Skewed vision

Could it be said that most people see their lives with perfect clarity, choosing to see only what they want to see? When they look objectively at it is the image they see crystal clear, accurate and honest?

I'm an advocate of self-reflection, evaluation, and determining what works and what doesn't before making changes; Amendments with the intention of moving forward, upward, and improving oneself, the situation or whatever scenario requires it. I believe there's more value in honest appraisal of oneself than in deluding oneself that all is crystal clear and perfect. I don't mean I look for problems that may not exist, just that I'm open to seeing them if they do and when they arise.

I'll be honest, sometimes my observation of myself, emotional state, attitude, actions or behaviour sees a scenario that looks much like the image I took through my car window today. It's how I want to see it though, unadulterated, raw and honest. If that's what it looks like, then that's what it is...Now, what can I do to make it better? That's my mindset on it.

Choosing to see things as perfect, ignoring it when things are not, removes the opportunity to evaluate, grow and develop or improve and change for the better. It takes honesty and courage to see the faults and flaws within ourselves and more still to take action with the intention of addressing them. It can be confronting, however in my experience rewarding.

I don't believe perfect exists, in others, or in myself, and therefore logic says there's room for improvement. Deluding oneself that everything's fine , when it's obviously not, steals away a valuable opportunity to develop.
