[ES-EN] Mi primera fiesta Junina! // My first Junina party!

Espero que este fin de semana sea tan bueno como el mío parece que va a ser. Hoy estuve arreglando unas cosas de mi casa para mejorar la energía que circula en ella, esto fue en la parte de la mañana. En la tarde ya tenía dos compromisos. El primero, una fiesta Junina en el gimnasio donde entreno. El segundo una cena en casa de la profesora de baile.
Ahora les explico la temática de la fiesta Junina y después les cuento como me fue en la cena, que para el momento de escribir este post aún no se dio. La fiesta Junina es una tradición de todo Brasil que se celebra en Junio. Su origen es europeo y la finalidad en aquel tiempo era celebrar las cosechas y se efectuaban cerca del solsticio de verano. Como era una fiesta pagana, la iglesia incluyó por la cercanía del día la celebración para San Juan, en portugués João y de ahí deriva el nombre de las fiestas, "Festa Joanina".
I hope this weekend is as good as mine looks like it is going to be. Today I was fixing some things in my house to improve the energy that circulates in it, this was in the morning part. In the afternoon I already had two commitments. The first one, a Junina party at the gym where I train. The second was a dinner at the dance teacher's house.
Now I'll explain the theme of the Junina party and then I'll tell you how the dinner went, which at the time of writing this post had not yet taken place. The Junina party is a tradition all over Brazil that is celebrated in June. Its origin is European and the purpose at that time was to celebrate the harvests and it was held near the summer solstice. As it was a pagan holiday, the church included the celebration for St. John, in Portuguese João, because of the proximity of the day and that is where the name of the festivities comes from, "Festa Joanina".
Cuando los colonizadores trajeron esa fiesta aquí a Brasil fue bien recibida y hasta la actualidad es celebrada. Claro, a lo largo del tiempo fueron agregando cosas propias de cada región. Aquí en el Sur de Brasil le agregaron hacer una hoguera para calentar el ambiente porque para esas fechas hay bastante frío. Además se suelen acompañar con bastante comida tradicional.
Aunque tengo 4 años en Brasil nunca había tenido la oportunidad de venir a una de estas celebraciones. En el transcurso de la semana ya me habían avisado que harían un arraiá en el gimnasio, ese es otro nombre que le dan a la fiesta. De una vez me emocioné y dije tengo que ir. Ayer confirmaron la invitación para hoy y le avisé a mi hija que iríamos a una "festa Junina" y a ella le gustó bastante la idea, esto porque ella ya ha ido a otras fiestas con esa temática.

Here in the South of Brazil they added a bonfire to warm up the atmosphere because it is quite cold at that time of the year. In addition, they are usually accompanied with a lot of traditional food.
Although I have been in Brazil for 4 years I had never had the opportunity to come to one of these celebrations. During the course of the week they had already told me that they would make an arraiá in the gym, that's another name they give to the party. All at once I got excited and said I have to go. Yesterday they confirmed the invitation for today and I told my daughter that we were going to a "festa Junina" and she liked the idea a lot, because she has already been to other parties with that theme.
Algo que no les había comentado es que por tradición las personas se disfrazan de "caipiras", que significa campesinos. Abundan las camisas y faldas de cuadros, maquillajes con pecas, pantalones rasgados y sombreros de paja. El lugar de la fiesta es decorado con ese mismo tema, el campo.
Something I had not mentioned before is that by tradition people dress up as "caipiras", which means peasants. Checkered shirts and skirts, freckled make-up, ripped pants and straw hats abound. The party place is decorated with the same theme, the countryside.
En la invitación que hicieron en el Instagram del gimnasio hacían alusión al traje, que deberíamos ir vestidos acordes y podríamos concursar por premios. Hace unos meses me había comprado una falda para acompañar a Amanda a otra fiesta Junina.
Así que no dudé y me la estrené en esta primera fiesta, la acompañé con una camisa social blanca que me amaré en la cintura y unas botas altas. A Amanda también le coloqué una falda de cuadros y unas botas lindas.
In the invitation they made on the gym's Instagram they alluded to the outfit, that we should dress accordingly and we could compete for prizes. A few months ago I had bought a skirt to accompany Amanda to another Junina party.
So I didn't hesitate and wore it to this first party, I paired it with a white social shirt that I'll tie at the waist and some high boots. I also paired Amanda with a plaid skirt and cute boots.
La fiesta fue muy linda, la decoración espectacular y había muchos dulces típicos para comer. Yo sólo comí cricri, que es maní con azúcar y unas cotufas.
Mi hija además del cricri y las cotufas también comió una conserva que no se de que era, pero tenía forma de corazón. También tomé una bebida típica que se llama quentão, hecha con vino, canela y clavo. Pasamos un tiempo bien diferente y que quiebra nuestra rutina dándonos un respiro del día a día.
The party was very nice, the decoration was spectacular and there were many typical sweets to eat. I only ate cricri, which is peanuts with sugar and some cotufas.
My daughter, besides the cricri and the cotufas, also ate a canned food that I don't know what it was, but it was in the shape of a heart. I also had a typical drink called quentão, made with wine, cinnamon and cloves. We spent a very different time and that breaks our routine giving us a break from the day to day.
