Daily Poem 12: Too Much Makeup - No Spend 2022. Please Lend Me Your Willpower.

I buy a lot of makeup,
All manner of things beauty.
Perhaps I enjoy the textures,
Perhaps I just wanna be pretty?

For whatever reason,
I have a large makeup hoard.
The only issue is,
It sits still and rather bored.

I enjoy lipsticks and glosses,
I enjoy mascaras and false lashes.
However, I rarely seem
To use my beauty stashes.

I have lipsticks to color the wall,
Reds and berries and mauves and more.
My eyeshadows shame the rainbow,
Raining glitz powders onto the floor.

Palettes come and palettes go,
Except they never seem to depart.
I have way too much makeup,
I can probably use it for art!

I enjoy acquiring lippies,
I welcome shadows in for a fling.
However I do have to remember,
Expiration dates are a thing.

I even have cleansers,
Moisturizes and toners galore.
Foundations and sprays and powders,
Enough to beautify me evermore.

They are going bad just sitting
Inside little boxes and crates.
I wish I had the chance to use them,
Perhaps for a date?

For 2022, I have resolved to No Spend.
But my heart is weak and cowers,
So please can you lend me
Some of your willpower?

The photo is of 3 items I want to use up this year. These are new from my stash, I will also be using currently used items. Hopefully, I can use up at least 1 item a month. That’s my goal. Not too ambitious, but it would be satisfying.

This verse didn’t fit into the poem - wouldn’t work either before or after last verse above. I wanted to end with the question.

I’d love to use up my stash,
Just one item per month’s all I ask.
I hope that my skin and will,
Are strong enough for this task.
