Greetings, Hive!

When watching series, movies or playing videogames, that audiovisual product makes us feel something, that "something" can be happiness, sadness, even anger, and like any other means of audiovisual artistic expression; anime is not exempt from this. Today I’m bringing you a post that I'm very excited to write because anime is one of the audiovisual media that I enjoy the most and "surpassed" only by video games, as you may have read in the title below I will talk about my top emotional moments in anime. Before I start I want to clarify a couple of things; the first is that when I refer to "emotional moments" they don't have to be strictly sad moments, and although the line is very thin I wouldn't want you to get confused; secondly, none of the moments will be in a specific order of preference. Oh, also be forewarned that there will be SPOILERS.

So without any further ado, let's start!

We start off on the right foot. In Boku No Hero’s world suddenly people with very particular abilities were born, these abilities were called "quirks", also this phenomenon spread quickly around the world and by the time the story begins around 80% of the world's population has a quirk. As you can imagine, these quirks gave way to a series of changes in society as we know it; while on the one hand there are those who used their quirks for good, others dedicated themselves to do evil. The protagonist of our story is Izuku Midoriya, a boy with a gentle personality whose dream is to become the number one hero and the one who saves everyone with a smile, just like his biggest idol in the whole world: All Might. The thing is that at the age of 4 his quirk didn't manifest itself, and after a visit to the doctor with his mother he received the news that tore his dreams and his little heart apart: Midoriya was born without a gift. Narratively this was handled in a great way because it makes you feel how excluded can be someone who is born without a quirk in this world, however despite all the odds are against him, Midoriya doesn’t give up his dream of becoming a hero, time passes and he is still determined no matter how he will do it. By the time the anime begins Midoriya is 14 years old, his ideals as well as his admiration for All Might remain the same as ever, what he didn’t expect was that soon the day of his destiny would come...

One day, merely by chance, Midoriya meets none other than All Might itself, and after clinging to him (literally) he explains Midoriya that being a hero isn’t that simple and even less so without a quirk, that he was sorry he couldn't help him and that he should think things over. After that a villain appears in the city and attacks Midoriya's childhood friend, Katsuki Bakugo, the heroes around were having trouble controlling the situation and even All Might himself was hesitant to intervene due to the wound in his body. However the situation takes an unexpected turn when in an act of pure heroism - and irrationality - Midoriya decides to intervene to try to save his friend, claiming that his body moved by itself despite not having a quirk. Inspired by this, All Might intervenes and quickly ends the situation while also taking an interest in the young Midoriya. Later that day, while Midoriya was on his way home after receiving a scolding from all the heroes and reflecting on what he did, All Might interrupts him on his way. All Might acknowledges Midoriya's act of heroism, claiming that a true hero is someone who acts without thinking, and after an inspiring speech All Might tells Midoriya the words he always wanted to hear: You can become a hero too. Words that came accompanied by a brilliant music and staging that make us feel the emotionality and importance of the moment, the news is so moving for Midoriya that he throws himself to the floor crying and squeezing his chest, a sublime moment and the beginning of this adventure.

Naruto is the anime that has made me cry and get emotional the most, so two things were clear: I had to include a moment from this series and it was going to be difficult to choose which one. I recapped as much as I could the 700 episodes of the whole series and in the end I found myself in a triple tie: the moment when Naruto and Kurama break the seal to unite their chakra; Naruto meeting his dad or Naruto meeting his mom. In the end I decided to "cheat" by listing the two moments when he meets his parents as one. I don't think it's even necessary to have gotten this far in Naruto Shippuden to understand the importance of these events in the character's life, Naruto grew up as an orphan since his parents sacrificed themselves to protect him during the Kyuubi's attack on Konoha and also sealed the monster inside him, which as we all know, resulted in a pretty complex life for our airhead ninja. Naruto grew up without the love of his parents, being rejected by everyone for having the Kyuubi inside him, for many years he had no one but his classmates - who didn't like him much either - and to top it all off, he was considered a failure as a ninja. All these circumstances defined him and made him the character we know today, and it wasn't until he met Jiraiya that he felt something like fatherly love. Unfortunately Naruto lost his beloved master Jiraiya after he died trying to defeat Pain on his own in Amegakure.

During the arc of Pain's Invasion of Konoha Naruto confronts the leader of the Akatsuki in order to save the village and also avenge his master, however he’s overcome by the enemy and the Kyuubi's chakra takes over him and as the fight develops more of the Kyuubi's tails are appearing as an indication that at any moment the Kyuubi is going to completely take over Naruto's body. At the climax of the confrontation, Naruto was completely passed out and the Kyuubi was about to break the seal holding him back, until the Fourth Hokage appears to stop him, and this is where the moment that made me cry comes: Minato Namikaze, the yellow lightning of Konoha and the Fourth Hokage reveals to Naruto that he is his father, and with a touching reaction, Naruto tells his dad that he has needed him a lot. On the other hand, Naruto met his mom during his training to unite his chakra with the Kyuubi's; while Naruto was fighting the nine-tailed fox and almost losing the fight, Kushina Uzumaki, Minato Namikaze's wife and Naruto Uzumaki's mother, appeared to help him win the match. Between tears and happiness (from us all) they had a reunion in which we also knew the past of these two characters. Undoubtedly a couple of moments that will remain engraved in my heart forever.

Yes, I couldn't pick just one moment from the wonderful ending of this masterpiece. Let's see, where can I start? On the one hand we have Greed's death and his realization as a living being, Roy's confrontation against Envy (my favorite character by the way), Wrath's death at the hands of Scar, we have Alphonse's sacrifice for Edward to get his arm back, the final confrontation between Father and Edward, Hohenhaim's redemption and death, Edward giving up his gate of truth and Alchemy to recover his brother's body, and of course that wonderful final quote with which the adventure ends:

All this converges in a roller coaster of feelings in which it is impossible not to be moved, the journey of the Elric brothers was long and complicated but it has also been a journey that none of us who enjoyed this incredible story will soon forget. I dare to say in fact that it is a perfect ending, all the ends are tied in a logical way and the feeling of happiness that remains when you finish watching the last episode is something indescribable. A masterpiece.

I hope we can all agree that Chimera Ants is one of the best arcs ever created in the history of manga and anime, and whoever thinks otherwise please go to therapy. Seriously now, the last arc of the now on hiatus HunterxHunter, The Chimera Ants, is an arc that no one is prepared for once it starts, it's an experience that can't be properly described or at least I don't feel I have the capacity to do so. The main premise of the arc is that the Chimera Ants are a species of extremely dangerous insects that come from the "outside world", the main threat they present to the world is that they reproduce through a process (fictional) called "Phagogenesis", whose principle is that by eating a living being they pass on to the next generation of ants the genes of that species, evolving in the process. The first two humans to be eaten by the ants are a couple of children living in NGL, Kurt and Reina. As the plot progresses it is revealed that the living beings that are eaten are reincarnated in the form of chimera ants and some even retain memories of their life as humans, it is also revealed that Colt, the first and most loyal squad leader to the chimera queen is the reincarnation of the first child they ate, Kurt. However, since there is so much going on during this arc it's easy to stop wondering what happened to his little sister Queen, and it's not until the end of the arc that it's revealed that his sister was reincarnated as Shidore, an ant who until now had seemed like a minor character without much relevance. After King Meruem’s death the ants that were left alive are thinking about what to do now that they serve no one and the chain of command has been broken, so Shidore and Bloster decide to return to their hometown in NGL. Once there Shidore gets closer to what was once her home but not before showing us how Kurt and Reina's mother keeps hope that her children are still alive...

When Shidore opens her house’s door her mother immediately recognizes her, throws herself on top of her and Shidore asks her how she recognized her, to which her mother replies: "Of course I know! I'm your mother!" and well, I guess I don't need to say anything more.

Evangelion is a work that resonates with the public for many reasons, some perhaps more valid than others, but as I said in this anime’s review, Evangelion is a story that talks about depression through all the paraphernalia of its complex plot and you don't have to be a genius to realize that its protagonist, Shinji Ikari, is VERY depressed. And rightfully so, poor Shinji has been exposed to a number of situations that are more than unfair for his short 14 years old; his mother died, his father hates him, and he has to pilot a biomechanical robot to save the world and more importantly, win the approval of his father and the people who expect something from him. In 1997 the original anime story concluded with The End of Evangelion, a movie that leaves a more than confusingly bleak ending, Shinji decides to give humanity a new chance but he doesn't exactly look like the sanest person around, let alone Asuka. However, as many fans of this work will know, its author, Hideaki Anno, was going through a strong depression at the time of producing the series and portrayed that both in his characters and in the script itself.

In 2007 began the release of a new series of films called Rebuild of Evangelion which were intended to be a reinterpretation of the original story and also sought to capture new audiences for the franchise. The first two films (Evangelion: 1.0 You are (not) alone and Evangelion: 2.0 You can (not) advance) were clearly an adaptation almost to the letter of the original source material with only few changes, however the end of the second film radically changes the course of events. In November 2012 came out the controversial “Evangelion: 3.0 you can (not) redo” and ended up dividing the fandom, although the film wasn’t precisely bad it presented a number of ideas and concepts that needed a sequel to complete, and after a tortuous development, multiple delays, and almost 9 years of waiting, in March 2021 finally came to light the film that would put an end to everything: Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. Expectations varied a lot and the public didn't know what to expect, but fortunately they gave us a movie that turned out to be a love letter to all Evangelion fans. To make a long story short, in this movie Shinji hits his lowest point, but he also decides to face the demons that have tortured him for so long, he confronts and forgives his father, he lets go of the pain of his mother's absence, he understands that his feelings are valid and that those who are close to him love him and care about his wellbeing. All this culminates in a scene in which we see a much more adult Shinji being happy, laughing, with self-confidence, a scene that speaks not only of the character but of its author and his personal growth, and that works as a ray of hope for all those who suffer from something as difficult as depression. You can always overcome it, you can always get ahead, and you too deserve light and happiness in your life.

Throughout the first 3 seasons of Shingeki No Kyojin we are constantly intrigued about the world’s truth, we know nothing about the titans, nor their origin, nor what lies beyond the walls, each revelation ends up complicating things even more, the search for the long-awaited freedom is simplified to know what lies beyond the walls, in meeting that endless lake of salt water where the view is lost on the horizon. Until this point that is the freedom that Eren is looking for, but... When discovering the world’s truth that dream falls completely, that dream to which they dedicated their life turned out to be a lie, the world ended up being a much crueler place than they thought, the concept of good and evil is completely deformed, the titans were no longer the enemies, the titans were the victims of something much crueler...

That is why that moment that they dreamed so much, to know the sea, the moment for which countless soldiers and comrades gave their lives ended up being a lie, freedom is not beyond the walls, beyond the walls is the sea, and beyond the sea there are only enemies. That moment when the Survey Corps reached the sea and that perfectly could have been the end of this story was nothing more than the beginning of a much worse hell. This moment is my favorite moment of all Shingeki No Kyojin, it's portrayed in an impeccable way, the voice acting is painful, the colors are vivid and bright but there is no blue in the world that would give them freedom, at the end of this scene it's impossible not to feel empty and sad, because after all... Freedom is much more complex than going through a wall.

¡Saludos, Hive!

Cuándo vemos una serie, película o jugamos un videojuego, es porque dicho producto audiovisual nos hace sentir algo, ese “algo” puede ser felicidad, tristeza, incluso rabia, y al igual que cualquier otro medio de expresión artístico audiovisual, el anime no queda exento de esto. Hoy traigo un post que me emociona bastante escribir porque el anime es uno de los medios audiovisuales que más disfruto “superado” únicamente por los videojuegos, y como habrán podido leer en el título a continuación hablaré acerca de mi top de momentos emocionales en el anime. Antes de comenzar quiero aclarar un par de cosas; la primera es que al referirme a “momentos emocionales” no tienen por qué ser momentos estrictamente tristes, y aunque la línea es muy delgada no quisiera que se confundiera; en segundo lugar, ninguno de los momentos estará en un orden específico de preferencia. Ah, también estén prevenidos de que habrán SPOILERS.

Así que sin más preámbulos, ¡comencemos!

Empezamos pisando fuerte. En el mundo de Boku No Hero un día comenzaron a nacer personas con habilidades bastante particulares a las que llamaron “dones”, este fenómeno se extendió rápidamente alrededor del mundo y para el momento que inicia la historia alrededor de un 80% de la población mundial cuenta con un don. Como habrán de imaginarse, estos dones dieron paso a una serie de cambios en la sociedad como la conocemos; mientras que por una parte hay quienes usaron sus dones para el bien, otros se dedicaron a hacer el mal. El protagonista de nuestra historia es Izuku Midoriya, un niño de personalidad gentil cuyo sueño es convertirse en el héroe número 1 y en quién salve a todos con una sonrisa, al igual que lo hace su mayor ídolo en el mundo: All Might. El problema con esto es que a los 4 años su don no se manifestó, y luego de una visita al médico con su madre recibió la noticia que desgarró sus sueños y su pequeño corazón: Midoriya nació sin un don. Narrativamente esto fue manejado de una forma genial porque te hace sentir lo excluido que puede ser alguien que nazca sin un don en este mundo, sin embargo a pesar de que todos los pronósticos estén en su contra Midoriya no renuncia a su sueño de convertirse en héroe, el tiempo pasa y el sigue decidido sin importarle como lo hará. Para cuándo comienza el anime Midoriya tiene 14 años, sus ideales así como su admiración por All Might siguen igual que siempre, lo que no se esperaba era que pronto iba a llegar el día de su destino…

Un día, por pura casualidad, Midoriya se encuentra con nada más y nada menos que All Might, y luego de aferrarse a él (literalmente) este le explica a Midoriya que ser un héroe no es tan sencillo y mucho menos sin un don, que lamentaba mucho no poder ayudarlo y que pensara mejor las cosas. Luego de eso un villano aparece en la ciudad y atrapa al amigo de la infancia de Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, los héroes alrededor estaban teniendo problemas controlando la situación e incluso el mismo All Might estaba dudoso en intervenir debido a la herida en su cuerpo, no obstante la situación da un giro inesperado cuándo en un acto de heroísmo puro – e irracionalidad – Midoriya decide intervenir para tratar de salvar a su amigo, alegando que su cuerpo se movió a pesar de no tener un don, inspirado por esto All Might se inspira e interviene para acabar rápidamente con la situación y además interesándose en el joven Midoriya. Más tarde ese mismo día, mientras Midoriya se dirigía a su casa luego de recibir un regaño de parte de todos los héroes y reflexionando acerca de lo que hizo, All Might interrumpe su camino. All Might reconoce el acto de heroísmo de Midoriya, alegando que un héroe de verdad es alguien que actúa sin pensarlo, y luego de un discurso inspirador All Might le dice a Midoriya las palabras que siempre quiso escuchar: Tú también puedes ser un héroe. Palabras que vinieron acompañadas de una música y puesta en escena brillantes que nos hacen sentir la emotividad e importancia del momento, la noticia es tan conmovedora para Midoriya que este se lanza al suelo a llorar apretando su pecho. Un momento sublime y el comienzo de esta aventura.

Sin pensarlo mucho Naruto es el anime que más me ha hecho llorar y emocionarme, por lo que habían dos cosas claras: tenía que incluir algún momento de esta serie y me iba a costar bastante decidir cuál iba a ser. Recapitulé lo más que pude los 700 episodios de toda la obra y al final me quedé en un triple empate: el momento en el que Naruto y Kurama rompen el sello para unir su chakra; Naruto conociendo a su papá o Naruto conociendo a su mamá. Al final decidí hacer “trampa” poniendo en la lista los dos momentos en los que conoce a sus padres como si fuese uno solo. Creo que no es necesario ni siquiera haber llegado hasta este punto en Naruto Shippuden para entender la importancia de estos acontecimientos en la vida del personaje, Naruto se crió como un huérfano ya que sus padres se sacrificaron para protegerlo durante el ataque del Kyuubi a la Aldea de la Hoja y además sellaron al monstruo dentro de él, lo que como todos sabemos, resulto en una vida bastante compleja para nuestro ninja cabeza hueca. Naruto creció sin el amor de sus padres, siendo rechazado por todos por tener dentro de el al Kyuubi, durante muchos años no tuvo a nadie más que a sus compañeros de clases – que tampoco era como que lo querían mucho eh – y para colmo, era considerado un fracaso como ninja. Todas estas circunstancias lo definieron e hicieron del personaje lo que conocemos hoy en día, y no fue sino hasta que conoció a Jiraiya que sintió algo parecido al amor paternal. Desafortunadamente Naruto perdió a su querido maestro Jiraiya tras su muerte al intentar derrotar a Pain por su cuenta en la Aldea Oculta de la Lluvia.

Durante el arco de la Invasión de Pain a Konoha Naruto se enfrenta al líder de los Akatsuki con el fin de salvar a la aldea y además vengar a su maestro, sin embargo es superado por el enemigo y el chakra del Kyuubi se apodera de él y medida que la pelea se desarrolla más colas del Kyuubi van apareciendo, como indicativo de que en cualquier momento el Kyuubi se va a apoderar por completo del cuerpo de Naruto. Llegado el momento cumbre del enfrentamiento, Naruto estaba completamente desmayado y el Kyuubi a punto de romper el sello que lo retiene, hasta que aparece el cuarto Hokage para impedirlo, y aquí es donde viene el momento que me hizo llorar: Minato Namikaze, el relámpago amarillo de Konoha y el cuarto Hokage le revela a Naruto que es su padre, y con una conmovedora reacción, Naruto le dice a su papá que lo ha necesitado mucho. Por su parte, Naruto conoció a su mamá durante su entrenamiento para unir su chakra con el del Kyuubi; mientras Naruto peleaba con el zorro de las nueve colas y ya casi perdiendo la pelea, apareció Kushina Uzumaki, esposa de Minato Namikaze y madre de Naruto Uzumaki para ayudarle a ganar el encuentro. Entre lágrimas y felicidad (de todos) tuvieron un reencuentro en el que además conocimos el pasado de estos dos personajes. Sin dudas un par de momentos que quedaran grabados en mi corazón por siempre.

Sí, no pude escoger solo un momento del maravilloso final de esta obra magna. A ver, ¿por dónde puedo empezar? Por un lado tenemos la muerte de Greed y su realización como ser vivo, el enfrentamiento de Roy contra Envy (mi personaje favorito por cierto), la muerte de Wrath a manos de Scar, tenemos el sacrificio de Alphonse para que Edward recupere su brazo, el enfrentamiento final entre Father y Edward, la redención y muerte de Hohenhaim, Edward renunciando a su puerta de la verdad y a la Alquimia para recuperar el cuerpo de su hermano, y por supuesto esa maravillosa frase final con la que culmina la aventura:

Todo esto converge en una montaña rusa de sentimientos en la que resulta imposible no conmoverse, el viaje de los hermanos Elric fue largo y complicado pero también ha sido un viaje que ninguno de los que disfrutamos de esta increíble historia olvidaremos pronto. Me atrevo a decir de hecho que es un final perfecto, todos los cabos quedan atados de manera lógica y la sensación de felicidad que queda al terminar de ver el último episodio es algo indescriptible. Una obra maestra.

Espero que estemos todos de acuerdo con que las Hormigas Quimera es uno de los mejores arcos jamás creados en la historia del manga y el anime, y quién piense lo contrario por favor vaya a terapia. Ahora en serio, el último arco del ahora en hiatus HunterxHunter, las Hormigas Quimera, es un arco para el que nadie está preparado una vez comienza, es una experiencia que no se puede describir apropiadamente o al menos yo no me siento en la capacidad para hacerlo. El planteamiento principal del arco es que las Hormigas Quimera son una especie de insectos extremadamente peligrosos que viene del “mundo exterior”, la principal amenaza que presentan al mundo es que se reproducen a través de un proceso (ficticio) llamado “Phagogenesis”, cuyo principio es que al comerse un ser vivo estas traspasan a la siguiente generación de hormigas los genes de dicha especie, evolucionando en el proceso. Los dos primeros humanos a los que se comen las hormigas son a un par de niños que viven en NGL, Kurt y Reina. A medida que la trama avanza se revela que los seres vivos que son comidos reencarnan en forma de hormigas quimera y algunos incluso conservan los recuerdos de su vida como humanos, también se revela que Colt, el primer y más fiel líder de escuadrón a la reina quimera es la reencarnación del primer niño que se comieron, Kurt. No obstante como hay tantas cosas pasando durante este arco es sencillo dejar de preguntarse qué fue lo que pasó con su hermanita Reina, y no es sino hasta el final del arco que se revela que su hermana reencarnó en Shidore, una hormiga que hasta ahora había parecido como un personaje secundario sin mayor relevancia. Luego de la muerte del rey Meruem las hormigas que quedaron vivas están pensando en que hacer ahora que no sirven a nadie y la cadena de mando se ha roto, por lo que Shidore y Bloster deciden regresar a su pueblo natal en NGL. Una vez allí Shidore se acerca a la que alguna vez fue su hogar pero no sin antes mostrarnos como la mamá de Kurt y Reina mantiene la esperanza en que sus hijos siguen con vida…

Cuándo Shidore abre la puerta de su casa su madre la reconoce inmediatamente, se lanza encima de ella y Shidore le pregunta como la reconoció, a lo que su madre le responde: “¡Claro que lo sé! ¡Soy tu madre!” y pues, creo que no necesito decir más nada.

Evangelion es una obra que cala con el público por muchas razones, algunas quizás más válidas que otras, pero como lo dije en mi reseña de este anime, Evangelion es una historia que habla de la depresión a través de toda la parafernalia de su compleja trama y no hay que ser un genio para darse cuenta de que el protagonista, Shinji Ikari, está SUMAMENTE deprimido. Y pues con razón, el pobre Shinji ha estado expuesto a una cantidad de situaciones más que injustas para sus cortos 14 años de edad; su madre murió, su padre lo odia, y además tiene que pilotear un robot biomecánico para salvar el mundo y más importante aún, ganar la aprobación de su padre y la gente que espera algo de él. En 1997 la historia original del anime concluyó con The End of Evangelion, una película que deja un final más que confuso desolador, Shinji decide darle una nueva oportunidad a la humanidad pero no se ve precisamente como la persona más cuerda alrededor, y ni hablar de Asuka. Sin embargo, como muchos seguidores de esta obra sabrán, su autor, Hideaki Anno, estaba atravesando una fuerte depresión a la hora de producir la serie y retrato eso tanto en sus personajes como en el guión en sí mismo.

En el 2007 comenzó la publicación de una nueva serie de películas llamada Rebuild of Evangelion (que se traduce literalmente como Reconstrucción de Evangelion) cuya intención era hacer una reinterpretación de la historia original y que además buscaba captar público nuevo para la franquicia. Las dos primeras películas (Evangelion: 1.0 You are (not) alone y Evangelion: 2.0 You can (not) advance) fueron claramente una adaptación casi al pie de la letra del material original con algunos cambios, sin embargo el final de la segunda película si cambia radicalmente el rumbo de los sucesos. En noviembre de 2012 salió la polémica Evangelion: 3.0 you can (not) redo y la que terminó de dividir al fandom de Evangelion, ya que si bien la película no era mala presentaba una serie de ideas y conceptos que necesitaban de una secuela para completarse y luego de un desarrollo tortuoso, múltiples retrasos, y casi 9 años de espera, en marzo del 2021 salió por fin a la luz la película que le pondría fin a todo: Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. Las expectativas variaban muchísimo y el público no sabía que esperar, pero afortunadamente nos entregaron una película que resultó siendo una carta de amor para todos los fanáticos de Evangelion. Para no hacer el cuento más largo; en esta película Shinji toca su punto más bajo, pero también decide enfrentar a los demonios que tanto tiempo lo han torturado, enfrenta y perdona a su padre, deja ir el dolor por la ausencia de su madre, entiende que sus sentimientos son válidos y que quienes están cerca de él lo quieren y se preocupan por su bienestar. Todo esto culmina en una escena en la que vemos a un Shinji mucho más adulto siendo feliz, riendo, seguro de sí mismo, una escena que no habla solo del personaje sino de su autor y su crecimiento personal, y que funciona como una luz de esperanza para todos aquellos que sufren de algo tan difícil como la depresión. Siempre podrán superarla, siempre podrán salir adelante, ustedes también se merecen luz y felicidad en sus vidas.

Durante todas las 3 primeras temporadas de Shingeki No Kyojin estamos constantemente intrigados acerca de la verdad del mundo, no sabemos nada de los titanes, ni su origen, ni de que hay más allá de las murallas, cada revelación lo que hace es complicar más aún las cosas, la búsqueda por la tan ansiada libertad se simplifica a conocer que es lo que hay más allá de las murallas, en conocer ese lago interminable de agua salada donde la vista se pierde en el horizonte. Hasta este punto esa es la libertad que busca Eren, pero… Al descubrir la verdad del mundo ese sueño se cae completamente, ese sueño al que dedicaron su vida resultó ser una mentira, el mundo terminó siendo un lugar mucho más cruel de lo que pensaban, el concepto del bien y mal se deformó completamente, los titanes ya no eran los enemigos, los titanes eran las victimas de algo mucho más cruel…

Es por eso que ese momento que tanto soñaron, conocer el mar, el momento por el que sinfín de soldados y compañeros dieron su vida terminó siendo una mentira, la libertad no está más allá de los muros, más allá de los muros está el mar, y más allá del mar solo hay enemigos. Ese momento en el que la Legión de reconocimiento llegó al mar y que perfectamente pudo haber sido el final de esta historia no era más que el comienzo de un infierno mucho peor. Este momento es mi momento favorito de todo Shingeki No Kyojin, está retratado de una manera impecable, las actuaciones de voz son dolorosas, los colores son vivos y brillantes pero no hay azul en el mundo que les regale la libertad, al final de esta escena es imposible no sentirse vacío y triste, porque después de todo… La libertad es mucho más compleja que atravesar un muro.
