¿Somos realmente libres?

Are we really free?

Es una pregunta que hoy medité mucho después de que mi jefe me dijera que todos sus empleados –incluyéndome- literalmente le pertenecen. Okay, necesitamos trabajar y, obviamente, seguir reglas pero… ¿Por qué siempre debemos depender de otros? claro que es necesario, es decir: una empresa requiere a un jefe y el jefe a su vez a empleados. Es como la cadena alimenticia, los más fuertes en el eslabón más alto mientras que a los débiles los cubre su sombra. Claro que eso de “Fuerte” y “débil” queda a la interpretación… algunas veces las hormigas más pequeñas pueden darte una gran lección de vida.

Why do we always have to depend on others? of course it is necessary, that is to say: a company requires a boss and the boss in turn requires employees. It is like the food chain, the strongest in the highest link while the weak are covered by its shadow. Of course, that of "strong" and "weak" is left to interpretation... sometimes the smallest ants can give you a great life lesson.

Entonces, siguiendo en el contexto de la libertad: ¿Podemos ser libres en este mundo cuando le debes parte de tu vida a todo el mundo? O sea, estamos encadenados a un montón de hechos que nos arrastran a los mismos errores de siempre. Yo le llamo “ideas incorrectas”, y dichas ideas son las que nos impiden conocer la verdadera libertad. Si eres una persona que esperas que otro te diga qué hacer, pues déjame decirte que no eres para nada libre, sino un instrumento tan autónomo como los títeres en sus teatros. De nada sirve que digas que eres independiente cuando andas detrás de las locuras de otros.

So, continuing in the context of freedom: Can we be free in this world when you owe part of your life to everyone? In other words, we are chained to a lot of facts that lead us to the same mistakes as always. I call it "wrong ideas," and those ideas are what keep us from knowing true freedom. If you are a person who expects someone else to tell you what to do, then let me tell you that you are not free at all, but an instrument as autonomous as the puppets in their theaters. There is no use in saying that you are independent when you are after the crazy things of others.

Cuando mi jefe me dijo: “Todos ustedes me pertenecen” yo me eché a reír de inmediato, a pesar de que el resto de mis compañeros se quedaron mudos y sudorosos. El jefe también rió conmigo, pero quizás no entendía que el chiste era realmente él. Y entonces pensé esto en lo seguro de mi mente: “Nadie te pertenece tonto”, y luego mis risas se ahogaron por el hecho de no decírselo en la cara ante el posible e inminente despido. Ahí entendí que no estaba siendo libre en mi totalidad, pues mi trabajo de alguna manera me impedía expresar lo que pensaba de mi jefe en ese momento XD.

When my boss told me, "You all belong to me," I immediately burst out laughing, even though the rest of my colleagues were dumb and sweaty. The boss laughed with me too, but maybe he didn't understand that the joke was really him. And then I thought this in the safe of my mind: "Nobody belongs to you silly", and then my laughter was drowned by the fact of not saying it to his face in the face of the possible and imminent dismissal. There I understood that I was not being totally free, because my work somehow prevented me from expressing what I thought of my boss at that time XD.

Claro que debe haber un respeto, pero debe ser mutuo. En primer lugar, aunque trabajemos no somos esclavos de nadie, y por ende tampoco nadie es nuestro dueño a excepción de nuestra pareja amorosa… Jajaja es broma, es broma XD. Pero ya hablando en serio, ¡nadie puede decir que alguien le pertenece! La libertad, la de verdad, contempla una armonía entre las partes existenciales. Cada quien tiene derecho a decir lo que piensa, pero no a denigrar en el proceso.

Sure there must be respect, but it must be mutual. First of all, even if we work we are not anyone's slaves, and therefore no one is our owner except for our loving partner ... Hahaha just kidding, just kidding XD. But seriously, no one can say that someone belongs to him! Freedom, the true one, contemplates a harmony between the existential parts. Everyone has the right to say what they think, but not to denigrate in the process.

Dependemos del sistema “mundo” para vivir, ya sea en el trabajo, en la escuela, en la política e incluso en el arte; aun así, debemos encaminar nuestras vidas a una verdadera independencia; libres del rencor, libres del odio, la avaricia, la prepotencia, y por sobretodo libres de las mentiras. Mírate muy cuidadosamente; no necesitas que otros te hagan sentir como un esclavo de sus ideas porque eres capaz de pensar en las tuyas. Nunca dejes de creer en algo simplemente porque alguien no esté de acuerdo.

We depend on the "world" system to live, whether at work, at school, in politics, and even in art; even so, we must direct our lives to true independence; free from rancor, free from hatred, greed, arrogance, and above all free from lies. Look at yourself very carefully; You don't need others to make you feel like a slave to their ideas because you are capable of thinking about yours. Never stop believing in something simply because someone disagrees.

La libertad radica en nuestro espíritu, y nadie podrá esclavizar las ideas que de nuestro interior surgen.

Freedom lies in our spirit, and no one will be able to enslave the ideas that arise from within us.

Creo que, no hay nada mejor que responder antes las necedades con sabiduría. No le dije tonto a mi jefe como en mi pensamiento se reflejó la idea, en cambio, disfracé mi sarcasmo con un inocente chiste:

I think there is nothing better than answering nonsense with wisdom. I did not say silly to my boss as the idea was reflected in my thinking, instead, I disguised my sarcasm with an innocent joke:

-Entonces usted también en nuestro esclavo, porque también depende de nosotros.

-Then you are also our slave, because it also depends on us.

Reímos juntos, aunque sé que a él realmente lo afectó aquella frase XD. Digamos que, todo depende de cómo manejes adecuadamente la libertad :-) Recuerda:
