Rounded off my Year with Little Donation

It was difficult to let go
I Greet Everyone Here ooo and Happy New Year in Advance
I'm a member of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) and a Local chapter chairman. Motto: …Nurturing For National Development. Our priority is the welfare of our members.

In one of our meetings a resolution was made by the board officers, “ that the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira cash (#250,000.00) be donated to one of our members when going for a condolence visit on October 2nd 2022. And individual donations should follow the same day as usual.”

At the moment, the association added no money in the bank account, suggestions and ideas popped up and concluded that I, the chairman, should lend the association two hundred and fifty thousand naira and get it later.

I didn't debunk the decision of the board members, everyone was happy and cheered me up.
Immediately after getting home after the board meeting, I completely lost interest in giving the said amount of money, though I had much more than the amount needed by the association for the condolence visit on October 2nd, 2023.

I started comparing and contrasting issues why I shouldn't give out the money and I even brought the money before me contemplating over what to tell the members delegated for the visit when they will come for the money and immediately while I was still there visitor bell rang, I checked behold it was the delegate members coming for the money and my personal donation.

I rushed and hid the money in the bedroom, came and pretended to be ill to tell them that because of my ill health I couldn't go out to get the money for people. Am sorry for the inconveniences.
I didn't have any need to use the money for, but at the same time I find it so difficult to donate the money but their words of persuasion poked my heart, and it got me convinced to release the money to them, yet, I knocked off the feelings and idea by my good instinct with:

"Though you don't have what to use the money for right now, that doesn't mean that you should make yourself a philanthropist. Are they not all proprietors? Do you have more than them? … Oh! Do they see you as a fool? If they think you don't have what to use your money for, what about children in school, family needs and hmm…?"
My instinct went directly to the main reason why I shouldn't give out the money and what I should use it for.

MY PERSONAL DONATION:

I and all my family members and any who live with me stopped eating Maggi of any brand, tin or sachet tomatoes and drinking any soft drinks in my house as was advised by some professional physicians to avoid experiencing some certain illnesses in later life.

Before then, some packets of Royco, sachets of King oil, De Rica sachets of tomato and some cartons of drinks were in my kitchen store for almost a year untouched and not given out. I was saying if I give out, my kitchen store will be empty, people will think that I have enough and they will be coming for it and other things. To avoid someone disturbing me I couldn't let go.

CONDOLENCE VISIT:

Days came and went. I couldn't let go of the two hundred and fifty thousand and a bag of rice for my personal donation I wanted to give initially till the procrastination of the condolence visit couldn't be tolerated again. The delegates came ready for the condolence visit, they said, “ the chair, please we are here for the money and your personal donation(s) to fulfill our customs.”

…sluggishly, I went in and came out with the money and gave it out.
They ask again, “ the chair, your personal donation.” I was so unpleasant and without motion went in again and came out with some sachets of Kings oil, De Rica sachet tomatoes, some packets of Royco and some soft drinks more than the initial quantity I wanted to give out as a result of annoyance.

It wasn't easy but at last I gave it out.

I will be excited after reading your comments.

Thanks, thanks and thanks.
