The concept of belief is, perhaps, the most powerful and vulnerable force within our mental architecture. We have the inalienable right to embrace whatever certainties we choose; however, as we inhabit a world dominated by subjectivity, objectivity becomes a mirage and the faith of others becomes fertile ground for manipulation.
The art of forgetting that we were once human.
We are heading towards a scenario in which survival demands that we conform. To fit into today’s school and workplace dynamics, human beings are forced to shed their organic imperfection and conduct themselves with the cold, impeccable precision of a robot. It is a pragmatic adaptation to the environment: automating thought to avoid bias, suppressing emotion to maximise efficiency.
That is why it is inevitable that we look back on childhood with such longing. In those early years lies a pure innocence, a clear-eyed view that needs neither to pigeonhole the world nor to submit to the social algorithm. That childlike magic fades with time, stifled by the mould of productive adulthood.
Even so, this transition does not spell an inescapable doom. Even if we learn to act like machines in classrooms and offices, the transition will not destroy the essential spark of the human condition, but will compel us to protect it. Hope does not lie in rejecting the evolution of our social behaviour, but in preserving that innocent warmth in the innermost recesses of our hearts. I am certain that we will be able to function with iron discipline whilst never forgetting the beating heart of flesh and blood from which we sprang.

El concepto de belief (creencia) es, tal vez, la fuerza más potente y vulnerable de nuestra arquitectura mental. Tenemos el derecho inalienable de abrazar las certezas que queramos; sin embargo, al habitar un mundo dominado por la subjetividad, la objetividad se vuelve un espejismo y la fe ajena, un terreno fértil para la manipulación.
El arte de olvidar que fuimos humanos
Nos encaminamos hacia un escenario en el que la supervivencia exige que nos amoldemos. Para encajar en las dinámicas escolares y laborales de hoy, el ser humano se ve obligado a desprenderse de su imperfección orgánica y conducirse con la precisión fría e impecable de un robot. Es una pragmática adaptación al medio: automatizar el pensamiento para evitar el sesgo, reprimir la emoción para maximizar la eficiencia.
Por eso resulta inevitable contemplar la infancia con tanto anhelo. En los primeros años habita una inocencia pura, una mirada limpia que no necesita encasillar el mundo ni someterse al algoritmo social. Esa magia infantil se desvanece con el tiempo, sofocada por el molde de la adultez productiva.
Aun así, este tránsito no representa una condena implacable. Aunque aprendamos a actuar como máquinas en las aulas y las oficinas, la transición no destruirá la chispa esencial de la condición humana, sino que nos obligará a protegerla. La esperanza no radica en rechazar la evolución de nuestra conducta social, sino en conservar esa calidez inocente en el rincón más íntimo del pecho. Estoy seguro de que seremos capaces de funcionar con la disciplina del acero sin olvidar jamás el latido de carne y hueso que nos dio origen.
