COVER.jpg

Hello everybody :)

I'm back today with another little piece of our country, and what a little piece i'm going to share with you.
It is very common to see articles about visits to inhabited and structured places full of movement and different colors, where despite being static, the photographs seem to come to life and we can almost guess the movement of things that we already know are moving.

In this case, although there is no lack of color, a rich and natural color, it is not as busy a place as it would have been at the height of its settlement.
The visit to this place turned out to be extremely timely, as my daughter took a test in the environmental study subject and studied various subjects, including the history and characteristics of the people who inhabited these lands.
Of course, despite initially turning up his nose when we told her we were going to see rocks on top of other rocks :P, she ended up loving it.

We already have a new visit scheduled so that next time she can take her cousins so that they can let their imagination go even further and explore that vast place in a more creative way, because if even the oldest of them arouses a certain curiosity and amazement, imagine the little ones.

Speaking like this, it almost sounds like i'm describing an amusement park, but far from that, what i'm sharing with you today is called Citânia de Briteiros, located on the top of a mountain in the parish of Briteiros, municipality in the city of Guimarães, the birthplace of Portugal.

This place is extremely important for its archaeological richness and its state of preservation, being one of the most studied and visited in Portugal.
The term citânia is used to describe fortified settlements characteristic of the Castro culture, which occupied the region during the Iron Age between the 2nd century BC and the 1st century AD.
This set of ruins exhibits a complex urban organization, with defensive structures, residential areas and public spaces.

There we can see stone walls, circular houses, squares and other architectural elements that indicate a structured society.
This site has been excavated and studied by archaeologists over the years, providing valuable information about the life and culture of the communities that lived there during the Iron Age, but as you can see from the title of this article, i chose to divide it into 2 parts so as not to make the description very long and heavy, but also because i have 50 new photos to share and where i visually record what i considered to be the left side of the complex, where we can visualize what seemed to me to be the most central and social part of the local, and you will soon understand why do i say this :)

Always remember:

Value your time, because every fraction counts, and the price of anything is the amount of life you trade for it.
May the memories of the travels be eternalized in the photographs, and may the photographs transport us back to the travels ;)
