[Eng/Esp] Some very sweet and fun teratapies for our son Santiago.
English Version
English VersionGreetings to all the beautiful mommies and daddies of the #motherhood community, I hope you are healthy, happy and enjoying the pleasant company of your loved ones. A couple of months ago my husband and I took our little son Santiago to a consultation with pediatric surgeon Oranelys Benitez to perform surgery to cut his lingual frenulum. Our baby had a short lingual frenulum and it was necessary to perform this surgery to free the frenulum so he could have more lingual mobility when speaking and pronouncing certain words. During this time, as recommended by our pediatrician, we have been doing a series of lingual exercises to give the frenulum movement and prevent it from reattaching to the floor of the lingual vestibule.

Later on, our two-year-old son will need speech therapies to develop speech accordingly. For the moment, my husband and I keep doing a series of therapies with our son, one of those therapies consists of sticking out the tongue to its maximum expression and giving him mobility to the sides of both cheeks and up and down. It is quite hard for us, because Santiago is bored with his therapies, like every child he just wants to play, have fun and be in contact with other children of his age. Even so, we practice every day with a lollipop and we place it on both sides so he can touch it with the tip of his tongue, we also place him in front of the mirror so he can stick out his tongue as if he was miming and he can give mobility to his tongue.

However, there are two very fun therapies that our son loves and wishes he could do every day, one of them is the selfie "tongue" therapy, a therapy that we have invented for our son to stick out his tongue while we take selfies and have a lot of fun, the other therapy is a sweeter therapy, although mom and dad only allow him to do it twice a month, it is the "ice cream" therapy, a super common and practical way for our son to stick out his tongue and allow him to be more mobile while tasting an ice cream of his favorite taste, which is chocolate ice cream.

I admit that the therapy of greater impact is the ice cream therapy, our son practices it naturally and without any inhibition, he loves to eat ice cream and stick out his tongue at that moment is a very spontaneous act, where we get the most movement of his tongue, of course we practice this sweet therapy at least twice a month to avoid excessive consumption of sugar by our son. On the other hand, I must also admit that from so many therapies our son sometimes goes walking in the street and sticking out his tongue, even we have had some pain, because Santiago in a couple of occasions has stuck out his tongue to some ladies who come closer to give him affection, and then we have explained the reason of acting of our son, and we have also talked with him so he does not do his therapies in the street and even less to stick out his tongue to any person. At this moment I don't know whether to laugh or cry, I think I better laugh hahahahaha....

Soon we will be again in his consultation with the pediatric surgeon, I hope we have done an excellent job, we already know from his doctor that the lingual surgery has been a success and that his frenulum is free of the lingual vestibule. Now, we are missing the advance of the therapies at home and I think we have been very well and we have looked for funny alternatives for our little Santiago to do his therapies.

I'm sure ice cream therapy is your child's favorite therapy. We all like to eat ice cream. An ice cream twice a week is good, but as you say, too much sugar intake should also be avoided. I hope the pediatrician will give you good news about the progress of the therapy at the next visit.
Greetings, the truth is, my good friend, we only let him do his ice cream therapy twice a month precisely to avoid excessive consumption of sweets. Thank you very much for reading my post @jcrodriguez , a big hug
