To Maracaibo, traveling by Road with the kids

After several years, we returned to Maracaibo. Since 2018 I had not visited the city where we were all born in my family except for my youngest daughter who was born in Caracas.

And it is worth noting that the 2018 visit was for 2 days, and it happened because an aunt of my husband very dear to us died. In 2019, we were visited in Caracas by the children's paternal grandmother, and we were able to share quite a bit back then. But then came the pandemic with its distancing, and we had to shelter ourselves like everyone else.

These days my husband and I had a work trip to Maracaibo by land, we did not think about it and we grabbed our children, and we all left.

The excitement of the children was enormous. I particularly love to travel by road, of course by plane I love it too, maybe more. But the moments of traveling by road with the family are a very nice opportunity to show them the country.

At least I have very precious memories of my childhood traveling with my parents and grandmothers and even some trips with a family that filled a whole bus.

Since I have children I have tried as much as possible to fill their lives with memories of this nature because in my case they were unforgettable, so I hope for them.

On this trip, we left our home on the outskirts of Caracas, and it was a perfect day because the weather was very favorable. There was no sun, but it didn't rain either, there was no traffic and the trip went quite smoothly.

The scenery was beautiful, especially I could appreciate it when crossing the valleys of Aragua, you could see how the territory near the coast had already benefited from the heavy rain since May was falling on the country.

The roads in the center of the country are well maintained, and you can drive without any problem along the whole route. We chose to go via Puerto Cabello to take the coastal road that takes us to Falcón state because we had to make a stop in Coro.

Another way to get to Maracaibo is through Barquisimeto, in the state of Lara, but since we had plans with relatives in Coro, that was the route we chose.

The roads are very deteriorated when you enter the state of Falcon, you have to be very careful because you constantly run into potholes and speed bumps.

But what I like the most about taking this road is that in a good part of the trip we can see the sea through the window. In seven hours we arrived in Maracaibo with our family waiting for us.

We share with the family very nice moments, we visit places that we love like the Vereda del Lago that could not be missed. For each of these trips, I hope to make a new post recommending these places.

For the moment I wanted to share the experience of traveling by road with my children and have a great time with the excitement of returning to the city where I was born.

Después de varios años volvimos a Maracaibo. Desde el año 2018 no visitaba la ciudad donde nacimos todos en mi familia a excepción de mi hija menor que nació en Caracas.

Y vale destacar que la visita del 2018 fue de 2 días y ocurrió porque murió una tía de mi esposo muy querida para nosotros. En 2019 nos visitó en Caracas la abuela paterna de los niños y pudimos compartir bastante en aquel entonces. Pero luego vino la pandemia con su distanciamiento y nos tocó como a todos resguardarnos.

En estos días nos surgió un viaje de trabajo a mi esposo y a mí para Maracaibo por tierra, no lo pensamos y agarramos a nuestros muchachos y nos fuimos todos.

La emoción de los niños fue enorme. A mí particularmente me encanta viajar por carretera, por supuesto por avión también me gusta, tal vez más. Pero los momentos de viajar por carretera con la familia son una oportunidad muy bonita para mostrarles el país.

Al menos yo tengo recuerdos muy valiosos de mi niñez viajando con mis padres y con mis abuelas y hasta algunos viajes con un familión que llenaba un autobús completo.

Desde que tengo hijos he tratado en lo posible de llenar su vida con recuerdos de esta naturaleza porque en mi caso resultaron inolvidables, así mismo espero para ellos.

En este viaje salimos desde nuestra casa en las afueras de caracas y fue un día perfecto porque el clima era muy favorable. No había sol, pero tampoco llovió, no había tráfico y el viaje transcurrió bastante ligero.

El paisaje estaba hermoso, sobre todo pude apreciarlo al atravesar los valles de Aragua, se pudo ver como el territorio cercano a la costa se había visto beneficiado ya por la fuerte lluvia que desde el mes de mayo estaba cayendo sobre el país.

Las vías del centro del país están bien mantenidas y se puede circular sin problema por todo el trayecto. Nosotros escogimos irnos vía Puerto Cabello para tomar la vía de la costa que nos lleva al estado Falcón porque debíamos hacer una parada en Coro.

Otra vía para llegar a Maracaibo es pasando por Barquisimeto, en el estado Lara, pero como teníamos planes con familiares en Coro, esa fue la ruta que escogimos.

Las carreteras si están muy deterioradas cuando se adentran al estado Falcón, de verdad que hay que ir con mucho cuidado por lo constante que se topan con huecos y reductores de velocidad.

Pero a mí lo que me gusta más de tomar esta vía es que en una buena parte del trayecto vamos viendo el mar por la ventana. En siete horas llegamos a Maracaibo con la familia esperándonos contentos.

Compartimos con la familia momentos muy lindos, visitamos lugares que nos encantan como la Vereda del Lago que no podía faltar. Para cada uno de estos paseos espero hacer un nuevo post recomendando estos sitios.

Por los momentos quise compartir la experiencia de viajar por carretera con mis niños y pasarla fenomenal con la emoción de volver a la ciudad donde nací.
