A friend recently introduced me to the beauty of hand-carved Balinese doors. The few I've seen pictures of have that same green varnish as your first image and are really nice
I hear some folks collect and hang them on their walls as features, like they're paintings

People have different preferences, depending on a lot of things.
I've never seen a hand-carved Balinese door, so I had to Google it. It's nice but I think it's too decorated for me. But it's nice to photograph it.
