Today I invite you in Schönenwerd along the Aare river Switzerland, you can even discover , the pile dwellings as well its park in English style. It has several ponds and canals with a variety of water birds in a natural style landscape. A unique European piece in the park are the distinctive elements miniature pile dwellings. Bally park is an unforgettable beautiful experience at any season of the year.
Carl Franz Bally the founder of the Bally shoe factories, had the park created between 1868 - 1890 in an English garden style. It was intended as a recreational space for the workers and the community. He was also an energy pioneer, in 1880 he created a canal from the river Aare running from Gretzenbach to the factory site. It was an amazing challenge, but he succeeded, the mechanical, water-driven turbine really turned at the end, a part of this beautiful park.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful information about Schönenwerd in Switzerland. The park sounds like a truly enchanting place with its English-style design, ponds, canals, and diverse water bird population. The miniature pile dwellings add a unique touch to the European charm of the park. It's fascinating to learn about Carl Franz Bally's contribution to the park's creation and his innovative energy project with the canal from the river Aare.

What is your favorite feature or attraction within the Bally park?

I remember Bally used to be a very good brand of footwear, and I think it still has a good reputation now. It's very interesting to see were it originated from, and that the owner was more than just a businessmen, and cared about his workers and the community.

Certainly the shoes are until today one of the best quality.
How goes for the workers today, I do not know, only that since 21 years Bally Factory is in Ticino where annually in the factory continue about more than 180 000 pairs of shoes are still made by hand. Manny thanks!
