marriages, which is already a violation of human rights; intolerance towards other races, which for some reason still exists even in developed countries (an obvious example is the action Black lives matter in the USA). It is difficult to even imagine how many human rights countries violate due to banal ignorance and stereotypical traditions. Modern culture strives with its "soft power" to destroy stagnant ideas and show society that there is no "one-size-fits-all option". With the help of modern technologies, information can be spread mobile and over long distances, which is why we so quickly get used to the fact that there are other races, orientations, religions, genders, etc.

Не можна не відмітити таке чудове явище як «культура скасування». Це, по-суті, бойкотування чи то відомої особистості, чи то якоїсь компанії за неприйнятну поведінку, що суперечить гуманним цінностям. Ну наприклад, мер міста домагався до дівчини, яка в свою чергу, публікує та розповсюджує інформацію по всіх соціальних мережах. Тоді соціум підхоплює це, створюється резонанс навколо теми і злочинця карають. Для суспільства це демонстрація алгоритму дій у таких випадках і що не менш важливо – сили.

It is impossible not to note such a wonderful phenomenon as "cancellation culture". This is, in essence, boycotting either a famous person or a company for unacceptable behavior that contradicts humane values. Well, for example, the mayor of the city pursued a girl who, in turn, publishes and distributes information on all social networks. Then society picks up on it, a resonance is created around the topic and the criminal is punished. For society, this is a demonstration of the algorithm of actions in such cases and, no less importantly, strength.

Не менш важливим фактором, який допомагає просувати людські права є позиція культурних інституцій та творців. Художники, поети, письменники, музиканти, актори – це інтелектуальні лідери, до яких прислуховується суспільство, вони мають величезну силу впливу. Нерідко в їх обличчі ми бачимо правозахисників, що боряться проти дискримінації. Як, приклад, Леді Гага, що відстоювала скасування закону США про заборону служити в армії представникам ЛГБТ-спільноти.

Такого поняття як “людські права” не існувало б без культури. Вони є продуктом її розвитку, а тому чим більший у нас рівень культури, відповідно менше невігластва та стереотипів у суспільстві. А саме ці речі й є рушійною силою, що спричиняє порушення прав людей.

Оць до таких думок я прийшла сьогодні. Що думаєте на цей рахунок?

An equally important factor that helps promote human rights is the position of cultural institutions and creators. Artists, poets, writers, musicians, actors are intellectual leaders who are listened to by society, they have enormous power of influence. Often in their faces we see human rights defenders fighting against discrimination. Like, for example, Lady Gaga, who advocated the repeal of the US law banning members of the LGBT community from serving in the army.
Such a concept as "human rights" would not exist without culture. They are a product of its development, and therefore the higher our level of culture, the less ignorance and stereotypes there are in society. And it is precisely these things that are the driving force that causes the violation of people's rights.
