Smile - Contest#74

Hi everyone! This is my first time to join a Ladies of Hive contest! The contest is titled Contest #74. I am excited to share with you my stories. 😊 I invite @hiddenblade here as well :)


I chose the question "When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone?" I got this big smile and a wonderful memory of it because I just did it very recently like last month, February 12. And as you all know, it was love month so even a pre Valentines date was a must. (We chose to celebrate Valentines Day ahead because he had an out-of-town trip on the 13th till on the 14th in the evening.)

So we booked a restaurant and ate there and spent the rest of the night laughing and eating together.

It is an intentional thing to do to give a gift to someone you love on Valentines Day. Be it a tangible or intangible thing. But considering my persona, I am the type who wants to give material stuff as gift as much as I could. But of course, I won't force myself to buy one if I don't have enough finances for it.


Why a tangible thing?


Simple.


I want something that someone could carry and remember me by whenever they have it or look at it. I want them to remember that moment when they receive the gift itself. I always do it out of the abundance and grateful of my heart whenever I give something. But an intangible gift is as of great value as the tangible one. I just prefer the tangible one.

Especially, to the man I love.


At that month, even since January, I was practically broke. The last thing I spent my money on was a gift was for his birthday last January 27. Other than that, I was really on a tight budget.


I was panicking.


"Oh no, what should I do? What should I give? Its Valentines. I wanna give him something but I don't have enough budget to buy him another gift. If I do, like use this credit card, I'll go even more broke after our date. Damn this."


And then, an idea came by.


"What if I write him a letter?"


And so I did.


I went through an old journal of mine, and tore off some of its pages and used them for my letter. I didn't had enough time and money to buy a decent stationary paper.

And so I started to write my letter. In the letter I told him how grateful I am for having him and how much I love him with all my heart that at anytime, I am ready to love him even more, even longer. (well, other than that, most of the parts I wrote were basically jokes. It was to make him and me laugh and lessen the cheesy sweety atmosphere of the letter. Cause he be too blessed to have a sweet mf partner like me. Like dahell. HAHAHA)


Let me show you the pictures :)

This is the cover of the box I used for the letter. It is an old jewelry box given to me by my cousin. The picture I posted in front of it is my partner's goofy face when he tried to put on a peeling mask. LOL. (hurts like hell) I chose this picture to make him laugh :) It was also the goofiest pic I had of him. 🤣

But of course, I always give a little twist on my gifts.

Before he could read my letter, I put several dares above it. Just so you know...to make him laugh and to make me feel entertained. 🤣😈 On this picture, when you open the box, the first dare would be:

"KISS ME FIRST BEFORE OPENING."

Which meant, kiss me first before reading or opening the letter.

Second is:

"THEN HUG ME."

He should be doing these dares on me before even reading the letter. (It was also my way of forcing him to act cutesy on me. Since he raaaarely does it)

Third is: (and this is quite rated18)

"THEN LET ME TOUCH YOUR 🍆"

Yes. Stuff like this are very normal to us. 🤣 And mind you, WE'VE DONE THAT IN PUBLIC HAHAHA But I didn't actually and literally touched his dingdong, I just lightly pat it HAHAHA 🤣

"JUST JOKING."

Fifth is:

"NOW KISS ME AND HUG ME SIMULTANEOUSLY. (HURRY. DONT COMPLAIN)"

He laughed when he saw this cause he said that I really do know his attitude. 🤣 Cause again, he ain't sweet at times. ugh. -_-

Last one is:

"OKAY. THANKS. YOU MAY OPEN IT NOW."

I omitted translating the other words because those are Bisayan Slangs of which are very hard to explain or translate it to english. 🤣

And after that, he then opened the letters.

I didn't have any pictures on the letters, and I purposely did that because it was something I wanted to remain as a memory that is not needed any triggering point such as a picture saved on a phone gallery. Cause why write a letter and go through the trouble of making it when you can just send it as a picture? Right? Sometimes, moments like this, I don't rely much on technology.

The letter was composed of 5 pages carefully folded to fit inside the small jewelry box.




And there, my feelings had spoken.




I told him that I was sorry for not giving him something decent of a gift on Valentines.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't give you anything. If its okay with you, please appreciate and accept this little gift of mine. It is cheap and small, but I made with all my heart. It was also the only thing I could afford. I'm sorry, love."


"Its okay. I love it. It is very heartfelt. Thank you."

And with that, I have also received the best irreplaceable Valentines gift ever....
