When FSD handles traffic, stops, lane changes and the little surprises that pop up, glancing at other cars reveals regular drivers glued to the wheel, one foot bouncing between gas and brake, eyes flicking around and often sneaking a look at their phone.

That creates concern for nearby road users.

It's not that drivers are deliberately bad — human limits apply: fatigue after a long day, a half-second distraction, frustration in traffic, or simple misjudgment.

Human error is responsible for about 94% of crashes.

FSD doesn't have those problems. Tesla's AI stays focused every mile, sees far more than humans can, and reacts faster.

Tesla's latest data show cars using FSD get into a major collision about once every 5.3 million miles, while the average driver has one crash roughly every 660,000 miles — about eight times safer.

After experiencing how smooth and calm it is, conventional driving starts to feel very risky by comparison: the constant little swerves, the late braking, the drifting lanes are hard to ignore, and most people are still using the old approach.

Widespread deployment of FSD would likely save many lives.
