Hello splinter-lovers. I hope you are doing well in this fine day.

Today, I must begin by addressing a game where I’ve expected my opponent to be gud, where his monsters looked terrifying and when he certainly had more damage causeing monsters than I had. But, as it turned out, I defused the storm he tried to make before he could say, “stop”. But, this game is in the silver league from back in the day. Meaning, this one is handpicked from my storage of awesomeness. More unique and utter reason-defying plays lie dormant there, awaiting their release.
So, without further ado, let’s begin.

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 49, a huge amount of mana, enough to get a good team with Water or Dragon summoners. But, fortunately, the game didn’t allow them, instead they gave us Nature, Life, and Death summoners. Now, my most favourite and awesome deck is from the death summoner, Thaddius Brood. This summoner administers a debuff of HP and magic by 1 to all enemy monsters. Moreover, this status effect remains permanent unless the opponent use monsters that have martyr effect or bloodlust ability.

The battle rules are:

  • Unprotected: monsters do not have any armour or get any armour from abilities or summoner buffs.
  • Taking Sides: Neutral monsters may not be used in battle.

Battle Details

Let’s begin from my side.

Tank: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns). This one was upgraded to level 4 and so it has an attack of 3 with a huge HP of 11 and the summoner is capped at level 4 even though I got it to level 6.
Melee Attackers: Arachne Thug(Ability: Reach, atrample), Silent Sha-vi(Ability: Sneak).
Ranged Attackers: Queen Of Crows(Ability: Close Range, Geadwinds).
Magic Attackers: Kain Hace(Ability: Blast, Magic Deflection), Cthulu(Ability: Cripple, Flying).

What I wanted was to attack from all sides. I decrease his HP and magic damage first and them capitalise on it by keeping my Windeku, that has the thorns ability, that would do a good damage when hit by other melee monsters. I kept Arachne Thug that might get the opportunity to “trample” over his monsters if it got to finish off anyone. They both had high HP so I gambled on this fact and kept Kain Hace, a monster with high damage output with extremely low HP behind Arachne Thug, this guy was my Ace. I wanted him to do a good damage to the enemy tank and the one behind it. Then, I chose Cthulu, a monster with equal damage as Kain Hace but with extremely high HP and lowest speed. This would prove to be a good titan when the time would arrive. And lastly, I kept Sha-vi in the back as it has a good amount of HP and damage.

My total damage output per round would be 17. Adding in the damage from thorns and blast damage, I should have 4 damage, 2 from thorns ability and 2 from blast. That makes an aggregate of 21 damage per round.

Now, the opponent’s part.

Summoner: Obsidian(Buff: Increase in magic damage 1 to all monsters with magic attack).

Tank: Grund or, as I like to call it “Killer Croc”.(Ability: Doubke Strike).

Ranged attackers: Venari Seedsmith(Ability: Scavenge).
Magic Attackers: Suidae Shaman(Ability: Recharge), Goblin Psychic(Ability: Tank Heal, Affliction), Mycekis Slipspawn(Ability: Taunt, Forcefield), Djinn Biljka(Ability: Camouflage, Void).

His strategy was sound. He used a literal “boogeyman” in the tank’s position, a terror among terrifiers, that shreds tanks easily. Behind it, a monster that scavenges HP and would have high HP when it would come to the tank’s position. Then, he has the Shaman, this guy, even though it could attack every second round, would do a damage of 9 when his turn would come along. Then, he has the Healer(goblin), that would keep healing his tank while dealing a considerable amount of damage to me. The Slipspawn would take in all the damage while doing a good amount of damage itself. That way, his tank would be left alone and it would unleash all kinds on hell from the front. The Biljka was no big threat, yet it’s ability was that it could not be targeted. His strategy was simple yet deadly.

His overall damage was 19. Considering the summoner buff, it would come to 23 damage per round.

Major Events

Round 1

IMG_7233.jpeg

The summoner buffs and debuffs were instilled and the battle was afoot. I had the overall advantage as my damage output was highest. Luckily, both the attacks of Grund and so both times his monster took the thorns damage. Of course, this made my tank pop out like a balloon

IMG_7234.jpeg

Next, thanks to the Slipspawn’s taunt ability, Kain Hace’s attack hit it directly and did a blast damage on both Diljka and Goblin.

IMG_7235.jpeg

And lastly, my Cthulu deleted the Slipspawn. But, in the last turn, Goblin heals up the mighty tank and does a good damage on my Thug.

Round 2

IMG_7236.jpeg

My Sha-vi strikes from the back and eliminated the Goblin.

IMG_7237.jpeg

Grund took out my “make-shift” tank and gets another hit at my Queen of Crows.

IMG_7238.jpeg

And finally, his mighty tank went out thanks to the Queen.

IMG_7239.jpeg

The the last moments, his Shaman gets a good hit and does a damage of 6 to the Queen. Cthulu gets a final attack on the scavenger.

Round 3

IMG_7240.jpeg

And just like that, even before the 3rd round ended, his Seedsmith was taken out easily by the Queen and Kain and his last unit fell flat on it’s face as it continued to charge itself for the next round.

Results

Even though I had the advantage over him, HP wise, I honestly thought that it was over, when I saw his killer Croc, the guy usually tears up the tanks pretty well and with a modest speed it’s attacks miss its mark occasionally. I didn’t think that my tank would take in damage from Grund twice, hence my overall damage increased by 2 to an overall 23. His idea with his monsters was flawless too, but thanks to my Summoner’s ability, it was all turned to dust.
This match, I also happed to get the most amount of rating I’ve received in a long while. I got 4213 RP and +68 rating, a massive haul!.
