Hello hivers, I hope you are very well, today I bring you a new study that I have done between yesterday and today, in which I have tried to implement all the tutorials that I have seen lately, I also did this study focusing a lot on artists like Rossdraws and Sam Yamg; Particularly in the effects that they give to their portraits, I wanted to learn what tools they use and although this is not the style I aspire to, it is always great to study artists as great as them, following the steps of this study.

Process 📝 Proceso

For the sketch I started as always with rustic lines to be able to locate the pose and as I go forward I am polishing the lines and adjusting the proportions as much as possible, I intend to make many of these sketches since I want to accentuate the fundamentals of drawing faces.

For the color I started on a separate layer from the sketch in which I painted general lights and shadows trying to define as many general shapes as possible, after that I joined the sketch layer with the painting layer and polished everything I could, too. I followed one of the tips that Sam Yamg gives, in which he says that he paints the background as soon as possible to be able to take into account the lighting of the character and make the painting more homogeneous, done this I also decided to do matte painting, which at first I didn't want to do it, but seeing that those little drawings are quite repetitive, it would take me a long time and it is time that I want to take advantage of to practice more anatomy, so I simply placed a yukata texture and gave it some color touches; Anyway, in future practices I will do exercises where I try to imitate various textures.

To finish this drawing I began to give it lighting, which was the main reason why I chose the reference photo, it also occurred to me to try to place some more accessories, but the objective of this painting is not to do my best work, but to learn the fundamentals of painting to be able to grow, and that was all for this digital painting studio, I hope you liked it and see you next time, bye.
