Hive Open Mic SEMANA 149 // Mestizaje // @aly.squid (Español/Ingles)

Un saludo amistoso queridos Hivers, como cada semana me encuentro en esta cita musical con las grandes personas que conforman esta bella comunidad. Para la semana 149 la temática es “Light of the World” y se me ocurrió traer como propuesta una canción que es muy especial para mí, su letra y música me transmiten una fuerza poderosa, podría decir que es una de mis favoritas. Esta por supuesto es mi humilde versión acústica de la canción “Mestizaje” de la banda española Ska-p.

Ska-p es una banda de punk ska de origen español, fue fundada en el año 1994 y desde entonces han publicado unos diez discos. La canción “Mestizaje” fue publicado en el año 2000 en el álbum Planeta Eskoria, por supuesto este es mi favorito de esta banda subversiva. Ya que contiene algunos de mis temas favoritos tales como Vergüenza, Eres un@ más, A la mierda, ETTs, Tío Sam, Violencia machista.

Esta canción es muy especial, le vínculo con el tema de esta semana porque su letra nos habla de lo diversa y maravillosa que es nuestra especie y de cómo el poder económico y político nos ha dividido, no solo a través de las naciones y sus fronteras y banderas, también con brechas económicas, sociales, raciales basadas en el poder que hace creer a unos que tienen más derechos que otros.

También hace un llamado al rescate y revalorización de la cultura popular. Tengo varios años trabajando en el sector cultural y he aprendido que cada grupo social tiene sus procesos, su forma de relacionarse, producir y desarrollarse; a través de sus necesidades y de los mecanismos que emplean en conjunto para responder a estas.

Esa es la cultura, la memoria colectiva de los pueblos y creo que esa es la luz que mantiene al mundo, nuestra especie es maravillosa, si pudiésemos aprender a vernos desde esa grandeza y no desde el poder, las cosas empezarían a cambiar.

A friendly greeting dear Hivers, as every week I meet in this musical appointment with the great people who make up this beautiful community. For week 149 the theme is "Light of the World" and it occurred to me to bring as a proposal a song that is very special to me, its lyrics and music transmit me a powerful force, I could say it is one of my favorites. This of course is my humble acoustic version of the song "Mestizaje" by the Spanish band Ska-p.

Ska-p is a punk ska band of Spanish origin, it was founded in 1994 and since then they have released about ten albums. The song "Mestizaje" was released in 2000 on the album Planeta Eskoria, of course this is my favorite of this subversive band. It contains some of my favorite songs such as Vergüenza, Eres un@ más, A la mierda, ETTs, Tío Sam, Violencia machista.

This song is very special, I link it to this week's theme because its lyrics tell us about how diverse and wonderful our species is and how economic and political power has divided us, not only through nations and their borders and flags, but also with economic, social, racial gaps based on power that makes some believe they have more rights than others.

It also calls for the rescue and revaluation of popular culture. I have several years working in the cultural sector and I have learned that each social group has its own processes, its own way of relating, producing and developing; through its needs and the mechanisms they use together to respond to them.

That is the culture, the collective memory of the people and I think that is the light that keeps the world, our species is wonderful, if we could learn to see ourselves from that greatness and not from the power, things would begin to change.
