𝑺𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒏'𝒔 𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑫𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔

Hello beautiful people of the community.

It's another Monday, a day to grind and share what we've done over the weekend.

This pretty African print dress was what I worked on over the weekend. It was an express job. The client brought the fabric on fabric and received the outfit on Saturday.

When she showed me the style, it was quite confusing to understand the neckline from the image she showed me.

I zoomed in countless times to be able to analyse the style properly.

After which I got to work. I realized that it's an asymmetrical built up neckline and can only be achieved with the dart manipulation slash and spread method.

First thing I did was to bring out my pattern paper.

I drafted the basic bodice first, using my client's body measurement. Her front and back length, her bust, shoulder, chestline and bust span.

The next was to alter the basic bodice using the slash and spread method.

For the built up neckline, I extended the neck with by two inches. I made an asymmetric line across the neckline.

I did the same for the back as well.

For the lower bodice. I cut it in form of a flare. 720Β° flare.

To have a firm look. I ensure to interface using a hair stay.

The sleeve is a regular sleeve and so I cut it with a little puff effect.

I have learned that the inseam of an outfit is as important as the outseam. Clients take notes of the inseam and so I make sure it's very neat and I use the bagged out technique.

The hem of this dress has another design which needs a baby net. Here I had already finished my sewing before starting the new design.

Here's the baby net.

I secured with pins on the hem of the already sewn outfit. Cut in form of a godet.

After which I ran on my machine. I was about to sample it on my mannequin when it started raining and very early the next day, the client came for the outfit.

Here is her, although the picture she sent is blur which is quite disappointing but then it looked very good on her.

The challenges were how I had to sew all through Friday without a break.
My back ached and I was quite tensed and the other challenge was the lack of steady power supply.

My joy was full when my client sent me a positive review of her dress and how she loved it.

Image used belong to me, outfit cut and sewn by me.

That built-in neckline can be so confusing, trust you to give it your best, clean finishing inward and outward gives great satisfaction.

You did amazing Amie, keep up the good work.

You must have had a though time with that neckline but I trust that your creativity never disappoints. You did well with the dress and it fits her well. Well done and thanks for sharing.
