El comienzo de la semana pasada fue bastante ajetreado, tuve que tomar la mañana para mandar al “médico” mi carro. Todo comenzó cuando el viernes estábamos saliendo para casa de una amiga, habíamos cuadrado para dormir ese día allá y regresar el sábado.
Antes de salir pasamos por la estación de servicio echando gasolina y revisando los niveles de todos los fluidos. Después fuimos a llenar los cauchos y ahí fue que percibimos el problema... Al momento de apagar el carro mi hermano notó que el switch de prender el carro no estaba normal, yo le dije que se quedara tranquilo, que no debía ser nada. Él calibró los cauchos y cuando fue a prender el carro para comenzar nuestro viaje, para nuestra sorpresa no prendió.
The beginning of last week was quite hectic, I had to take the morning to send my car to the "doctor". It all started when on Friday we were leaving for a friend's house, we had arranged to sleep there that day and return on Saturday.
Before leaving we went to the gas station to fill up with gas and check the levels of all the fluids. Then we went to fill up the tires and that's when we noticed the problem.... At the moment of turning off the car my brother noticed that the ignition switch was not normal, I told him to stay calm, that it should be nothing. He calibrated the tires and when he went to start the car to begin our trip, to our surprise it did not start.
Yo me estresé de una vez, fue automático, me comenzó un dolor de cabeza bastante fuerte. Como estábamos en frente del lugar donde se llenan los cauchos, habían otras personas cerca y amablemente se ofrecieron a empujarnos el carro para que prendiera.
El carro prendió sin problemas porque es sincrónico y nosotros emprendimos nuestro viaje de todas maneras. Visitamos a nuestros amigos y en realidad nos tuvimos que quedar hasta el domingo porque llovió muy fuerte y las carreteras que son de tierra estaban horribles para transitar.
I got stressed out all at once, it was automatic, I got a pretty bad headache. As we were in front of the place where the tires are filled there were other people nearby and they kindly offered to push the car to start it.
The car started without problems because it is synchronous and we started our trip anyway. We visited our friends and actually we had to stay until Sunday because it rained very hard and the dirt roads were horrible to drive on.
El carro estaba en esa situación de prender empujado y como para el miércoles estaba programado el viaje de ellos, no podría quedarme con el carro de esa manera. Por lo que el lunes lo llevé a una autoeléctrica. Nos atendió el dueño, fue muy amable con nosotros e inmediatamente comenzaron a desarmar el volante.
The car was in that situation of being pushed and since their trip was scheduled for Wednesday, I could not keep the car that way. So on Monday I took it to an autoelectric company. We were attended by the owner, he was very kind with us and immediately began to disassemble the steering wheel.
Nosotros salimos a investigar unas cosas y dejamos el carro en proceso. Salimos en la moto de mi hermano, que me acompañó hasta allá. Cuando regresamos de nuestra diligencia, el señor ya tenía el diagnóstico, se había partido la pieza más interna del cilindro, la que tiene la forma de la llave. Él nos dio la noticia bien triste porque tenía que llamar a alguien especialista en llaves para poder solucionarlo. Yo no tomé tan mal la noticia porque me imaginé que cambiar el cilindro completo tendría un costo mayor.
We went out to investigate some things and left the car in process. We went out on my brother's motorcycle, who accompanied me there. When we returned from our errand the man already had the diagnosis, the innermost part of the cylinder, the one that has the shape of the key, had broken. He gave us the sad news because he had to call someone specialized in keys to fix it. I didn't take the news too badly because I imagined that changing the whole cylinder would have a higher cost.
Al final el señor se sintió presionado por nosotros haber regresado y él sin haber resuelto aún el problema, lo que hizo hacerlo insistir en arreglar la pieza sin necesidad del especialista en llaves. Nos explicó que el carro quedaría con dos llaves, una para prenderlo y la vieja para las puertas. Para mí no representaba ningún problema y aprobé que terminara su trabajo de esa forma.
Nosotros le informamos al señor que saldríamos de nuevo a continuar con nuestras diligencias para aprovechar el tiempo en la ciudad y él hasta nos ofreció prestar su carro. Me pareció una actitud muy linda del señor, aunque no la aceptamos porque andábamos de moto.
In the end the gentleman felt pressured by us having returned and him not having solved the problem yet, which made him insist on fixing the part without the need of the key specialist. He explained that the car would be left with two keys, one for the ignition and the old one for the doors. This was no problem for me and I approved of him finishing his work that way.
We informed the gentleman that we would go out again to continue with our errands to take advantage of the time in the city and he even offered to lend us his car. I thought it was a very nice attitude of the gentleman, although we did not accept it because we were on a motorcycle.
Cuándo regresamos ya el carro estaba listo, pagué y le pedí a mi hermano que me sacara el carro del estacionamiento. Cuando José María fue a prender el carro, nos dimos cuenta que aunque el motor hacía ruido para prender, el carro se apagaba.
El señor que nos atendió vio la situación y asombrado nos pidió la llave vieja del carro. Juntó las dos llaves y el carro prendió tranquilo. El problema es que la llave original del carro tiene un chip de seguridad y si el carro es prendido y la llave que se usó no tiene el chip él se apaga automáticamente.
Él nos unió las dos llaves con teipe negro y me dijo que tendría que ir con el cerrajero para que transfiriera el chip a la llave nueva.
Así arreglamos el carro y quedó la llave por arreglar. Fue una mañana súper ajetreada pero logramos hacer todo lo que necesitábamos. Ahora mi carro prende normalmente y tengo un injerto de llaves. Gracias por leerme y los dejo hasta otro post!
When we returned the car was ready, I paid and asked my brother to take the car out of the parking lot. When José María went to start the car, we noticed that even though the engine was making noise to start, the car turned off.
The man who attended to us saw the situation and, astonished, asked us for the old car key. He put the two keys together and the car started up quietly. The problem is that the original key of the car has a security chip and if the car is turned on and the key that was used does not have the chip it turns off automatically.
He put the two keys together with black teipe and told me that I would have to go to the locksmith to transfer the chip to the new key.
So we fixed the car and the key was left to be fixed. It was a super busy morning but we managed to do everything we needed to do. Now my car starts normally and I have a key graft. Thanks for reading and I'll leave you until another post!
