Hola Hiver. Espero te encuentres bien.

Hoy quiero mostrarte unas fotos un poco divertidas para algunos y no tanto para otros y es que detrás de cada uno de ellas hay una historia fascinante, mucho trabajo, esfuerzo y cansancio.

Las siguientes fotos son de algunos compañeros Médicos con los que comparto día a día en el Hospital Ruíz y Paéz donde cumplimos función de Médicos Residentes. No tiene que ser secreto que dentro de los institutos de Salud Pública en mi País Venezuela, se trabaja muchas horas por poco sueldo.

Nuestro rencito, es el único Hospital de referencia tipo IV que abarca todas las emergencias en el Sur-Oriente del país. Lo que quiero decir es que podemos tener muchas intervenciones quirúrgicas diarias, rara vez se detienen los pabellones.

En mi formación en el Servicio de Anestesiología estamos siempre trabajando en conjunto con los Servicios quirúrgicos (Cirugía, Cirugía Pediatrica, Urología, Traumatología y Ortopedia, Ginecología y Obstetricia)

Muchas veces los pacientes no se dan cuenta del gran esfuerzo y dedicación que ponemos para que todo salga bien en quirófano, sacrificamos horas de sueño y comida en todo momento, porque es bien dificíl e irracional dejar una cirugía a media para ir al baño o comer y son cirugías continuas de muchas horas que al finalizar te deja agotamiento físico mental.

Today I want to show you some photos a little funny for some and not so much for others and is that behind each of them there is a fascinating story, a lot of work, effort and fatigue.

The following photos are of some of my fellow doctors with whom I share day by day at the Ruíz y Paéz Hospital where we work as Resident Doctors. It should not be a secret that in the Public Health Institutes in my country, Venezuela, we work long hours for little pay.

Our small hospital is the only type IV referral hospital that covers all the emergencies in the southeast of the country. What I mean is that we can have many daily surgical interventions, the wards are rarely stopped.

In my training in the Anesthesiology Service we are always working together with the surgical services (Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Urology, Traumatology and Orthopedics, Gynecology and Obstetrics).

Many times patients do not realize the great effort and dedication that we put to ensure that everything goes well in the operating room, we sacrifice hours of sleep and food at all times, because it is very difficult and irrational to leave a surgery in the middle to go to the bathroom or eat and they are continuous surgeries of many hours that at the end leave you physically and mentally exhausted.

Siempre estamos atentos y dispuestos a atender todas las emergencias, pero no todos los pacientes tienen las mismas opiniones ni mismas vivencias de como fue su estadia en el Hospital.

Pero lo cierto es el sacrificio y disposición con que hacemos nuestro trabajo, muchas horas agotadoras hacen llegar a estas fotos, que entre nosotros el personal de salud, más que una broma, es la forma de decir "trabaje hasta que no pude más", "di mi 100%", porque somos humanos y tenemos límites.

We are always attentive and willing to attend to all emergencies, but not all patients have the same opinions or the same experiences of how their stay in the Hospital was.

But what is certain is the sacrifice and willingness with which we do our work, many exhausting hours that lead to these photos, which among us health personnel, more than a joke, is a way of saying "I worked until I couldn't work anymore", "I gave my 100%", because we are human and we have limits.

Así que cuando veas a algún personal de salud más dormido que despierto, o este tipo de fotos en las redes sociales, lo primero que deben pensar es cuantas horas estaría despierto trabajando, que la mejor opción para domir sea una silla, una mesa, recostarse de una pared.

So when you see some health personnel more asleep than awake, or this kind of photos on social networks, the first thing you should think is how many hours would be awake working, that the best option to sleep is a chair, a table, leaning against a wall.
